    Nice video with no silly gimmicks, very nicely done. Love the minimalism of this car too, proper buttons and no annoying/distracting touch screen to contend with.

    Really good review. Since learning about the e-up, I’m finding it hard to choose between purchasing the e-up or the polo manual. Any suggestions? Price wise will work out the same.

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  Рік тому +1

      Glad you liked the review! As for your question, depends on your trips and mileage you usually do. If it's shorter ones or around 150 miles max, would definitely suggest the e-up! as it's a lot more fun to drive. However, if you're going on longer trips, don't want to wait to recharge and potentially have a bit more standard equipment vs the Up, then the Polo might be the better shout.

    I wish VW would bring this e-UP to Australia. It would be a perfect car for my day-to-day drive to work.

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  2 роки тому

      Looks like VW has axed the e-Up in the UK - alongside the Seat Mii Electric and Skoda EVs, they're now no longer available!

    • @johnmanderson2060

      Actual not, only the height is adjustable. That is the only drawback of this car.

    I can’t believe the Up! still doesn’t have a infotainment screen. It’s the most expensive of its kind and even one of the cheapest (Aygo) has a modern dashboard with big screen.

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  3 роки тому +5

      True, although, your phone will be more up-to-date and useful than the vehicle infotainment system.

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  2 роки тому +1

      They would indeed, but ultimately the cabin isn't well insulated due to the sound proofing and materials used!

    Very nice review. I love the e-Up, but my understanding is that is not produced any more in any of its three variants by January 2021.

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  3 роки тому

      Glad you liked the review! Oh, that might be the case, given the Mii Electric is ultimately a near-identical car, and that VW now has the ID.3 (which we currently have on review this week!)

    10:15 You got it wrong 🙄 You only pull back the lever to switch back and forth between D (Freewheeling) and B (regen level 4, maximum regen) it is actually extremely practical in comparison of more expensive EV cars as you have a wide range of strategies to recuperate energy, especially when driving downslope. You can let the car increase speed with gravity and pull back the lever at the best moment to maximize strong regen and braking before the road turn. If you go downwards in one pedal driving, you end up using more energy than by freewheeling.

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  Рік тому

      Doing that regularly on the move isn't what we'd describe as practical. So no, didn't get it wrong :)

    • @Alistair89
      @Alistair89 3 роки тому +1

      Exactly! I don't get this guy I wanted to like his review but he's unhappy with things that aren't important. Who is going to care that your regen setting isn't the same each time you get into the car?
      You might want to drive the car differently each time you drive it.

    • @TotallyEV
      @TotallyEV  3 роки тому +3

      Well, people who drive electric cars as their daily driver, will. Ultimately, it's to do with how the Volkswagen Group implement it, even in their £95K cars it's not a feature, and it's cumbersome. Without people like ourselves highlighting it, maybe it'll never change. While, rival manufacturers have the technology in place to make it happen. It's really rocket science.

    No heater vents on the centre of the dash.....drive with warm right hand but cold left hand. This is what made me NOT buy the car.
