DOWNSPOUT DRAIN-CATCH BASIN FOR YARD DRAINAGE

This client reached out to Texas Drain Solutions for some yard drainage ideas. Rainwater flooding into the garage was the problem. The concrete border at the flower bed blocked the outflow of rainwater from the downspout and the sod's elevation was higher than the swale in the driveway preventing the driveway from draining off ; Consequently, during heavy rains, water was able to enter the garage. Our team installed downspout drainage and a 6" inch round surface water catch basin to collect the water from the driveway and divert the water to a nearby creek. Products used on this drainage project were 4" inch SDR 35 PVC drain pipe and fittings with a 6" inch round surface water catch basin from NDS.

From the pic at 0:30, it looks like the catch basin should be closer to the garage inside the brick border near the shrub.

The driveway had a swale at that location..drive sloped toward garage, water running from alley toward garage and would flood into garage. The border trapped the water, allowing water to enter the garage at the corner, hence the downspout drain, the catch basin diverted water from the driveway to the creek.
