Bill is one of the absolute best riff writers in the business. True riff master. Right near the top of My personal list along with Jerry Cantrell and Josh Middleton from Sylosis.
The band brutus is worth checking out then, go check out a performance of war or sugar dragon live by them. The lead singer and drummer Stefanie rules and the band is awesome live.
I think pretty much everyone likes bills voice and wish he sang more. Got some killer harsh vocals too. I’ve wished forever bill would be down to start singing so they could have 4 singers
He said in an interview Mastodon already have 3 excellent singers and he thinks he does not have a place next to them in this role or something like that...
The sound for this whole show Is one of the best for a mastodon concert. Pretty close to Roskilde 2011 and live in the kpit with Scott Kelly which are masterpieces. Their adult Swim performance is great too and live at Vera 2005 is another great show From them. The mixing on a lot of mastodon live videos completely Fucks in their sound so it’s always great to see videos like this which sound great like they should. Just saw them earlier this week and they sounded fuckin awesome, a lot of the videos online just don’t do them Justice which is a bummer.
It amazes me how this band is so diverse to the point where literally every member contributes vocals and sounds fkin great. Mastodon are a generational band they literally can't make a bad song.
I guess the ones he already has aren't bad, iirc he was mainly complaining about how the company treated/treats their endorsers and how they don't listen to the demands.
He has different guitars for different tunings. I think he uses the Gibsons on the the lower tuned songs. I've seen him use the Sparrow Hawk plenty this year and last year.
They have gone from sludge and thrash metal to incorporate elements of prog rock. Every album after Blood Mountain has gotten more melodic. I like this band a lot.
he is the guitarist on the far left right? I literally came down to the comments to see if any one else noticed it. Seems really sad actually, he usually is so full of life and light
You know when I first heard this song I really didn't like it and didn't like the way mastodon was going as a fan of the leviathan era stuff. Fast forward to today and OMRTS is one of my favorite albums because when they play anything from this album live its mind blowing and changed my entire perspective on it.
During the Chorus and Verse they sounded AWESOME, but the guitar solo felt very empty. They needed some more bass or a looper pedal for a rhythm guitar part.
This riff is literally a 600lb gorilla knuckle-galloping at me from my speakers.

@@puppetmaster8551 very well said
"literally"
Best analogy ever!
I dont know how the hell brann is able to sing the chorus while drumming like a madman, drummers who sing have always amazed me.
You should check out Kelly Keagy of Night Ranger! My Favorite son from them is “when you close your eyes”!
Phil Collins is the man
The band brutus is worth checking out then, go check out a performance of war or sugar dragon live by them. The lead singer and drummer Stefanie rules and the band is awesome live.
It is truly a task
Not a famous singer lol but my dad was an awesome singer and drummer back in the day! Always impressed me!
troy is a god damn madman
He’s a fucking beast, one of the best frontmen(?) all of time
I ficking love madmen
@knightofglory i don't think term frontman exist in mastodon ;D
It's okay to make mistakes
Does anyone else actually like Bill's vocals? His harmonies sound great here!

He's great, too bad he's scared to show off :(
He said in an interview Mastodon already have 3 excellent singers and he thinks he does not have a place next to them in this role or something like that...
Troy's volcals sound EXCELLENT!
The guitar tone is just GODLY. Knocking everything in its path.
The mixing is freakin mint.

Everything is crisp and clear for sure, I hear the guitars to be a tiny bit honky, just a bit. It is an amazing live mix, you’re right!
Gotta say, this isn’t my favorite masto song by any means, but damn do they do it justice live. Way to change my mind on a song 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
love this one and tread lightly the most myself
full concert pleaseeeeee
Greatest rock band on earth
*metal
Agreed
Now that’s music!!!!
@@kasogamer they do everything. Incredible
these guys are the heaviest no-nonsense band ive seen and heard ever :D
This is one of their “newer” songs that I can really get behind. Omrts was a great album.
...one of their most powerfull songs.. and they have soooo many...
It amazes me how this band is so diverse to the point where literally every member contributes vocals and sounds fkin great. Mastodon are a generational band they literally can't make a bad song.
Damn they sound so good live
Incredible talent in that band.
Great song! That riff is so HEAVY! I love it!
Bill is a killer riff writer, this isn’t my fav mastodon song or anything but that riff never gets old, shit crushes every time.
Last time I saw them play it was an absolutely beautiful experience.
Troy's pipes on point!!!!
I dont mind bumping this...fckng brilliant!!!!!!!
My top 5th mastodon song. It's so heavy.
Dude this pumps me up!
holy moly, that's perfection
Such a heavy riff
I love the solo in this song! Fairly simple but very impactful. A shredding solo isn’t equivalent to a good solo
Dude these guys all are talented af.
Their recordings don't do them any justice. Much better live!
I saw them live b4 stellar show major green laser lights🤘💖🤘 and there drummer is a total Monster
I would love to see their full set! You did a great job with the recording and sound!
What a wonderful and delightful piece .....thank you
OMG Bill sings!!!
And he sings... good?!
This deserves more views.
it's weird how bill switched to ESP guitars yet plays gibson more than ESP
This is because the video is from 2016, and he was still in his Gibson contract..
Andrew Mallaby Didn't realize that on this one but even in newer vids he's playing his gibsons, I've seen a few with the sparrow hawk
I guess the ones he already has aren't bad, iirc he was mainly complaining about how the company treated/treats their endorsers and how they don't listen to the demands.

rayze 101 saw them last month and yeah. He only uses his ESP SH for D tuned songs. Everything else was his Vintage Les Paul's or his old Sig Explorer
Drummer is mad cool
i was at that concert in the crowd, why did he delay hiself, and that concert was fucking awesome.
My Dudes
Excellent live!! Come to Harrahs Cherokee Casino, Cherokee, NC (45 min west of Asheville) HUGE ampitheater.
I don't know why....but the main riff always makes me think of sad but true in term of heaviness...lol
At last a song by mastodon I like time for me too go back a give them s proper listening too
They have gone from sludge and thrash metal to incorporate elements of prog rock. Every album after Blood Mountain has gotten more melodic. I like this band a lot.
Fucking amazing
This is awesome. Where's the full gig?
goddamn this is a heavy song
Brett is high asf

@@jessemole9430 Unfortunately, he usually is high af
WANKIL !
Wait, did Brann have a picture of Rick Astley on his ear monitors, or am I tripping?
Bring on AUDREY !!!!
Bugger me this was so good…Troy nailed it though absolutely stole it

Read a comment on their new song saying they were bad live. I disagree
That intro is a biker soundtrack for sure

Fully that's the only neg thing here. Cos the rhythm guitar on the studio sounds so huge. What a performance though
