  • Through store closures and possible buyouts, Macy’s is going through a lot right now! In this video, we check out the state of an average Macy’s store in March 2024. This location is Macy’s at CoolSprings Galleria in Franklin, TN.
JULY 2024 UPDATE: Macy’s Inc. has rejected Arkhouse and Brigade’s final $6.9 billion offer to buy the company. This means that ownership will remain with Macy’s, who will continue with their current plan to close 150 stores.

If the sign is from two years ago it means the sale hasn't changed, so they left the sign up. 1/3 of department store clothing racks are actually in a perpetual discount. Technically, they could keep the signs up for many, many years. However, periodically the "upper management" visits the stores, so associates will put up fresh signs.

Given the state of the mall, I think this location is safe.

Macy's is too high priced and out of touch of mid-America! I'll be surprised that they will stay up and running!

Actually Macy's was always priced very reasonably. The less expensive items from online/big box retailers may look identical, in identical packaging but are lesser quality, that's the reality.

I hate shopping at Macy's in Mid-America. We have two lousy Macy's here in Overland Park KS, and they never have anything in stock. I had 6 malls in Northern VA that I could go to, and at least 3 Macy's would have my size in stock. I don't feel like shopping for overalls and straw hats. I once ticked off a group of Macy's merchandisers when they were doing a walk through at Oak Park. I couldn't find a pair of jeans in stock so I started looking at my phone. Someone came over from their group and asked if they could help me find something. I politely told her no, that I found it at JCPenny in the same mall and walked out. I walked back through Macy's with my JCPenny bag (car was parked near the men's entrance). Don't want to stock it, fine I don't need to shop there. I hate online shopping and hoping it's the right color and size and then running back to the store to return it.
