I got lucky enough to adopt a Malshi from my local shelter in February. She was already housetrained, plays fetch with stuffies, and isn't a barker or a biter! I won the lottery!
I had a Malshi. Recently passes around August. He was a great dog, snuggle bug, barked at every little noise. Overall these are great pets, especially for families!
Have fun with her, i have a malshi who is 7 months and she’s a HANDFULL but I wouldn’t trade her for anything! Have fun with her, most malshis ive met have had tough time collaborating with other dogs so try and introduce her to dogs while she’s young!
I love our doggy! We have had him for 7 years. Just found out what his breed (mix) is. He is the most lovable, playful, chill dog ever. When it's his time to go over the rainbow bridge, we will get another mixed Mal-Chi. They are incredible!
My little girl is such a sweet pup! I use to have big dogs, but this little one I now understand the appeal for small dogs. They are so cuddly and love to be with you all the time.
My gramma has a Maltese shitzhu and I simply adore her she’s such a little lover and so happy to see you all the time wether you’ve been gone for 5 minutes or 5 months
They are very smart. I always say my dog is a human. My dog knows to trade her treat with my daughter for beef jerky without anybody teaching her. She is also very picky eater. She was easy potty train. Never make mess inside house. She is so pretty!
My beloved boy passed away last year. Not a day goes by without thinking and missing him so much. He left but I will always keep him in my heart. My Gizzy 😢
I had a Maltese Shitzoo his name was snowy and lived up to 17 years. We now have a new malshi who is expecting and we are keeping one to name it junior after our previous job
We had our Malshi, Fiona, for almost 15 years. We had someone in our area who bread them when we got her but she retired and now there is no one 😢. She was the sweetest baby ever and stole everyone’s hearts. I hope we can find another somewhere in our state or a surrounding one where we can drive to pick her up because I won’t have a dog shipped to me. Congratulations on your upcoming pups! ❤️
I had a mutt whose parents were both Malshis, he only lived up to 12 but my 7 year old Shih Tzu and my 3 year old Maltese are just as precious as he was :)
How active, outgoing, and intelligent is your Malshi? Are they always happy and ready for a good play session? What's your favorite thing about these cute little pooches? Do let us know in the comments!🐶
My Malshi is active for about 45 minutes then will chill for about 3-4 hrs. He sleeps all night mostly. He is so smart! He is 10 weeks and is already starting to potty train properly! They are very singular type people but love everyone. Favorite thing with mine is he Hugs!
Mine was never very active but loved to play with his toys and run around when he was a puppy. His favorite activity now is to curl up with his mom(that's me) and sleepy. He is 14 now.
I just got my little girl. Her name is Stevie. She’s 8 weeks old and she is the sweetest most playful little sassafras! She terrorizes her big brothers, who are both Shih-tzu’s but it’s all in good fun. I highly recommend this breed!
My mal shih is named jasper. He is very well behaved to the point where when I take him places a lot of ppl ask if he barks. Lol answer yes yes he does but not unnecessarily. I have trained him to only bark when necessary aka he hears something or if he can not get my attention. He only stares when he needs something aka go outside, hungry, thirsty. He is a very good boy, was easily crate trained, loves people especially children since I got him use to them and traveling as a puppy so he loves both. He is 14 now and very spoiled. He has cataracts. :)
Thank you for sharing your experience with Jasper. It's wonderful to hear that he’s a well-behaved dog and that you have trained him to bark only when necessary. Sounds like you have developed a strong bond with him, and he has adapted well to your family. Cataracts can be a common condition in older dogs, but I’m sure you’re taking care of it. Wishing you and Jasper many more happy and cherished moments together!🐾❤️
I have a question hopefully someone can answer anyways, me and my family adopted a shihtzu/Maltese mix from another family. At first she was shy but now she’s happy and runs around and gets along with everyone. The one problem I’m seeing with my dog is that she doesn’t like to eat. Her previous owner gave us kibble that she likes but when we feed it to her she won’t eat it. We tried mixing it with wet food(chicken and rice pedigree) and she still wouldn’t eat it. Then we just gave her pedigree on its own and she eats it every now and then but half of the times she sniffs the food and walks away even when she’s really hungry. I was wondering if there’s something I can do to fix this problem?
My older sister has two Malshi Hendrix and Pluto. In April, Pluto gave birth to five puppies and my mom adopted one of them we named Daisy. She’s so cute but tends to whine sometimes
I now have a Maltese shutuz she is 2 months now. Having an issue with potty training. She pee on the pad but boo boo on the floor. If any one has any suggestions please let me know. Thank you.
If you can take her out side as often as possible. When she does her business make a big deal out of it. "Good girl wee wees" give her a treat. She will learn that peeing outside and when you say "wee wee time" she will know what you mean. Encouragement is the key.
I bought a spray for mine and she started using the mat, try show her what she’s doing wrong if you can instead of yelling because she’s a baby and doesn’t know what’s wrong
As a groomer, I have to say... absolutely nothing "allergy-friendly" is gained by deliberately making this crossbreed. I love shih tzus, I love maltese as well, but both of those breeds already have very similar (not exact, but similar) coat types, and neither is prone to shedding. I would personally just get a shih tzu, because I find their coats somewhat easier to work with. Maltese hair tends to be a little finer, and can often be more prone to matting. These mixed-breed malti-tzus (I have groomed literally dozens of these, if not hundreds by this point, and have never once heard anyone call them a "malshi", though I'm sure it varies from place to place) can sometimes inherit that more difficult coat. If you get one of these little sweeties, please be prepared to not only brush, but COMB their fur every day, making sure to get all the way down to the skin. Every. Single. Day. (Some pups won't need it quite that often, but you'll be amazed at how quickly they'll knot up in places with lots of friction, especially if you just brush the top of the coat and never touch what's underneath. You have to brush all of the hair, which is why I recommend the comb.)
Is it just me or has there been less Shih tzu around in general? I don’t mind this breed if they breath easier of course and extra genes in the gene pool would be nice. But I think other dogs like apso laso would be better for the similar coat? I havnt groomed many dogs but fine hair is definitely a pain.
I can certainly vouch for this comment. I brush my dog daily and sometimes multiple times a day. He is an amazing dog and I love him dearly but he is definitely a higher maintenance dog.
Hi fellow owners! My dog is only 1 year old and he has had extensive GI issues to the point he can only be fed hills prescription wet food allergen free. Anyone had a similar experience or any advice ? Thank you!
I have a sweet lil girl named Bailey Bear. She is also a spit fire 🔥. She barks loudly at my other dog (shitzu) when he takes her toy. Which he does constantly, to mess with her (typical big brother attitude).
I have a 4 month old Malshi that I DO NOT understand. She consistently runs from me and hides under the bed when I make the slightest move. She follows me but if I turn or try to pick her up she RUNS!! She also barks loudly to the point I can't bring her to work with me as I've been doing with my 4 yo Maltese. My Maltese is so confused because she has been going to work with me since she was 8 weeks old and now I have to leave her at home because of the Malshi. I got both from the same breeder but this one is really baffling me. She is my 3rd but most difficult so far.
I pet sit a malshi, she was so scarey and aggressive. She bit her sister a doodle dog she made her to bleed. I had to cover her mouth and put her on a leash inside the house.
Stating that this breed needs only 10 to 15 mins a day to go outside and only once a day is the biggest lie ever... All dogs unless they are old and sick need more then 15 mins a day of exercise, and going only once a day is terrible an should be considered animal abuse. You dont deserve subscibers for sharing false information.

I had a Malshi. Recently passes around August. He was a great dog, snuggle bug, barked at every little noise. Overall these are great pets, especially for families!
We had to put ours to sleep yesterday, 15 years old, he was the best and will be missed dearly. 😢
The same thing happened to us this week. Only 9yrs old and healthy until a couple of weeks ago 😢
So sorry for the loss of your fur baby❤
I just got a Malshi last Saturday and I'm so in love with her. She's a little spitfire and cute as can be.

Have you taken her to a dentist to see if that might be the reason? Best of luck.
Take her to the vet to get checked out

Can you just keep their hair short with a puppy cut? Does that prevent matting?
Can you help me find a Maltese/shih-tzu micro please?
