Tips for Installing Differential Carrier Bearings

Installing Carrier Bearings isn't hard but you can screw it up and damage the bearing if your not careful

There is many different ways to installing tapered roller bearings however in this video i'm using a press which is the easiest method by far. There is other methods like heating up the bearing, tapping it on but the hydraulic press is the best and also dangerous.

I always put the bearings in the oven and the carrier in the freezer, they almost always just fall on with ease. No press needed.

Good vid and info I always save old bearings and races for the press . (Grab a 20 ton air hydraulic jack saves on lining up and jiggly

I’m surprised you didn’t use “The Devil’s Lube” instead. It evaporates shortly after to avoid issues with too much lubrication.

If you have the ball joint press kit it has a cap that is a perfect fit for setting the bearing that final plop

Ive setup replaced pinion bearings made a front pinion bearing puller shimmed the lash with richmond shims, all i need to set up now is posi.
