"Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven conscious of his fleeting time here" is my favourite line ever written
Brian Goley “I’m slipping back into the gap again, I’m alive when you’re touching me and not when you’re shoving me down” one of my favs from pushit also. The whole song is perfect. Salival is good,,, but I still prefer the original.
Travis B Alrighty then my little PC snowflake. Try not to be offended by every little UA-cam comment you stumble over. He was merely expressing his love for the band and never said that „we“ actually includes „you“. Maybe he was referring to the people who actually share his sentiment.
Bro... Travis B...shut the fuck up lol...you suck...you give Tool junkies everywhere a bad name you douche lmao... And let me say before you reply, shut up some more guy...shut the fuck up
@Mike Smith If I ever came into my home and my family/friends were there looking to hold a TOOL intervention for me, I'd walk straight out, go to the court house, divorce my ENTIRE family and block all my friends numbers, then move! I don't need to quit, I can stop anytime I want....I just never plan to do so!
@@tek4wiseman Well I'm not sure if you know this but the heaven in that line does not refer to any religious places. It refers literally to 'the heavens' i. e. The skies, space. Compared to the grandness of the universe we are nothing and all our petty quarrels are insignificant.
It looks like right around 0:07:30 you start to have a spiritual crisis/emotial evolution. Thank you for sharing your honest reaction even though you appear to be bumbling and shaken to your core afterwards.
You're my favorite person to watch do tool reactions... Thanks.. side note... I feel that tool songs should be heard without a screen w lyrics , at least the first time through.. anyone else agree?
Was about to say the same thing... Lateralus is probably the best for this, however Aenima would be my second choice since you have reacted to less from that album. I think you would be surprised how many views you would get.
I don't know about anyone else, but I would totally watch you do a whole album reaction. Especially if it's an album you've already heard a lot of tracks from. That way you could maybe be a little more engaged with the audience while you listen. I think Lateralus would be perfect for that. Edit: you've already reacted to 8 out of 13 tracks off Lateralus anyway, so it would be a perfect contender. And the album as a whole is a masterpiece as well.
You’re wrong. Pretty sure if you did a live stream of AEnima you get a killer turn out. I’d be there. You would get a lot out of it too. We would fill in the blanks. OK man love your channel.
Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here- OH MY GOD! Who could write this? I’m absolutely stunned!
I can see your brain trying to make out the time signatures in the instrumental break :) How you can stop yourself from diving into an entire discography once getting a taste of Tool is beyond me, but I thank you for having such self-control. Made my day. Thanks, Jim.
So awesome watching the look on people's faces when they hear another new tool song and realize it another piece of perfection. The satisfaction and pure amazement on their face gets me every time.
I watch many (way too many) reaction channels. But damn Jim, your reactions and insight are light years better than the rest. Thanks for being "you." Cheers!
When my grandfather passed, there was so much fighting over whom got his property. In the end; the property was divided in two and given half to myself and half to my brother. Even with the death of family; we 'Silly Monkeys' fought instead of mourned.
I think you might be surprised how many people would enjoy a full album stream. Been apart of a few and it is always a fun time watching along with the chat.
I know I am late to the party, but it is a pleasure to see someone who understands Tool. I am glad some reaction videos react to Tool, but I don't think they truly grasp it all the way. Kudos.
Didn't need to listen to this to push like, but did still listen to the song. It's just so good! I read that Maynard had told the vocals been recorded for their next album. Ooo, tension grows!
Jim- you should consider taking a weekend to listen to all their albums in chronological order( on your own time obvs) I really think you would appreciate hearing their growth and it’s can be a bit hard to grasp that after jumping around different albums/time periods. Keep on spiraling 🤘
I’ve been waiting for this!!! Edit (now that I’ve watched it): 1) as a 40 year old woman, I hereby give you permission to say “mankind” without having to justify it. It’s fine. Not sexist to say it. 2) I love the look of joy and contentment on your face as you listen. It perfectly represents how I feel when I listen. 3) I’d watch your whole album review! But I can see how that would feel like a bit much on your end. Maybe you could listen on your own and post a review right after? I’d like to hear your thoughts after you get the full experience. RIGHT after, though - not an hour or a day or two later. Any album would be great but it seems like 10,000 Days would be a natural choice to start? Love your channel!
Cool, thanks Kory! Very glad you enjoy my silly videos and the channel generally. Also VERY pleased to have received permission to use “mankind” in the way I meant! Seems several people are commenting about the whole album thing. May be I will do it after all, but not quite yet! Thanks, Jim
This is by far my most favorite Tool song ever. I can listen to it over and over and over and never get bored with it. Thanks for reviewing it and appreciating it for what it is. Perfection!
Solid break down! "Right in two," as a concept, is also a reference to our self-defeating attachment to binaries. Rather than seeing the whole of something, we start picking it apart into categories. There's a usefulness in naming, but look what we've done with it (especially in terms of us v them, me v you, mine v yours, right v wrong, man v woman, black v white, etc). But life (and the universe) is ever moving, ever evolving, animate and conscious and made up of multiplicities across overlapping lifetimes. Our effort to create clear delineations causes us to obsess over fears of loss--loss of a preferred "piece," or whatever it is we most identify with. (And splitting the atom for massive destructive power, when we never needed to split it in the first place.)
I love tool and I love seeing your reactions to a lot of these songs. It's always interesting to hear your perspective! Hopefully that new album will be out soon!
Love your reviews. Goose bumps all over 2 seconds in because I know whats coming. The grin on your face when it kicks in was priceless. Your right , there's not enough adjectives to describe tool . It's almost impossible to chose a fave tool song but that ones up there. Keep up the good work.
Hi there and happy new year. I'm new to the channel and quite like the honesty you put in your reactions. If I may, here are a few recommendations that I am sure you never came across except maybe the first: First and most obvious for their incredible musicianship and style Symphony X (say Revelation (Divus Pennae ex Tragoedia) if you don't mind reacting to non music videos which seem to be the case) You heard the singer in Ayreon (Russel Allen) Second Trivium song Shogun Then if you're ok for instrumental music : Paul Wardingham (Convergence) and Angel Vivaldi (Dopamine) Finally for something out of your comfort zone I believe : Shokran (Destiny Crucified) It's an egyptian themed metal band from Russia :) Abiogenesis (Vizualize) Sorry for the long comment but I really believe there is something of interest in listening to this and maybe continue expanding your musical horizons. All the best
Yes! One of my favs from the album, although asking for ones fav Tool song is like asking if you prefer breathing or eating :D Could you make a reaction to Riverside - The Curtain Falls Reality Dream live? :)
This is a great song. It’s not one I go out of my way to listen to compared to others. I don’t know why. But I think you’d be very fulfilled by Third Eye. So many movements. Song is a journey. And in my opinion their pinnacle.
PLEASE DO TOOL- NO QUARTER (LED ZEPPELIN COVER) ITS BEAUTIFUL 💥 Don’t worry, if you’ve not heard the original by Zeppelin first, Tool makes it their own and it’s phenomenal!
Lateralus album review, would watch! Best album ever especially when listened to from start to finish laying on the couch with lights off and eyes closed. It's definitely an experience as they say...
Just figured I should post a few recommendations... less than last time lol. More Isis of course, but try out Marrow by Yob, Legend or Dead Roots Stirring by Elder, Any Port, the Reptilian Brain, and Sundial by Intronaut, Requiem or Juggernaut by Cave In, and Pink or Just Abandoned Myself by Boris. Thanks for doing these, hopefully people can find some great music by listening along with you. Also, I'd totally watch full album reactions, especially for bands like Tool, Porcupine Tree, and Isis, where the whole is more than the sum of its parts.
If reception is your only concern, I'd watch your take on how one of their albums comes together both thematically and musically. The whole thing. Your voice is quite pleasant and Tool is quite pleasant to listen to aswell. So I see no reason why I wouldn't take and evening of you talking me through your thoughts on how an album of theirs is composed.
"Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven conscious of his fleeting time here" is my favourite line ever written
its a bloody good one
"If when I say I might fade like a sigh if I stay" from Pushit is my favorite line ever

Mine too. It’s a masterfully written lyric, sends chills down my spine
Nothing is as beautiful as "fuck you, buddy"
We would totally watch you listen to an entire Tool album. We're kind of junkies, if you hadn't noticed. :)

Matthew Fifer is it possible to divorce a family member that isn’t a spouse? Isn’t that just disownment?
Travis B Maynard agrees 💪🤘🏻👏👁🦷
Tool never gets old.
Right in Two should be taught in schools. What a well put piece of poetry.
Thank you Jim.
haha good idea but religion is thought in school, not atheism, thats something u need to learn
@@MrBiffi kinda confused are you saying this song is about teaching atheism? If so you need to take a real real hard gander at the body of Tools work.
Repugnant is a creature who would squander the ability to lift an eye to heaven, conscious of his fleeting time here. - Right in Two
Has to be one of my favourite lines ever.

It’s actually
Gotta divide it all right in two
Gotta divide it all right in two
Gotta divide it all right in two
Gotta divide it all right in two
This one has been long overdue, one of their best, particularly from a lyrical point of view.
agreed.. although the instrumentals in this are excellent too! dannys drumming in this one blows my mind.
Gives me goosebumps

I love that you continue to call MJK: 'Mallard'

One of their bests. Great message and incredibly melodic
I would watch a whole album review. For Tool, by you... definitely. Thanks man. You do the best reactions.
Tool are multifunctional!

Love the tool reactions.
Love your views, love your insights, so to speak. Thanks!
Right in Two is definitely a contender as the best Tool song! Nice reaction :A
You have already done most of 10,000 Days anyways. A Lateralus album would be awesome, would love to watch thay
Happy 2019! New Tool album vocals are recorded! Just needs mixing now!
I know I am late to the party, but it is a pleasure to see someone who understands Tool. I am glad some reaction videos react to Tool, but I don't think they truly grasp it all the way. Kudos.
Thank you, Jim, for your brilliant reactions! Spiral out🌀!
Thanks for the videos Jim. If you were to do a full album listen through, you would have my view and thumbs up!
oh boy right into it, my fav Tool song.
You're the first "Tool reaction" that I've seen get that he's using Tablas in that solo and not bongos. Good ear sir.
You must have seen Robert Houghton react to this lol. Bongos lol
This is my favourite tool song BY FAR. Everything about this song is perfect to me
Didn't need to listen to this to push like, but did still listen to the song. It's just so good! I read that Maynard had told the vocals been recorded for their next album. Ooo, tension grows!
I heard this too. Exciting!
You the man Jim
One of my favorites from Tool. I agree, perfection.
I would watch that in a heartbeat. It'd be like listening with a friend... but I'd be at work or something.

Mankind is an inclusive term, just as we are huMAN, there are MAN and woMAN. Idk it seems like a weird argument to just stop using it.
You seem to be suffering from a toxic case of internalized misogyny. I will pray for you.
Crippsy 😂😂😂

What a way to kick off the new year! What a great track. Such great musicians and amazing lyrics. Perfect reaction
jimmy!! this feels like it was six months ago! really looking forward to another tool listen with you.
Lyrics *almost* correct. The chorus is:
Cut and divide it all, right in two
This is an amazing song. Love how Justin’s bass comes it. One of my all time favourite songs. The bass, awesome.
You look so incredibly happy with the percussion
I will happily watch any video of you reacting to a TOOL album!
WOOHOO!! You are going to dig this track man!! Thanks for the gift! :0D
This made my day, Jim.
I love how appreciative of this and into it you are.

10:55 "I don't think I want to do a whole album... nobody wants to watch that." Thank goodness you've changed your mind for Fear Inoculum, my friend.
Your reaction and description was on point my good man. Cheers to you.
Thankyou Jim :)
Awesome. Happy New Year Jim. Such a brilliant song.
YAY 🥂
Your reactions and thoughts are fantastic. Time to do The Pot!!
Happy new year Jim! Another great reaction, I honestly can't wait you to react with all of us to the new Tool album this year! \m/
The Pot.
Hi there and happy new year. I'm new to the channel and quite like the honesty you put in your reactions.
If I may, here are a few recommendations that I am sure you never came across except maybe the first:
First and most obvious for their incredible musicianship and style Symphony X (say Revelation (Divus Pennae ex Tragoedia) if you don't mind reacting to non music videos which seem to be the case) You heard the singer in Ayreon (Russel Allen)
Second Trivium song Shogun
Then if you're ok for instrumental music : Paul Wardingham (Convergence) and Angel Vivaldi (Dopamine)
Finally for something out of your comfort zone I believe :
Shokran (Destiny Crucified) It's an egyptian themed metal band from Russia :)
Abiogenesis (Vizualize)
Sorry for the long comment but I really believe there is something of interest in listening to this and maybe continue expanding your musical horizons. All the best
yeaaahhhh here we go!
Indeed we do!

Love your reactions Jim!! Happy New Year!
Do Bottom next! Or Intolerance - both are great and very "angry" tracks from their first album. Great video as always.
I will watch an album, easy. I already listen to these albums several times a year, so what difference does it make if I listen to it while you do?
Enjoying it vicariously
Several times a year? Several times...a day, you mean?
I always laugh when you say "Mallard", keep it up Jim
Lateralus album review, would watch! Best album ever especially when listened to from start to finish laying on the couch with lights off and eyes closed. It's definitely an experience as they say...
Been awhile Jim, life has been busy around here. Thanks for this! I agree with what everyone else is saying, I'd definitely watch an album with ya!
Who wouldn't want to watch you do an entire TOOL album? I would.
Nice Jim excellent song maybe check out The Remedy by his third band Puscifer

"Angels on the sideline again!" Is one of my favorite Tool moments. Their ability to break a song wide open with those special moments is incredible
Watching Simon Pegg react to Tool is my new youtube favorite, but I don't see any Perfect Circle songs yet???
