I play exclusively in VR, I haven’t got the space for triples and single screen racing just isn’t great. VR has its drawbacks in terms of comfort and graphical quality but the immersion is so awesome the drawbacks are insignificant. Great video!
Nice to hear the positives. Might give it a go some day. It's fun to buy stuff.
Deffo agree
Just bought 3090 to play SIM racing with my Quest 2 and wow. I don't think I'll ever do SIM racing in 2D again. it's that good. with graphics settings turned up to the max it looks awesome
same boat.... i dont have the space for triple setup.... vr is by far the only way for me.....
Same here. Thought about getting an ultra wide but people say some games don’t translate well on UW. Got a Reverb G2 and haven’t looked back.
This video is just 28 minutes of Dave panicking and I'm here for every minute of it
That VR content looks awesome. I don't mind the black bars, please more of it! All the best, Dave.
I love my VR on iRacing. Vive Cosmos. Epilepsy took me out of real cars and I couldnt believe how incredible the experience really is. Now that time has passed. I feel like it actually prepared me to have the confidence to be back on the road today without getting a 4x. Keep rocking the great content Dave.
The VR looked great!! I barely noticed the black bars, and didn't feel ill watching. Great stuff!!
Awesome Dave, my triples don't get much love these days since doing the VR route. Nothing beats it! Keep the VR vids coming 👍
I upgraded to VR this year, apart from the occasional nose pimples... wow total game changer, way more fun and could never go back to single screen
I've been using VR solely for racing for 4 years now. It is the most significant thing you can add to your sim rig. I will never return to monitors. The stream looked great also, the head movement does not bother me. I wear a hat backwards for extra comfort.
I agree. I once tried to use my monitor when my vr headset was broken. No way to get bavk
Ooohhhhh mannnnnn!! I was here for that whole race! So invested in seeing that comeback!! Great race Dave! GG Mr. Smallwood!
Great video Dave. Nail biter of a last lap. I use VR in all my racing, it's just so much....more. Watching the recorded VR video was fine. No problems. More of it please.
i race exclusively in VR as well with the Rift S - pro tip, make sure you connect the USB to a powered USB hub otherwise the disconnects are frequest and warrant physical destruction of the headset
Very good that image stabilisation, totally watchable. Well done on the podium too :-)
I always have a fan running off to the side when I'm running in VR... nothing more annoying than fogging up half way through a race.
That was brilliant, great driving. I haven't played iRacing for about 10 years, but recently I'm desperately wanting to get another PC and wheel setup. This video has made me want to add VR to that list as well.
It was amazing to watch. Usually I'm not a big fan of VR Videos but like that it is amazing! Would love to see more of that. And what a battle to the last corners, was so thrilling!
Just reminds me how much I want to try VR myself, definitely more VR content needed on the channel.
Good to see you back in VR Dave 👍🏻 In regards to quality of image it was perfect. The biggest reason most VR content is shaky is purely due to the creator not being able to keep their head still, its that simple and you did a great job here.
of course id see you here xd
@@nololol 🙋🏻♂️
Awesome video content, awesome race, and also a really good quality Dave!
Another great video from DC! Even though its 2 years old and on older VR equipment, I am impressed with the graphics quality.
After 30 seconds or so I did not notice the black bars, this VR content is awesome! VR is very cool and an experience that I never thought I would have! Sitting in Michael Schumacher's 2004 F1 car I'm Assetto Corsa is stunning! Assetto Corsa and trying all the mods is such fun as you feel more part of it all. More of this please Dave!
Video was amazing Dave, loved every minute of it.
That was amazing Dave!! Great ending.
Nicely done. Sweet drive. Enjoyed that.
Good and enjoyable watch thanks Dave :) And yes I love VR as well for immersion, but like you said during your race "blurry crap that is VR" is still true. I reckon another two generations of headset and GPU and it'll finally be unbeatable.
Insane driving, was such a joy to watch!
Great video as always Dave, the image stabilisation worked very well as you would have seen during editing. The black bars were fine almost forgot they were there such was the intensity of the racing🤣. I recently had the opportunity to try VR myself and man what an experience it was, VR is definitely an upgrade away for my setup, the ability to see the distance from the walls and apexes just can not be beaten. It's just a matter of which headset to go with, the age old issue for a sim racer🤣. Love your content as always mate definitely more VR video's would be awesome, greetings from Western Australia 🇦🇺 👍
Definitely much more stable, like an anti-shake has been applied. Great drive mate.
Well deserved podium! 💪 super entertaining to watch! 👌 have a good day, Dave! 👋
Nice to see you taking advantage of learning this combo for your challenge over on TraxionGG channel.
VR looked great! No issues at all, the black bars dont take anything away from the quality.
Nice VR Vid Dave. Took me about a lap to get used to that new look, but after that the black bars weren't disturbing anymore.
great video Dave, nice to see you racing in VR, I also recently got myself a VR but I still fiddle a bit with settings, the only issue I really have with VR Is that it becomes a sweatfest really fast, especially when it's hot outside :D
Looks good, Dave. Honestly didn’t even notice the bars while you were driving, only at the start.
Good to see you back. Hope all went well. I have had a nose opp in the past, so know what it's like. Output looks good in VR Dave. I have a Quest 2 that I use sometimes in ACC. It's great fun for a limited period, about 30 minutes. I am also slower in VR than on my monitor, so would not use VR for a race.
G2 the best headset for the price for anyone looking into VR. Image is great and it's relatively light so the comfort also good, lot's of reviews online.
The guy that ended up in fourth.. What an unfortunate last name :D Great race. I really didn't expect you to catch #3 on the last lap. A joy to watch. VR: It was okay for me. Not an experience i would long for, but not one to run away from either.
Bloddy awesome Mr Mac. We did get a few glitches, at one point it looked like an LSD trip but overall it was great. I didn't realize until well into the race that you couldn't see the relatives and leaderboards like we could. Cracking race let's go again soon.
Bloody exciting there :D job well done, fun race
Epic finish! That was good fun.
Good stuff. The stabilisation seemed about right.
If you hadn't mentioned the bar's I wouldn't have noticed then at all, mentioning them I think it made me subconsciously look for them, but one hell of a video all being said, and what a great recovery drive too, I was with you all the way, down to leaning into the corners lol, as always with your content is was great, I don't think I have seen you enjoy a race quite as much as you seemed to enjoy that one, and the Mustang really looks like a great car to race with too.
I'm but a few months away now from the upgrades I need/want and I'll be putting more effort into my sim racing, thought I am sure I won't ever match your skills.
Keep the VR coming mate it's a totally different feel to the video.
I noticed the black lines only at the first couple minutes. The footage looks good and most important stable! As a vr user myself, I can definitely say that this image stabilizer works really well and makes the video nice to watch. The quality was from my perspective good enough to enjoy it.
Most of the VR content makes me feel sick after a couple minutes due to the bouncing and bad quality, but this was really nice to watch.
bumping into things and windows disconnect noise after is peak VR. Also the motion smoothing makes a huge difference in viewability
How did I miss this one? Great finish!
I only race in VR for immersion. The biggest drawbacks of virtual reality compared to triple screens are peripheral vision and comfort.
The Rift S was surprisingly comfortable, and it provided less performance overhead thanks to that hdmi cable.
This I like,VR is the future the sooner you convert 100% the quicker you will be
Loved the camera stabilization thing for VR. It was very pleasant to watch :) And holly shit, what a fucking race mate, good shit!
To be honest, I completely forgot it was VR so the video is really good. It's really nice that you are able to play it in VR as I get major VR sickness when I do. Keep up the good work.
You just need to play in short bursts and stop as soon as start to feel sick. Also a racing game is probably not the best type of game to start off in vr try something a little less intense.
I never get motion sickness while driving or flying, but I used to get it with low-end VR headsets (Samsung Gear VR, PlayStation VR). As it turns out, the culprit was not VR per se, but low resolution and frame rates. I bought an HP Reverb G2 to play Assetto Corsa and I don't get any trace of motion sickness unless frame-rates drop below 60fps. I adjusted graphics setting, sacrificing a small amount of detail along the way, to ensure I can keep close to the maximum 90fps offered by the headset, and I don't feel slightly sick.
Pretty much all the reasons why I didn't go VR confirmed. Still can't quite get over the motion disconnect, even with the image stabilization. Image quality was better than I expected. My eyes did keep jumping to the black bars even if I tried not to look at them. There are a lot of VR fans but I just can't be one of them it seems. Always good to try new stuff out though. Keep it coming
G2 reverb is the ultimate for iracing VR . If you have the power the lighting effects are amazing!
Great footage!
You really need to get a Varjo Aero headset. Clarity is unmatched, and it has a built-in cooling system so you can wear the thing all day.
Having said that, fantastic video. I love the immersion from our point of view as much as you do from yours!
Love it Dave. I use VR because it's cheaper and less space taken up. But I'm not missing out on emersion. I put a fan on to keep me cool and only type when I'm vexing lol.
it was great to watch :)
Great race Dave. VR is great immersion for the player. I prefer to see the facial expressions of the streamers, even while just talking, and a steady screen as it is better for the viewer.
I agree completely
What a great drive and that ending :)
VR looks GREAT Dave
The VR footage looks great! IR-04 in VR next?
Amazing comeback Uncle Dave.
Well done Dave 🎉
Good stuff Dave. I much prefer the VR PoV to the GoPro and triples. It puts us in the driver's seat.
I race exclusively in VR so I'm a bit biased. I find I stop noticing my Reverb G2 pretty quickly. As a former motorcycle rider who always wore a full-face helmet I find any discomfort associated with the headset mild, and that it even adds to the sense of immersion. The exception is fogging of the lenses in cold or very humid weather. I might have to add a hairdryer to my rig for some gentle pre-warming of the lenses.
Good watch Dave, i do like playing AMS2 in VR great fun tricking your brain you are a pro driver. Never recorded though in VR so might give it a try
I love the VR content Dave! I don’t mind the black bars. I prefer the immersion, and worked out the technical setup issues. I just need to find an overlay solution that works with my Quest 2.
Awesome video... enjoyed every second of it. Think about a new shirt design🤔... something like Dave the brave. I would buy that! 😁
get in there Dave! More VR please......p.s. the quest 2 or reverb g2 would be better image quality
Video looked good mate.Just get a decent table fan blowing in yer mush to cool you, even adds a tad more realism as if you've got the window open :)
I went from the rift to the quest 2. Trucking, racing, flying and everything in between wind sim kits help with heat. And what’s coming in the future will graphically complete with screens as long as you have Monster pc to do it.
I used to run the Quest 2, and it is really immersive. The only issue what I had it is just a bit of a hassle to set it up every time. I recently switch to an Ultra Wide which gives me the same feeling, without the struggles I have with the VR headset.
yes its a little blurry but i prefer that than the go pro i think, also make some funny mic smashing moments which is a plus imo XD, good fun the mustang one of the classic cars, gr Dave
Good to see you trying VR, just deciding between VR or Triple screens as I need an upgrade from a single.
Wow, never thought of using motion stabilisation, works very nicely, looks like you've got a camera strapped to your helmet!
I drive in VR so it's easy for me. Sounds like the triples guys aren't having any trouble watching either. I think VR needs more love. Certainly saves on energy, heat and space at my place.
Just got myself a Quest 2. Love it! Iracing is so much fun. I just need a new graphic card, my aging Vega56 is not quite up to the task.
I am not going to say VR got me better but, I find it easier to overtake. I realised that I was leaving way to much space. Races are a lot closer.
Your video was great. Since I discovered vr racing I'm only playing with vr. It makes it much easier for me and time seems to be twice as fast, although I'm not really twice as fast.
Forgot to mention I. using using the quest 2.
Very watchable. Better driving of a Mustang than me.
(and then he spins)
I would be pretty good at this I think, I don't like the black blinder things tho....
I'm getting much more confident on the Nordshliefe now, Only thing is I'm sim racing less and less purely from it being the same lobbies with the PS4 day after day, Even tho im greatful i even got the PS4 but still it won't be too long tho an hopefully will be in the PC world of sim racing, Everyone saying the PC AC is far better than the PS4 AC, But yeah the Nordshliefe is a great track for most cars.....
I like how calm you is, Relaxed racing lol....
Quality driving, Possibly a top video for learning how to take the corners, lol....
Great video bro, I'm looking forward to getting on iracing, Fingers crossed it won't be long now till I got the PC.....
Top driving dave....
Now I want a VR headset!
I love VR and ur stream was gr8 m8 keep up the good work son
Great VR playback. Absolutely nailed it last time through Adennaur Forst (sp?). Get a G2 though.
That shirt is awesome!
Never thought I'd see you race in VR again......... the last time I watched you race in VR it was a comparison against triples, VR won LoL
It's about time Dave 👍
Bit of a Rift S VR tip, make sure you activate the Desktop in the home menu, that way you can hit Alt/Tab to still access everything in VR should things go wrong mid race ;
Hi Dave, good video mate. I race exclusively in VR on iracing, and I love it !
Of course, the graphics quality is never going to be as good as it is on a screen, but the feeling of being sat in the car your racing with, more than makes up for the lesser quality.
I do only have a single monitor so perhaps with triples it would feel good also
Wait until the new headsets come out this year. I’m hoping they’ll match a monitor. Maybe even 4k
@@whitey1931 good point, although the money they are likely to cost is scary 😂
Well said, same here, in vr it is so immersive and it helps making it easier, for me at least.
That was amazing 👍🏼
I just love the 3d in vr. You don’t get it until you play in it because the UA-cam videos are still 2d. I only have vr right now but want triples just to have the option of both. Longer races would be nice with screens
using sequential shifting for an h-pattern gearbox. “Sim-racing” at its finest and most realistic
Yep, it's not big and it's not clever 😁
Feel free to check out some other videos where I have the h pattern installed
The video was fine, the black bars aren't that noticeable. It was very immersive. Good stuff, thanks for the content!
Mustang on the Nords, so sketchy, lol. I love it.
Dave I don't know how you can comment and drive as fast as you do
Great video 😊
Reverb G2 is a hell of a headset... To me the FOV is comparable to a typical helmet anyhow so its all good. Cant imagine having to go back to triples and look at a flat 2d projection!
Video quality looked good
VR racing can be awful to watch because of the shaking, but this was really enjoyable. Fun race to watch!
Essa última ultrapassagem foi sensacional. hahaha
Love the VR since I VR too. Miss the carnage tho!
Once you go VR you never go flat again :D
Video was awesome with the image stabilization. I hate watching VR videos bc the image is always moving around. That was a solid compromise and you don’t notice the bars.
Quality of the stabilization is absolutely amazing! It was very enjoyable, compared to non-stabilised VR videos. Just want to say - the 'hottness' in the VR headset goes away with practice and getting used to. When I jump into my VR after few weeks of not racing, it gets really hot, 10th race in a row, I don't even notice it anymore - still get sweaty, but I guess the guys on real track with helmets on do as well, so there goes that bit more of an immersion
Insane Video.....I Drive and Fly only in VR :)
A fan pointing at the face is essential Dave, makes all the difference. But from a viewer point if view bar the black bars look great.
PS
I started with the Oculus 2 and Reverb G2 is a big step up.
I had a G2 and it wasn't as good as I'd hoped. Certainly not worth a few hundred quid more than a Rift imo
@@davecamm Which GFX card at the time? The Oculus 2 is good, but I've noticed a massive gain in resolution, brightness, sharpness and colour.. Especially in IRacing with HDR which the G2 can use, with a 3080ti.
Mind, VR is a tweakers wet dream, constantly trying to eek out every last drop of goodness.
it would be interesting to see a guide on setting up VR in iracing.
