    I’ve been having untold problems trying to understand what thumb adopter is needed to be attached to connect the smart lock Customer service is hit and miss I have moved into a newly built house and there is no obvious cylinder name other than it states SKG 2 Star . SBD. any thoughts ?

      There might be a brand on the cylinder if you remove it (really easy to do)...if not...they are really easy to replace and pretty affordable so you could pick up a new one. This video shows how to remove ua-cam.com/video/X9A915L_mlk/v-deo.html

    Hi Mark - really informative videos thank you!
    Like you I have a door which requires an extra little turn on the key to gain entry from outside.
    Does this mean that I would be forced to use the Nuki app to unlock my front door with HomeKit currently only supporting “locked” and “unlocked”?

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  3 місяці тому

      The simple answer is yes…
      The more complicated answer is that if your door is locked then unlocking from the home app will also do that little extra turn but if all you need to do is that little extra turn then you’ll need to use the Niki app…I usually trigger that open from a Niki widget on my home screen
      The ‘open’ feature has actually been added to Matter 1.2 so at some point for the 4th gen Nuki locks it should make it into the Apple Home app but I have no idea when Apple will add it!

      @@MarksTechVlogs gotcha - I wonder whether this is what’s holding back Nuki from offering Apple homekey support :(
      So in the meantime, if I understand correctly, if my door is fully locked, say when I come back from work, the lock will Auto Unlock using Bluetooth.
      But if I nip out to the car and shit the door behind me I use the app like you say.

      @@stugedwards Yes that's right,
      I think it's to do with how Apple verify Homekey and at the moment there's no retrofit Homekey lock available however, the Aqara U200 is due out in July and does have Homekey so whether that will open up the door for Nuki to implement it will be interesting to see

    Hi @MarksTechVlogs, really informative videos! I'm currently in the process of ordering a new aluminium door (with pull bar handles internally and externally) and have watched several of your videos on the Ultron Nuki Pro and Nuki (4th Gen) Pro.
    So is the main thing I need to check, is the new cylinder lock that comes standard allows you to unlock while a key is in on the other side? In which case I probably wouldn't need the Ultron version?

      That’s right…or you can just get one with a thumb turn cylinder on the inside as quite a few are compatible with the Nuki with one of their free converters…Yale is probably the most common brand they support

    I got 3.0 with a bridge for 100€ from eBay today as a entry.

    About to push the button on a smart lock but the missus doesn't like the size of the nuvi. Should we try the Tedee Go or get a fitted option for our multipoint lock. We don't mind paying a company to come fit a complete solution

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  6 місяців тому +1

      I don’t know much about the Tedee and I think the main fitted one for multi points is the Yale connexis which I’ve not heard good things about. If the inside of your door is white or black then the Nuki in that colour just blends in

      @MarksTechVlogs thanks for the response stayed up watching vids (mostly german) the size difference on the Tedee Go and Pro is quite atractive

    Thoughts as an avid Apple fanboy (Alexa is a bad word in our home 😂) on a preloved 3.0 (non-pro) with bridge?

    • @MarksTechVlogs
      @MarksTechVlogs  5 місяців тому +1

      I’m assuming you have something like an Apple TV or HomePod acting as your HomePod so actually a 3 would probably be a pretty good choice with it’s HomeKit compatibility (I’ve switched away from Alexa and use HomePod minis nowadays)

    • @datakid360

      @@MarksTechVlogs Yes, 4 Apple TVs and several HomePods (full size and mini). I think I saw your Homebridge hack for a button which in turn could be switched on/off for homekit automation also - this is what I’d want also. Lastly, would I therefore be ‘open’ future-proof/supported for when that lands in homekit later with the hub, or would I miss out on that unless I had a 4.0?

    • @MarksTechVlogs

      I’m not sure about the open feature and homekit…we probably won’t know the answer until Apple updates home
