I had the amazing opportunity to train with the kids at the Temple for close to a month 10 years ago. They were phenomenal - what touched me most was how kind the kids are, it felt like a huge family . The training was hard core but the bonds were so strong , they supported each other always , such bright Spirits . I see a lot of negative comments , unless you go there and experience it - it’s hard to understand . I was so proud of and humbled by the kids- they spoiled me completely . I have huge respect and Love always for Shaolin and Shaolin culture.

      @@Ducati368 That's true. 😀
The vegetarianism/veganism associated with Dharmic religions truly is a great thing.
Interestingly, in ancient times, vegetarianism was extremely common in Greece, India and East Asia, especially with the spread of Hindu, Buddhist and Jain ideas. Great to see an ancient philosophy, once wide-spread, still being practiced by those who are dedicated to life and the environment.

It is character building, healthy, Teaches discipline & self defense & in these times we are in, self defense has never been more needed. Sure it wont stop a bomb, it cannot stop bullets from a machine gun but on the ground, it will keep you alive. However as a Mother, i find it beyond difficult to just say nothing & leave the child behind & leave. I would prepare & give knowledge to my child & hug & kiss goodbye, love & Respect is everything.

@@ramizparkar4199 I'm partial to that... Should Buddhist protest against their own bodies too when their mmune stytem fights against a disease? Do you get mad when your body fights off a cold for you? Or are you suggesting that Buddhist women have no right to fight and repell being sexually assaulted? Part of being a serious Martial Artist is studying all religions, as well as homogenous comminalities.
Your body fights, struggles, even against your own will, and cognitive abilities. You have to train in order to be successful at anything. There are warriors everywhere my friend, that's something noone can never stop.
The focus to not hurt a sentient being is a good focus, and Tenant of buddism. It helps us to grow, and builds a respect for each other. Would you say Buddhist temples In Thailand to not feed orphaned Thai fighters? They often feed anyone who comes in who's hungry. Buddhist believe in reincarnation, so to make it short, whatever you do in this life is a stage for your next incarnation of growth. You should know this already. It's to help you on your journey to reach the highest Heaven.. Trayastrimsa*. So in Short.. Everyone has time to perfect themselves, and get better with each life.
However you do make good point, one that has been made before. In my humble opinion, I think to study, and, to engage, people as you are doing now, with an open mind, you will find your answers to many things; but not with Martial Artist, because we aren't experts on religion & faith.
I think to be reasonable, is the focus of any serious religious person. Life is subjected to phenomenons like, evils, and imperfections; you must fight, to withstand those relative manipulations, from whare noone knows they come. Then you will truly understand, we know nothing about this existence wich we inhabit.

I'm not even sure if I can believe the tears and such on camera. They sent away their child to a freaken hardcore shaolin temple and just left him there for such a long time? That makes no logical sense how they'd lie and let them stay there that long and the child comes back and has no genuine reason to question what the heck the parents were doing. If anything that's a deeper form of child abuse. Good he became a strong monk, but against his will for so long? I can't believe the crying and hugs are genuine. There's an ulterior motive.

Attacking those parents and calling the training 'abuse' it is divergent with the reality. Those kids will face THE REALITY... The same terrible reality that we had to deal with it. They'll do it better than us, just they were presented with an amount of reality since young age. It is not bad, it is not abuse to show the kids healthy amounts of reality.

I have a huge issue with the parents of QI Yanlis parents, who in the fuck, would just abandon their own kid, at shalolin temple? Without consulting any of the instructors first? I'm surprised that kid, isn't full with hatred and anger, resentment towards his parents and especially his father, of all people...? Secondly wouldn't the kid, need permission from both of his parents to get into the temple, and have both signing an agreement, that allows the kid to reside within the temple? And how long the kid would be staying, and at what age, he would be leaving the temple, etc? It's obvious to me the kid don't want to, but what forced to, all because his father wanted to? That seems a little messed up, if you ask me?

Those kids are amazing, beautiful pure souls. But not their parents. Sending such small kids to a boarding school/temple and not seeing them for months is extremely traumatising. It's literally abandoning their kids. The thing is, in the past people used to think that boarding school is something normal. Everyone did it. That is finally changing now. I myself went to a boarding school at age 11 too, although not as young as those ones. And I could see my mother once a week, still i felt abandoned by my family. I had to soothe myself in the night. The caretakers, teachers etc. might be nice and loving. But nothing can replace the love of your mother. This old culture and understanding is luckily dying! Kung fu and it's philosophy might be good, but abandoning your 5 year old and stopping your parental responsibilities is definitely a wrong doing. They just damaged their bond with their kids. It is not something they can repair anymore. The mistake is done. Those kids might be superstars or amazing kung fu masters, but lack of their mother's unconditional love and care will be there all their lives and shape their lives. Both in terms of strength and weakness.

If he wants to train he can go to the gym with me... but I would never give the responsibility of raising my son to someone else. The monks are great and the kids are amazing. But if grandma is hand feeding and he has low energy, do something about it. It was an "oh that makes sense" when I found out he was an influencer. He said he left his son so proudly too. Silly people. The training is a lot like the usual training that made Greece and Rome...which still shapes our culture these thousands of years later. Our military leaders get a mere taste of it for their 'university' days, and we think they are tough and great leaders. Oh, sure. What effeminate fools we have evolved to be...so far removed from life's factual necessities...I'm speaking of and for myself here...who got up at four-ish to hand milk cows, always had a paper route, wrote and developed even hour Bible sermons, became a Green Beret, graduated college, took the first solar car from LA to DC in '83...knocked on damn near every door in this town for dems...played cumbia lead guitar in band in three states, am old now on my back in a convalescent hospital, and would yet love an ultralight, to learn piloting...and the basic sciences for a pilot's license...yeah, I was a fair martial artist, musician, got some languages, and haven't written a novel nor screenplay because I never learned to lie well...lots of places I haven't been...things I haven't done, either...oh, well. I may live long enough to enjoy new studies and see our American experiment continue...please trust yourselves and your fellow humans...

You can teach your children discipline, kungfu, and many other life skills, but balance is key. Children learn best in a playful and happy environment. I am a parent myself and I know how busy and challenging parenting journey can be, but putting your child in a Shaolin Temple without parent supervision IS NOT PARENTING. Parents are supposed to be there to love, to protect, to teach, to be role models, and to guide their children in every step of the way, not leaving them somewhere with third parties just because it's convenient for you. This is 100% child abuse and this is the beginning of childhood trauma. I am praying for these beautiful children for better outcomes. Please if you genuinely care about the world and our next generation, you should NOT support this video and anything related to such extreme youth trainings.

Bottom line, these boys are probably better off at the shaolin school learning from people who master the skills, rather than growing up in an environment where their parents and grandparents make them "do tricks" in front of the camera saying "see? it wasn't that hard" when they couldn't do 1% of what the boys do. Terrible that the parents are on social media so long, leaving the grandparent to look after kids than having to send away because being over spoilt. Send Granny away n look after your own kids!
