As a life long drummer I can say this. How classic are the faces we make when we're in the groove 😲 love it! It's like watching your lead guitarist go off on a tangent. Nothing but love brother 🥁🤘
I'm a Ludwig guy. Saying that , I'm Bless to own a Classic Ludwig 1959 Blue & Silver Duco 3 ply full Drum Set, two matching snares 5"x14"& a 61/2"x14" . The Most Famous Sound in Drums! By the way , my Duco Drum Set not only sounds great they look Beautiful with nickel hardware and No piling on the shells ... They're Keepers till the very end of my playing career . THANKS LUDWIG !!!
Very impressive sounding kit. Really Cool Lugs. Maybe you will consider offering a Ludwig Bass Drum Tom Mount as an option. Lot's of drummers really don't prefer the tom on a separate stand, due to it taking up additional space, where a cymbal stand could go. Overall, the kit looks and sounds great!
Rightfully so...they are made under the same technique and machinery from back then. With today's drums, you have a much wider tuning range with properly trued bearing edges.
His cymbals: -Istanbul 20" OM Crash -Istanbul 24" Traditional Medium Ride -Istanbul 22" OM Ride -Not sure what the high hats are but I think they're 16" Istanbuls
Anybody know if these are heavy or lightweight? My 66' blue sparkle kit is fairly light compared to my Maple classic bubinga kit. Portability is a big deal for me.
I have the modern version of the club date. They sound amazing but the downfall is that the tension rods of the bassdrum keep getting loose or even fall off. Do you have any tips for preventing this?
Could anyone please have a look underneath Charlie's 22" Istanbul Agop OM Ride? There seem to be some rivets which do not have the usual sizzle form, but which seem bigger and look more like little bells. Any suggestions what those could be? I guess both crashes are 22" OM Rides, right? Thanx a lot! The kit sounds awesome!
No unfortunately they can't. To stay true to a "lightweight" option we went the the Classic Folding spurs. Curved spurs or modern telescoping spurs weigh twice as much as the Classic currently on Club Date. As you can see from the video....there are no issues with these spurs holding up. For added support, you can also add the Ludwig front hoop anchor
I’d expect duco is more expensive because it takes more labor to get right...skilled painter and extra time to dry and cover in clear coat. I believe the wrap is just adhered to the bare shell. I would expect the two to sound essentially identical, but if someone were to really dive down, the duco would probably give a brighter tone with more high frequencies. I’d expect higher frequencies because the duco would be lighter without the added wrap. I expect that tuning, head choice, and the full round over bearing edge would be the biggest factors controlling the sound of the shells.
Per majority feedback, we decided to initially offer these kits without bass drum mount. Obviously sky is the limit with aftermarket modification with trusted Drum service techs.
Ludwig classic 14x6.5 in some strata finish. Nope, I was way wrong and the guy below is definitely right - raw copperphonic. Watching the video again, idk how I thought that was a strata.
Yes, these things sound awesome. But, "...a great option for the drummer on a tight budget?" New, these range from $1,899 - $2,099 depending on bass drum size. Not exactly a "budget kit."
When comparing to other professional USA kits...Club Date series does price out the lowest. Especially among those like Center lug kits in the market. For example....the Fab 3 outfit like in the video start at $1599 in USA. Price does increase or decrease base on sizes and finishes. We stand behind our claim of its very affordable price tag for its category.

Yeah for sure i know i do make a mug look 🥁🤨
I love how Charlie sets up his drums! He's mesmerizing to watch play!

that copper snare sounds lush and lovely
That kick drum sounds great!
What happened to these? Was a kool series.
My very first drum set was a 1957 Ludwig with this same finish. Wish I had kept them.
This guy looks like if Jimmy Fallon decided to become cool
No wonder Ludwig has lasted for years.
Great, versatile drums.
Bring these back!
I special ordered this kit...love it....sounds excellent
I think this kit sound fantastic! I ordered one in the Downbeat configurations, and they sound great and have incredible tuning range! (-:

Wish they would bring back the original _rail consolette_ tom mount
I agree about the tom mount. Would prefer it on the bass drum. Other than that, they look great and sound great. I might have to get a set.
Very good kick drum. The whole kit sounds very similar to my 1968 clubdates. Probably couldn't tell a lot of difference between the two to be honest.
Rightfully so...they are made under the same technique and machinery from back then. With today's drums, you have a much wider tuning range with properly trued bearing edges.
Charlie rules!
really nice. sound a lot like my 60's ludwigs. love those round over bearing edges.
Great sounding drums. Been trying to order a similar set with a 18x22 bass and same ducco finish. Not available. :(
His cymbals:
-Istanbul 20" OM Crash
-Istanbul 24" Traditional Medium Ride
-Istanbul 22" OM Ride
-Not sure what the high hats are but I think they're 16" Istanbuls
I know his favorite pair of Hi Hats are 16" 30th Anniversary Istanbul Agop. So they're probably that!
Nice info, man. Thanks! :)
Awesome
Big Sound !!!
You have a date at the club - you know the place. Please bring your drums. 🎭🎶
This is just how drums should sound and look
nice
Dope feel
That retro duco finish looks so cool......I would have preferred the original style lugs iso the imperials. Great sounding drums.
Charlie
Would it be possible to order a Club Date kit in Jumbo Black Pearl wrap?
is the tom being held with a ludwig classic stand? I want to buy that stand but want to make sure it will fit my 12 inch club date tom
Ducolux. The dupont lacquer from back in the day. Still lacquer??
Anybody know if these are heavy or lightweight? My 66' blue sparkle kit is fairly light compared to my Maple classic bubinga kit. Portability is a big deal for me.
Lightweight
Not the usual cracking sound in the snare, associated with Supras.
Must be something else.
it's actually a Copperphonic

gloebba 2 steel rivets, and then 1 brass rivet
what snare used in that for matching with great sound drum kit ??
Looks like a 6.5" Copperphonic
Monroe NC, no shit. How did I not know that being from NC and a life long lover of Ludwig.gonna see if they allow tours.
They do! At least in 2015 they did. It was AWESOME!
Can the spurs be changed out for the curved or telescoping spurs ?
No unfortunately they can't. To stay true to a "lightweight" option we went the the Classic Folding spurs. Curved spurs or modern telescoping spurs weigh twice as much as the Classic currently on Club Date. As you can see from the video....there are no issues with these spurs holding up. LudwigDrumsHQ-- Thanks guys ! But i've got my eye on a vintage Hollywood Black Oyster Pearl kit, that i may just snatch up !
Why is this drumkit with a duco finish more expensive than with a wrap finish? And does the finish/wrap make a difference to the sound?
I’d expect duco is more expensive because it takes more labor to get right...skilled painter and extra time to dry and cover in clear coat. I believe the wrap is just adhered to the bare shell. I would expect the two to sound essentially identical, but if someone were to really dive down, the duco would probably give a brighter tone with more high frequencies. No way to get a tom mount for the bass drum is there?
Per majority feedback, we decided to initially offer these kits without bass drum mount. Obviously sky is the limit with aftermarket modification with trusted Drum service techs.
@@LudwigDrumsHQ I was told that Ludwig did not recommend adding a rail consolette to this model, can you verify that?
Is it Minroe or Monroe?
I mean the Crash above the floor tom.. Cheers!
What are the drum sizes in this video?
Detailed at 0:09
👍🏻
Sadly there are no Ludwig retailers
what kind of snare is he using?
Hi! Random commenter here. That is a 14x6.5 Copperphonic in the Raw finish!
Jimmy Fallon on some great Ludwigs
Great toms ..very warm.
A Supraphonic snare would have sounded better here.
What’s the snare ?
Nice sounding kit.

Raw Copperphonic
Lol for a tight budget? Here in Aus these kits are nearly 4K! guess import tax is super high here.
Lets buy the drummer some hair gel...lol JK

Yes - "for its category," these are definitely well-priced; you'll get no argument from me there. Still...
Love the toms, but not a fan of the snare.
Prefer Supraphonics.
Jimmy Fallon on the drums
Ludwig meets Jimmy Fallon lol
floor tom close mic is out of phase.
Virgin bass drums are a real pain.
Bass drums have had tom holders in the bass drum for many decades and used by the greatest drummers.
Yes - agree. Bring back the original _rail consolette_ base drum TomTom mount 👌
Beautiful open sound, but not a fan of that snare.
Supraphonic or Black Beauty would sound much better.
Toms are great...so is the bass drum.
Nice toms...not a fan of the snare..
A hairy Jimmy Fallon
