This interview is the most ridiculous thing I have ever seen. How dare her use her service as a weapon against ANYONE. As a 21 year veteran, still serving, I’ve seen combat, death destruction, everything, but I don’t go around, throwing it out there like that. I’ve served in the United States Army for 21 years and I’m proud of it, but I think saying it once, maybe twice is warranted, but what this man is saying, is far greater, then you just throwing that out there, repeatedly. I believe in what this man says, we have drifted from the true meaning of what it means to be American. Also, there are a lot of people serving for college, and college only. When it comes to deploying, well… I just signed up for college, not war. And somehow managed to get away with it. Also, another fact, Trump was not a political man at all. Yet he won and in my opinion, great things by putting foreign policies first. This woman doesn’t have the slightest clue how difficult and rare it is to start a company; take it public and make it a success. The idea that government service / leadership is morally or otherwise superior to private sector leadership is beyond absurd. Good work Vivek. Rise above.
She also was contradicting herself. She said she wanted him to say any leadership role he had even in grade school. He gave that, so she moved the goalpost and said he can't go from that to president, and then she continued to ask for something from grade school after he gave it. Her framework is so bad, she can't even maintain it.
And it is also important to mention that she was saying that saving lives, as he mentioned he did, is morally useless if you get payed.
A general principle is that if you do good things, good things happen. That isn't absolute like karma claims, but If you are kind to people, they will tend to be kind to you. And if somebody returns kindness, that does not nullify the previous kindness, either from the sphere of reality or the sphere of morality.
This false framework is exactly what she used to deny his list of leadership she asked for at the end. In doing this, she is saying that the ends erase the means whenever the ends benefit the benefactor.
No, private sector leadership is very very different to community leadership. One is in the pursuit of your own enrichment, (and as a consequence enriching those working for you), one is the selfless betterment of those around you. I couldn't vote for a President who's been in it for themselves solely, their entire lives.

She literally sat there saying that she wanted to hear about his civic duties throughout his life, he then said he has only done leadership in the real world instead of government. She then said she didn't mean government but she meant things like class president in school, she wanted to know if he rallied people in his life. Which he did, he rallied scientists and researchers and medical teams to challenge the complexity of life and disease to develop life saving medicines that changed the world. How is that not a leadership role?
One of the main problems with politicians is that the only thing they do is politics, they're not true LEADERS, they're just rulers. A true leader and someone you should actually trust is someone who actually led and did something of substance in the real world, not sat in an office chair arguing over what the people should be required to do. Politicians are disconnected from the people and the real world because they live in a bubble where they can play the country like a game with a pen. At least Vivek has actually lived in the real world and held leadership roles outside of politics or government.
Think of Joe Biden. He has never had a real job. He has just sat in office telling other people what to do. How is he a leader? Wouldn't you rather follow someone who actually did something real on their own and had to build something with their own two hands and didn't have the power of the government behind them?

I am an immigrant to this country myself and it always saddens me when I see people who just came to this country or people who were just born here disrespect black Americans forgetting about what black Americans have done for this country.

Black businesses were better than ever before. Businesses built by legal immigrants was booming. The border was more secure than ever before. That's what a businessman did.

@4:28 - “Revive family in America.” HOW could he possibly do that - at the federal government level - without implementing some kinda socio-democratic policies? Surely, he doesn’t think the private sector will do it for him.
@6:37 - “We’re not founded on an ethnicity or a…” We’ll last time I checked (today), the U.S. constitution - a founding document - clearly states that “Negroes” were only three-fifths of a person. (In the context of his argument, there’s no difference between race - a fabricated social construct, and ethnicity.)

If capitalism - particularly hyper-capitalism is such a great thing, then why is populism so prevalent among both liberals and conservatives, not to mention third-party voters.

He should throw away the talking point that 18 yr olds be required to take a civics test to vote since he voted for the 1st time in 2020 out of self interest. He also talks about topics that don’t matter to the majority of working class Americans such as Affirmative Action in elite universities. How many Americans go to Ivy League Colleges? Very few yet he stays silent on Legacy admissions to these same universities. He won’t win but he will open up the field for more like him to try.
