The dude on the keyboard is Nobuo Uematsu. He's the original composer of the song and the founder of the black mages. He also composed the music for most of the Final Fantasy games. He's seen as one of the godfathers, if not THE godfather of video game music composition.
The West has Darth Vader with "Imperial March" and the East has Sephiroth with "One-Winged Angel". The most iconic and intimidating villains ever created.
@@chanceneck8072 I hated the junction and magic system in 8. I still absolutely love the game, the story was amazing. I just couldn't have fun with the systems. I'd never use my magic because it was junctioned to my stats so each one I used would lower them. I ended up relying on GFs for every fight. That and junctioning made me over powered so early. If they refined the systems a bit I would rate it the best FF game ever made
@@atheist101 Yep, I totally see where you're coming from. The very first time, I played the game, I had the same problem and I couldn't get past CD2. But then I played it again and I learned about the junctioning System right from the get go. And then I learned, how fucking awesome it could be. And then I whooped the game's ass until CD4. 😅 I beat the final boss, I beat Ultima and Omega Weapon. The game was so much fun, once you got into it.
@@chanceneck8072 the problem was I learned to junction to good. I had 3k HP way before I should have had even 1k. Hit 1k damage extremely early. The enemies scale to your level, not what you have junctioned. So it was just to easy most of the time. I still love the game, I have it on Xbox and Switch. Just wish they would have refined it more and made it so you couldn't get so OP. I think the problem was the draw system. You could just set the cursor to memory and hold X on draw while in a battle. After a bit you have max of each spell that can be drawn from an enemy. Then you learn the junction abilities from GFs and bam you're OP
As a composer and music theory nut, the Black Mages and Tour de Japon make my mind blow its musical load. Nobuo Uematsu unknowingly helped start my music career when I was just having fun playing video games. Amazing and eternal.
Nobuo Uematsu is a genius. The breadth and depth of his mastery of music is just unbelievable - and it's coupled with a brilliantly creative and eccentric imagination. He's absolutely unique. With that said, I still find it weird to hear the Advent version of this song - all of the lyrics have changed from the original and the flow of the original lyrics just seems more...natural. Imagine your favourite band changed all of the lyrics of your favourite song - how weird is that?!
I dont think it is possible to have a more menacing antagonist or theme song. His style is out of this world. Not to mention his desire to wound a planet using meteor magic where he then would rebirth himself as a near god so he can use the planet as his vessel and sail the cosmos with his mother by his side.
This is the song played during the final battle in the game and when this starts to play, you know you have a long, epic battle against Sephiroth on your hands! This song is from Final Fantasy 7. Ironically, my UA-cam name comes from Final Fantasy 8 lol!
Sick. One of my favorite games, songs and metal versions. Check out the metal version of dancing mad and final fantasy meets metal suzi blui tail betty boop hana banana devilita rock rebel momma lady and metal ice. Proud of you and keep making music and videos as it.
This is one of two themes that I know (personally) where if you hear it playing...you're just about to get a total ass beating. The other is Vegeta's "Super Saiyan Theme".
I will never be a memory!😍😍😍 I absolutely love One Winged Angel, Sephiroth for the win! Also if you want a bit of One Winged Angel lore, the lyrics are in Latin, I can’t remember what the song translates to but Sephiroth translated from Latin to English is Satan, so it gives so much darkness to him as a villain and to the song as well which just makes it fit him so well!
FF7 is my favorite game of all time. I still have my original release copy from 1997. The Aerith and Tifa themes are fun to play on guitar and piano. Those two make me cry every time.

Now this version is the one from the movie FF7: Advent children wich is a bit different than the OG game one. BUT imagine this You are 13yro, as a young European, who NEVER had played a FF game before (FF7 was the first of the series to be sold and translated on EU territory). You've spent HUNDREDS of hours playing this game, exploring every nook and cranny of the GIGANTIC world map and followed a well though out, mature and brilliant story about Death, Grief and how to overcome it and continue on (each characters in the game as either survived an ordeal or are the last of their kind, and the battle song in combat is "Those that fight" and the Boss music is "those that fights Further" ) YOu reach the end of the Game and faces off Sephiroth, who in video game world is the equivalant to Dark Vader in terms of popularity and being Iconic as a Villain. Now the PS1 FF game of the time din't have the tech to have voice acting, and ALL the game's soundtracks while stellar, are all muted, since there is no lyrics nothing... Then...suddenly at 4 in the morning on a summer vacation night after a 13 hours play session to finish the game...You Hear Lyrics!!! Its the game litteraly throwing at you "BUckle up motherfucker, cause you're in for a rough ride" When you start to hear those Choir in Latin in a NON-SPOKEN game, you know that you need to put your big boy pants on and that shit is about to go down!!! And its on par for the course, when Sephiroth use his ultimate attack "Supernova" that triggers a TWO MINUTES attack animation of a Meteor hitting multiple planets of the solar systeme to go and hit the sun and turn it SUPERNOVA and scorching the Earth's surface to deal MASSIVE damahe to your party. Its was the most jaw dropping, mind fucking blowing thing i had ever seen and will ever see. When people my generation hears the first couple o fnotes of OWA, we get PTSD, thats HOW iconic Sephiroth and OWA is.
No fucking way!! This is the second video I see of you today after my #1 favorite movie, you're now reacting to one of my favorite video game music composers, Nobuo Uematsu??? I swear, if I find out, you reacted to more Final Fantasy *8* stuff or something from Akira Yamaoka, I'm gonna subscribe.....

Nobuo Uematsu and Hisaishi Joe are among the best definitely.
Uematsu and Mitsuda are to me some the greatest music composers of my time. On par of Zimmer, Williams or Morricone.
The West has Darth Vader with "Imperial March" and the East has Sephiroth with "One-Winged Angel". The most iconic and intimidating villains ever created.
Actually I prefer the FF8 soundtrack.... 😅
But it's also my favorite FF game

Never seen a The Black Mages reaction on UA-cam, and I'm all in for that!
Have those Ribbons ready for Supernova!
To me this song is the perfect example of how well classical music and metal work together.

The fact it is one man's perfectly embodied theme tells you alot about the Calamity and Menace Sephiroth is.
I really don't know why there aren't more reactions of this. I've scoured and cannot find any.
This is hands down the definitive version for me.
Just watched all of your dream theater reactions and liquid tension stuff. Now seeing you guys react to one of my favorite vg tracks is amazing.
