- Crash Nitro Kart is the successor of Crash Team Racing and owes almost everything to it, leading to inevitable comparisons between both games. The developers, Vicarious Visions, didn't have an easy task. They had to somehow make this game live up to its predecessor, which was to be expected considering how much more powerful the consoles that the game was running on were. In terms of design, environments, characters and storyline, the game definitely delivered. However, that's exactly where the good things stop, as everything else is just below of what it should have been. In the video, we can see many of the developers' first intentions towards the game. Some of them are impressive, other not that much, and a few, very special are just damn awesome.

Yeah, quite the foreshadowing now that I think about it.
Crash Team Racing also had an altitude meter, it's just it was always present next to the speedometer.
The key word in your comment is "always". The one in Crash Nitro Kart was only going to appear when the player jumps or falls from one portion of the track to another.

Yeah, the only weapons the regular CPU racers have access to are the homing missiles and bowling bombs. Also Fake Crash, N. Tropy, Velo, and Pura never appear as CPUs. Unlike the beta version where Pura may appear as a CPU. In the beta version, you can also have more than two CPUs of each team racing at once, which doesn't occur in the final version.

Thanks, dude! I am truly planning on making videos showing the beta footage of all Crash Bandicoot games, with the exception of the ones on the handheld consoles and mobile versions. This means that all I have left are Crash Twinisanity, Crash Tag Team Racing, Crash of the Titans, Crash: Mind Over Mutant and Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy.

Hello my friend! I enjoyed watching your new film. However, I want to talk about something else, about the CNK disk that I have. It's a red disc, with the name of the game at the top. This is the version of PAL, released in Austria, at the bottom of the image of Crash on the cart. It was released in 2003. This is an adapted version in Russian. I bought it , accidentally, around 2009. The CD is still in excellent condition, I rarely play CNK. Probably, this is a rare CD of CNK. However, I did not find any difference with the usual retail version of the game. By the way, the translation into Russian,on this disc is made extremely unsuccessfully and usually causes me to laugh. XD))
There are many different versions of original discs and cases of PS1/PS2 games. It all depends on the country in which they were manufactured. This also means that the back side of the case can include various screenshots, most of the time from the actual game, and rarely any from its beta version. Honestly, I prefer the very original case of a certatin game. I have the one for Crash Nitro Kart and some of the screenshots from this video are indeed at the back of the case.

Yes, I just saw them. The left and right screenshots from the second row and the bottom three are all from the beta version and they were used in this video. The middle one from the second row is also from the beta version as evidenced from the speedometer. I'm not sure about the top three because nothing in them points out that they are from an earlier build of the game.

Indeed. But you know, I have always wondered why the developers, or the manufacturers for that matter, place beta screenshots on the back of the cases? Not saying that I have something against it. On the contrary actually, I fully support it. It's just funny to me that they are there despite this being the final version of the game.
I like it too. Either the design was complete and they couldn't change it, or it's just a fun thing to leave on. A little easter egg.

I will increase the photo on the computer and post it in the "Photo" on my page in Google + and I'll tell you about it. You yourself will see what these screenshots represent and if there are any screenshots from the beta version among them.))
I always said CNK was nothing compared to CTR. CNK had great concepts but I feel they were executed poorly. The control scheme for the game feels too icy and loose and I never feel like I'm in control, even when drifting and that's bad. It's just like with Mario Kart Double Dash and MK8, which is why I prefer Wii.
Nice facts though, I just hope if they remaster CTR, they keep everything from the original game the same, add more characters and maybe some bonus designed tracks.
Very well put and detailed comment. I agree with every word. The game just comes off as a disappointment that falls short of the expectations set by the brilliant CTR. It desperately tries to be the same game with some added features, but it ends up taking away more than it adds to the package.
If Activision ever authorize a remastered version of Crash Team Racing, the two things I would like the most are to keep it perfectly balanced in everything like the PS1 version and an Online Mode where we can compete against each other in races and battles.

Cool video. It's interesting how it claims "race as virtually any crash character" but you can't play as Krunk, Nash, Norm and Geary
It also left out half the roster from CTR, as well as Brio and Nina who were slated for this game, but never made the cut.

+Mulpti Yes, a little mishap, I guess. However, you can play as them in the Game Boy Advance version of the game.
And other OG crash characters like N. Brio Koala Kong, Pinstripe and Ripper Roo and a lot of others
Man it’s suck you can’t playa as bosses from cnk of crash nitro kart and shame Rilla Roo was supposed to be playable this game 2003 but the developers should take their time rushing in a past

That's correct. Vicarious Visions really nailed the soundtracks for the game. The ones for Assembly Lane and Hyper Spaceway in particular are my favourite ones.
you forgot something, in the trailer pura always show to be the cpu. but in the final version pura never race as a computer/cpu/ai along with fake crash, n trophy and velo

I have a weird cartridge of the GBA version that i think is a prototype because everything works fine EXCEPT fake crash doesn't exist in the roster, and trying to unlock him as u get near crashes with a horrendous noise. Also N-Oxide is locked permanently and i have no idea how to fix it. Due to this I'm using an emulator to play, but I want to know how to fix this.
Having a cartridge with beta content is indeed a rare thing, dude. I have always wanted to have such discs for my games. Demo versions count, I guess, but 95% of them do not contain the full game. Anyway, I really don't know how you can fix this. I'm not sure if it's even possible, to be honest.

Umm on the Back of my Xbox case That’s not PAL I see the Altitude meter and that same screenshot(First 3 shown)
I believe the screenshots are from the PS2 copy of the game, not the Xbox one. I should have clarified.

As much as I hate to admit it since I'm a fan of PlayStation, you are right, dude. The Xbox version is the better one in this case.
