- From Griots to Black Preachers: The Revolutionary Connection Between West African Religion and Black Identity
This video will explore the history and influence of West African religions on Black culture and religion and the ways in which African diaspora religions continue to shape religious culture in the United States and beyond. By examining the perspectives of scholars and historical figures such as Nat Turner, we can gain a deeper understanding of the significance of the Black faith tradition in shaping Black identity and political resistance.

We respect your research and presentation of our people. Another major and large slave revolt that changed the course of American history was the New Orleans slave revolt of 1811 on the Greman Coast. The rebellion started about 40 miles upriver on the Mississippi. Definitely its worth so much to lòking at this lesser know uprising event.
Thanks for your comment! I actually have a script on that that I haven't published yet.
Good. I pasted this comment here by mistake. It was for the Denmark Vessey video. We had a reenactment about here a few years ago led by the artist Dred Scott going down the river to New Orleans.
It seems as if you are painted this with a broad brush. What west African religions? You do realize that the amount of cultural and religious diversity in Africa is on a scale not seen anywhere else.
Correct. I was speaking broadly about pre-colonial West African religion. At no point did I say or come remotely close to implying that West African religions aren't diverse, so I don't know what you're getting at here. Would you agree that (broadly speaking) oral traditions are a common feature of West African religion?
Transatlantic Slave Trade = Deuteronomy 28:15-68
The Tanakh is not a religion, it is our culture, customs, history and heritage, the reason why we are slaves is because we are being punished for practicing the "religions" of other nations aka idolatry, which is what most of us are still practice to this day!
Exodus 4
22 And thou shalt say unto Pharaoh, Thus saith YHWH, *Yisra'eyl (Deut.**28:15**-68) is My son, even My Firstborn:*
You have commented a few times. If slavery is some sort of punishment, I guess I'm wondering who is punishing us?
@@AfricanElements 🙄 The descendants of Avraham, Yits'hhaq and Ya'aqov have no allies in this world. Psalms 83
Are you going to answer my question or not? If slavery is some sort of punishment, WHO is punishing the slaves?!?! You said, _"the reason why we are slaves is because we are being punished ..."_ We are being punished by who?!?!
@@AfricanElements
Do white people rule over black people?
I'm going to give you exactly ONE more opportunity to answer my question. Otherwise, I am blocking your ass. You said, _"the reason why we are slaves is because we are being punished..."_ We are being punished by who?!?!
