Just picked up Necrom, and as a Tank Main I am so thrilled to see the Arcanist Tank is seemingly super powerful. My healer teammate is gonna be hyped too.
Having loads of fun with my arcanist so far, definitely going to make a DPS, Healer and a Tank build for it, love that the class can do it all, and well too!
I am loving this build. I opted for ulti-gen over cost reduction by Trading Curative surge for Heroic slash and tremorscale for bloodspawn. That way I could run crimson and turning tide and still crank out the shield ultimate.
must say it's a bit better than other of his builds but it's still not good, he always doesn't get the point of real tanking, for example: when you have britte uptime, don't do double sword and board! run a lightningstaff for ex uptime for dps. Also run barrier as and oopsie or any of the ultis shown. but your main ult should be a warhorn or the new glyphic but for that you should use saxhleel. also frontbar or double bar lingering flare for major protection. also run echoing vigor as your heal, your damage shield protects you enough, your healer cant be that bad. harmonic jewls in commonly used for your sustain. you need more stam and mag, not more health and mag recov. Bear haunch or sugar skulls are superb buff foods. I would also advice running death dealer fete for harder fights but bloodlords is also godtear but run double staves then (pretty sure I was among the first to event acknowledge bloodlords and tell people). I also advice running temporal guard on frontbar for minor protection and shield. if you are a nord run 5 heavy 1 light 1 medium piece of armor for max resource and I could go on about this but is no use...

Nice build video. Just now I am here creating my first arcanist tank build. The thing with this build of yours, while obviously being very strong, is to have a premade group where your group understands that they have no need for self penetration because you are providing the full 18K of it. I play a lot with random people and usually people who know about ESO pve, will have that 7-8K self penetration thinking that the tank will provide major+minor breach+crusher. So with this build in most cases my team mates would have 7-8K useless penetration that could be used for weapon damage/crit/w-e. I will not be going through all that trouble to always ask people to drop off their penetration and go for something else. So I have to make some modifications to this build.
Your speaking in terms of min- maxing, but as you said randoms are just that random so to really min- max you need to find a group to play with more often. Honestly lowing yourself because other people being less isnt a good habit to form.
This is an INSANELY good tank. Brings EVERYTHING to the table, sacrifices NOTHING, can take HUGE hits, protects the squishies, HEALS!!!, debuffs the world... Dear God. My new favorite tank, I'm thinking...
I can’t wait for this to drop on Xbox. I am super excited to build this and your Book Wizard build. Contemplating doing an Argonian and just switching back and forth with the Armory station.
I like to also look at other skills to see if I can grab any situational utility out of them to swap and I definitely am looking at the portal morph that gives major expedition over the group synergy since as a tank we tend to be slower or otherwise sprinting is costly. Also probably a lot of fun in more casual dungeons where you want to move from one fight to the next and get control of the mob gorup before everyone else gets there and scatters everything. Maybe depending on composition if there is another arcanist that can provide the utility of another of my skills I can drop it for the portal. I also made my arcanist tank a redguard, mostly because I make a lot of my characters OC based and I do enjoy the occasional stamina gain on dealing damage. As a sidenote though, when creating it I didn't realize I was pretty much just accidentally creating Azandar's dad....when I unlocked him as a companion and had them side by side it just felt like a "dad?" "son?" moment.
@xynodegaming In dungeons would this work with the void bash weapon, keep Crimson and Tremor, and then a back bar set without ult cost reduction, but maybe something with more utility? Trying to work it from a pug standpoint.

It was going reasonably well compared to your usual tank builds, then we hit gear and traits and it all went to hell. You will literally be laughed out of a trial if you mention you are running Dragon. Even in dungeons, there are so, so many options which are far superior. Also, crimson or tremor, not really both. You are running caltrops anyway, PA would be way more beneficial. Arch Druid would be a far better helm that either tremore or bloodspawn. Again, ulti is there for when you F up. How much are you intending to screw up tanking a mob? Any build where you need that level of group heals to bring dps increasing sets, not selfish sets, which assumes the tank is clueless and needs cheaper 'oh crap' skills. Sturdy and Healthy ... I have no words.

Lol I'm still waiting to get laughed out of a trial. I've don't 3 vet dlc trials on this tank so far and havnt got laughed out yet have to say Im disappointed that no one has proven you right yet but I remain hopeful😊
@Matthew Sanders You share your gear with the group so they can see what poor tank knowledge you have? Pugs? Or, your raid lead wants to step down from their role. No 'proper' trial tank would consider Dragon; it is utter shite for trials. Well, it is pretty crap everywhere else, too. If you absolutely must run an ukti build for 4 man, then drake's but this is still inferior to the likes of PA, unless they need to build ulti for a boss burn and even then it is only used in the trash pull prior to the boss. People who don't MT vet dlc and vet dlc hm trials should not make tank builds for said content. Go watch builds from the likes of Hyperoxies and do your damn job properly. This is a build designed on the tank sucking ass. You rely on ulti build for shelter. You may aswell announce to the world you are unable to keep yourself alive and have to rely on your ult. Also, how much stuff are the DDs standing in to need that many shields. Teach them not to stand in stuff that kills them.
this would be a good pug dungeon setup at best. but threw me off with running tremorscale and crimson, you run one or the other, better to use tremor cuz it's 2 pieces compared to 5 so that opens up a whole other gear set to buff your group..lol

At high end content, DK will be the safest card (easiest) but even so, if you want to go with Arc, then it will be able to do everything. I like it as tank (not as this build) and have both this and a DK tank.
They both play different as they are different classes different type of build, both can do the same content. My AIW has done pretty much every kind of content but I wouldn't say either is better they both work
On vet arenas, sure, also depends on group, a solid group will not really benefit from this. DLC dungeons hm, varied results. Non-dlc dungeons hm, no problemo.
the difference between nord and imperial is minimal at best same goes for the other races the most unoptimal being around 8% difference. the nord gets to armor cap easier and has ulti gen which is more beneficial since more sets in the game want you to spend higher ultimate points to be stronger rather that needing less ultimate to cast it quicker. imperial is a very strong second overall since you gain more Stam and health and overall cost reduction which also affects block and roll dodges as well as your ults and other abilities but it is up to your choice. imo nord is more useful in more situations and when it comes to armor.
Nord is one of the races that have a passive that cannot be replicated easily i.e. want to regen of a Breton? Change your glyphs.. want the crit damage of a khajiit? Change your mundus.. but ult gen? There's nothing you can do to replicate that ult gen besides changing your gear and when there's like 3 or 4 sets to pick from to remain optimal you put yourself at a disadvantage by changing the gear to replicate that passive, at least tats my train of thought when picking race
Love your build. Never liked dks, not as tank or dd. Super boring class. Tanked as necro wich still is nice but this is next lvl. Feels stronger then dk tank. Arcanist tank is my main now haha
HOw is it my character has gear with tons of resistances and i don't have 36k i have 14k resistances without buffs, and yet your gear is trash, and you got 36k resistances lol what the hell is going on? HAXS???

This actually makes me want to tank now. Tanking before Arcanist is absolute garbage. Seriously, nine years and no active taunt skill? Maybe the tanks in groups will actually TANK now, instead of just DPSing like literally every group I've been in. Healers too, actually. No one really does their role in this game except DPS. At least on the low-level, normie dungeons I run.

I imagine the portal would also make overworld traversal a bit easier in certain areas

Arcanist dps bursts really high with a relatively easy rotation and it's boss setup is almost identical for trash packs. It's very strong

Arcanist has 20second brittle as a debuff. No need to try to force it with ice staff ;)

There's nothing you can do to replicate that ult gen besides changing your gear and when there's like 3 or 4 sets to pick from to remain optimal you put yourself at a disadvantage by changing the gear to replicate that passive, at least tats my train of thought when picking race
Always imperials for me. Still always at 33-35k resistances. Imperial master race.

Love your build. Never liked dks, not as tank or dd. Super boring class. Tanked as necro wich still is nice but this is next lvl. Feels stronger then dk tank. Arcanist tank is my main now haha

This actually makes me want to tank now. Tanking before Arcanist is absolute garbage. Seriously, nine years and no active taunt skill? Maybe the tanks in groups will actually TANK now, instead of just DPSing like literally every group I've been in. Healers too, actually. No one really does their role in this game except DPS. At least on the low-level, normie dungeons I run.
