This is a quick and dirty video about sometimes having the right tool for the job makes things so much easier. Pulling carrier bearings can be a task, you spent all this time pulling axles and getting the carrier out and now you're like what do I do now? There are many ways to pull a bearing but having this tool makes it so simple the process can be done in seconds.

I bought this carrier bearing tool using the link in your video, and boy was I glad I did! I pulled the bearings off my Dana 70 Powr Lok differental super quick. Now I just have to by a shim kit from one of my local speed shops here in NJ. It think it is a 36mm socket. Thanks for posting the video!

I have the same puller and none of the clamshells worked for dodge 9.25 carrier bearings but did work for the pinion bearing. It did work for my Chevy 8.6 carrier bearings though.

Awesome! I'm wondering if it would work on BMW 188 diffs : output socket is 27mm ID clear; Bearing OD is 90mm; 60mm OD on the inner race. the manufacturer's site doesn't list any specs. Much appreciated if you could post up the diameters on the tool.
Can i only replace the carrier bearings on my gm 3.23 of a 2017 escalade and leave the penion and its bearings preload alone?

$229 😂 HarborFreight press and bearing puller would seem to be the way to go if someone was looking to start removing bearing. The press would have more uses than one function.

I need help my bmw 640i diff pin came loose i was trying to fix it and notice i cant put the diff apart i dont have those 16 big bolts to remove the diff apart how can i do it anyone?

Most of the time no damage to the bearings.
Yes it damages them. Maybe not visually , they may look fine, but pulling on the cage like this tool does will 100% ruin the bearing.
Can I rent this on my local auto parts store?

I got lucky, my carrier bearings had a light press . I pried them off.

@@TestDontguess well I got it open today and right away I could see the diff cracked in half starting where the axle retainer dowel goes through and the pinion gear has grinded up teeth. Uh oh!
Freeze carrier heat bearing to 400 degrees drop on. look up on UA-cam how to install bearing without a press
