If it is an open prison it isn't Israels fault as Israel washed its hands of the place when it was handed over to the Palestine Authority in 2006 by the Oslo Accord. It can only be the fault of Hamas then that Gaza is an open prison.

It was the Romans that caused the Jews to go into exile all over the world but there was always a Jewish presence in Israel. During this time, invaders like the Crusaders and the Muslims came. the last was the Ottoman empire. but because Israel was so barren, nobody wanted to live there. it wasn't until the 1890s that the Jews started going back which caused some Arab migrants to move there too. In 1918, the British won ww1 over the ottoman empire and chose to return all of the middle east back to the Arabs except for Palestine/Israel. The Arab migrants in Israel REFUSED to leave and this has caused all the wars today. The Jews only have 1 tiny country; the Arab migrants have all of the rest of the Middle East and all the other Muslim countries in the world, why steal land from the Jews? Greed is the reason.

Unfortunately that is the problem because their goal is not land or property or peace but the destruction of the Jewish race. I encourage you to listen to the interview Lawerence Fredman recently posted between himself and Jared Kushner for an understanding of that reality. Most Israelis just want peace and some Palestinians simply want a homeland, so resolving the conflict between them is thoroughly possible but how do you achieve peace between men who would break a woman's legs strip her of her clothes, and debase her by forcing her to walk through the street? How can you negotiate peace with people who would "fight for a homeland" by shooting and burning civilians alive, including small children who were asleep in their bed. And how can the Israelis avoid civilian deaths when Hamas is using their own military strength to actively prevent the people from leaving, when Hamas elects to use those civilians as their human shields? Hamas wanted to kill children and they did so intentionally whereas israel wanted to kill Hamas and Hamas made it impossible for them to do so without some loss of civilian lives. If you were israel and you could either A. So your best to only kill Hamas but accept that you might kill some children in the process and that would allow your children to continue their childhoods in peace or B. Refuse to kill any Palestinian children even if that meant that your restraint would embolden Hamas to attack your people again, which would you choose? If I accept the presidency of a nation, I must accept responsibility for the hard decisions and I believe that a leader has an unrelenting duty to put their own people first, not because one life is more valuable to God but because it is their sacred duty to protect your own people, no differently than a parent is obligated to protect their own child first. If you would beg plead or even try to bribe a doctor to make sure your child got a ventilator over another child then this is not different. Hamas chose violence over the weekend and Israel is choosing defense.

The Palestinian people have been subjected to 56 years of suffocating occupation. They've seen their land steadily devolved and plagued by violence. There economy stifled.
