  • I spent the late morning and early afternoon railfanning Binney Junction. We heard a semi-truck strike the UP bridge just south of the diamonds and the Omaha dispatcher was holding trains waiting for the O.K. from the emergency crews in Marysville. After the incident, a flood of UP trains came through the junction and later a rare BNSF military move from the Sierra Army Depot in Herlong, CA to points south to round out the trip.     Binney Junction is an important junction between the former SP Valley Sub and former WP Sacramento Sub. It may not be as busy as Stockton, CA, but it hosts about one train an hour.
