Today marks 9 years since I broke my neck. After all of this time, I finally had the opportunity to talk to one of the firefighters who helped save my life.

About Cole & Charisma:
Welcome to the official Roll with Cole & Charisma UA-cam channel! Since the start of our relationship we've
gotten a lot of questions about our experiences as not only an interracial couple, but an interabled one as well. On this channel you can catch us doing travel and adventure vlogs, challenges, our inclusion series, couple first times, music, and so much more! We started this vlog to bring people into our lives, to answer some questions about how we navigate the world, and hopefully raise awareness surrounding accessibility and dating in a wheelchair. You'll quickly see in our episodes that we're all about inclusion and keeping a great attitude no matter your circumstances, so if that's what you're into, you're in the right place!
Saying “thank you” during the peak of such a traumatic event speaks VOLUMES to your character Cole. Blessings for our first responders. 👏🏾
Jannet Small-Francis absolutely
Cole your parents did a wonderful job in raising you, God bless you as well as Charisma she's wonderful you both made a great couple 💑
Yeah that had me tearing up, they all have such beautiful souls. 💜
Amazing right 🤗
Yep! You’re a stud Cole
For anyone interested, Cole’s mom, Kelly Sydnor, has a video on her channel of Cole’s friend receiving the Boy Scout’s highest award for rescuing Cole. It’s titled ‘Will Woodward’s Honor Medal Ceremony’.
THANK YOU!
ua-cam.com/video/pbNteGX2a3s/v-deo.html here it is 💜
🥰
Hope the friend that grabbed you right away is still in your life, that had to be traumatic for him too.
Yeap
I was thinking the same thing, like if you could've interviewed him or some of the other people there
He is 🤗
Bring your friend. The one who saved you.we love him already
@@veevictorius5116 I read in another comment that it is still too hard for the friend to talk about it.
Retired from EMS and we don’t often get to see our patients after the trauma events.
When they reach out or visit us we’re ecstatic!
I’m so happy for y’all. Sending you all love and light.
My 23yr old son is an EMT and will start the fire academy next week. We as his parents are very proud of him.
I can’t imagine being an EMS or Firefighter...rescue person. They are true heroes 🥰
My brother is a paramedic and a fire captain who just recently retired. I can’t even tell you what he did for my dad in his final days of his life with regard to caring for him. He such an amazing man and had a wonderful career. It’s funny when I was listening to this paramedic firefighter that saved Cole. He sounded just like my brother. “It’s the greatest job in the world“ “apply everywhere“. I’ve heard my brother say the same things.
I remember that day too. I was home when watching the news and they were talking about a river rescue. I know i stopped and listened and thought " wow, so young. I hope he makes it" Thank God you did!
My now 32 year old son Greg, had brain surgery 28 years ago today. Cole favors my son so much, they could pass for brothers. My son was expected to have some degree of paralysis from the surgery. Due to his mild cerebral palsy. It has'nt stopped my son, from earning his level 4 1st degree Black Belt in Taekwondo. Other than some fine motor deficits, he has done well. Cole doesn't know it, but he is one of my heros. Like my own son, Cole hasn't let physical limitations define him.
My son is also in a interracial relationship. His girlfriend of three years is a Microbiologist and teaches online courses at NYU. It is my prayer that Sharon or as my son calls her Shar, will become my daughter in law one day. She has that something special like Charisma. Those kind of ladies are mighty special gifts from God. 💙
Aww sweet story!
God bless🤍
God bless you mama. That’s an inspirational story. God bless your son too
@Jack Beanstalk Yes, my very hopefully to be future daughter in law is black.
Blessings ❤️🧡💜💚
that friend who helped you out of the water sounds like a great guy. i don’t know if i would be able to think and act that fast seeing something like that happen to my friend.
Life can literally change in a split second. Thank God for first responders. I'm grateful they got to you quickly Cole.
My younger brother is former military certified EMT and now going into nursing. As a physician, I have a strong admiration for the bravery of the first line responders (EMT/paramedics, police, firefighters) because they consciously risk their lives and use critical fast acting skills to save lives.
UA-cam recommended this channel to me and it has been such a blessing. You've come a long way and I believe you are going further still. Lots of love from Kenya
Love from Kenya too
Love from Kenya😊
I think my favorite part of this video was seeing Charisma go back to the spot of your accident and just stand there. Very meaningful.
Thank you to ALL EMS,FIREMEN:women POLICE MEN:women WORLF WIDE!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR SERVICES! Thank you cole for sharing your story, I’m new to your ch! So thank you ❤️🙏🏽🇨🇦 Love&Prayers from Toronto , Canada 🇨🇦
Cole, that was one of the best interviews yet. Having the person that help save your life. Cole, just listening to Sean speak about that day still brings me to tears. Cole, I know you thank God and everyone that help you that day. But, that day God had a plan for you and this is part of the plan to help people to understand what goes on with people who has spinal injuries. Also, You and Charisma did great with Sheltering Arms. GREAT JOB...
What a wonderful feeling & moment to sit down & talk with the person responsible for saving your life! So glad that both of you shared your stories! Thanks for sharing! Happy Tuesday!😎
Saying thank you during such a traumatic time shows what a great guy you are Cole.
Thank you Sean for helping Cole and for helping save lives on the daily.🤩🤩🤩
What is so endearing about Cole is he Never lost hope because the real tragedy would've been hopelessness!
STAY POSITIVE!
My brother was 17 when he became a quad. vehicle rollover. He went camping with dad and cousins. His girlfriend was trying to call but he could reception do he took my dad's keys to drive up the road a ways to call her. He went about 3 miles and hit a mound of dirt left from a road repair company. The SUV rolled 6 times and he flew out on the 4th..the 5 roll crushed him. The first thing he remembered was a young girl over him telling him that help is on the way... it was 1am ..she was on her porch at a cabin talking on he phone when she seen the vehicle fly through trees. She was the first person to him. He said he could see her on a cell phone and he could see his foot next to his face ..he thought it was his shoe.. the roll had folded him up. 😣 the tow truck people stole his wallet and all the CD's...also his watch. He broke his neck, bit off his tongue, severe facial fractures, broken collar and shoulder blades. He lived for another 11 years. He passed away 6-16-2016. We miss him everyday and I just wished he could have had the outcome Cole has. He didn't handle the accident well. 2 data after the accident his girlfriend discovered she was pregnant!!! So I did get a niece from my brother.
So sorry for your loss, I’m sure he is watching over you and is cheering you all on from somewhere much more peaceful n beautiful ! 💖
I am SOO very sorry for your loss. Reading this brought tears to my eyes. Thoughts and prayers to you and your family. And I hope the moments you share with your niece help to fill atleast some of the sadness you've experienced. God bless
Omg!!! I'm SOO sorry! I'm glad you got your niece but I'm PISSED at those guys that took advantage of him like that. They are 👹👹👹 on 🌎!!!
The tow people tho... so mean
Sorry for your loss.
Great video. My accident happened in 2007 when I was 17. I fell off a roof. My way of coping is to laugh and make jokes about it so I get why he does too.
(at 12:07 Charisma crawled along the floor lol)
That must of been scary!! sorry you got hurt but thank God you survive. In spite of your disability you are doing
great things.
So interesting to hear both sides of the story, thank you both for making this video! Although it must be a heavy career, we literally owe our lives to rescue teams, so much respect and love for how strong and selfless people are to help others.
God bless you guys 💜
Wow! I can't believe you're here. You are my favorite vlogger! "Laila tells it aaalllll".
Amen🙏🏼🙏🏼
@@Color-Me-Petty I know riggght?! I was pleasantly surprised as well🙏🏽💫♥️
Amen to that. Such a charming, natural couple 💎🌟
Thank you sir for saving Cole and for all of the other countless lives you affect everyday. You are our heroes!!
Mad respect for all of our first responders! God bless!
Cole saying Thank You to his life saver just shows you what a really nice guy he is. Thank for sharing this.
00
You can see in his face how much tragedy affects him. It’s a hard job
As a paramedic these situations stick with us. You taking the time to say thank you both then and now meant the world. He cared enough to follow you and your story. We survive on the happy endings because it’s easy to get stuck on the not so happy endings.
Thank you for letting us see and hear from one of your rescuers. I would personally like to thank him and his team for all that they do. It is great to hear that he loves his job.
Thank you for all that were involved in in Cole's rescue and recovery.
Can I just say one thing , PLEASE DON’T allow negativity run your lives. Your hubby is handsome and your obviously beautiful . Your story reminded me that love is still out there and it’s alive ! ❤️
Hi from Russia 🇷🇺. Love this channel. Very inspiring to watch because I’m paralyzed waste down from a car accident.
Thank you Sean and the rescue teams that help save so many lives. Thank you for this video❤
That was very good! Thank you to all EMS workers, firefighters, drs., nurses, helicopter drivers, lab workers, boaters and caring friends! ❤️
Cole I love that you invited the fireman to Thank him and have the conversation about the day you were hurt and him and his crew saving your. Also the other Team who gave there shirts, Thank you guys if any of you are watching, what a sincere thing to do.
This is such a tear jerker.
It is so heartfelt to see Cole sitting across form the man who helped save his life.
Just started following. I'm a T-11 paraplegic and have spent last 18yrs in a wheelchair. I'm from Va. And have played Wheelchair Basketball for the Richmond Rimriders.
Anyway I love the vids I can relate to some of what you go through. I have to say and agree positivity and a sense of humor is what keeps me going all these years.
Maybe we'll run into each other sometime when we're out. Take care and stay positive
I agree , I was really concerned, especially with what is happening Covid, earthquake near by take care you guys love you both so much
Have a great day! God bless🤍
"...I am happy with my life now."
Bless you Cole. So very delighted to know that you didn't let your accident and the consequential handicap deter you from living a full life. You and your beautiful lady Charisma are role models for so many. Just watching you two conquer all the obstacles cheerfully and with such gusto is a treat. Your mom, dad and brother Quint are treasures too. How lucky can you get mate?🙏
So great you got to see him again and have a nice chat!! I have so much respect for first responders. My dad was severely injured in a car accident when I was almost 3, (August of 1972, right side ended up being paralyzed) and if not for first responders, he would not have made it. So much love and respect for them!
One of many heroes that day. Thank you! So glad you were there when Cole needed you the most. I pray you’re blessed in your life as Cole is!
Cole your attitude of positivity is infectious. You and Charisma are wonderful examples of how to live your best life. Thank you for sharing all that you do!
Firefighters are my heroes!! ❤ Cole, you're so awesome! Such a fighter!!!!!
Soooo glad you and Charisma found each other. ❤
Thank you to the gentleman there who helped save you.
God bless all firefighters
RVA!!!!!! ❤️❤️❤️❤️ I’m so glad you made it out! My cousin passed in the James River years ago🥺. You are a Rolling Testimony ❤️ I support you’ll!!! Can’t wait to meet you both!
That 1 thumbs down shame, shame shame on you😠😠
🥳CONGRATULATIONS ON 400K SUBSCRIBERS COLE & CHARISMA!🥳 From a fellow quad!♿ Thanks for all the hard work y'all do to raise awareness and everything else you do!
Now that you're in your own place Cole you're going to have to do more things more independently and then show what you can do so you can help show other quads who may feel they can't be independent, and maybe some can learn new or different techniques or even share some to help you! Like if you're having issues doing something maybe someone has a way to help! Know what I mean!? 🤔😆
You were truly blessed with good friends, great responders and even strangers jumping into action that day! This was a great interview.
That is just like Cole's heart to say "Thank You" ❤️
Great interview Cole. I don’t know how you got thru it without any tears in your eyes. I had plenty of them in mine ❤️
Congrats on the 400k guys, so proud to be part of the C&C squad!!! Can't wait to reach a million! Cole, great interview with Sean and Sean, thank you!

What a really cool reunion! Your rescuer has the sweetest eyes.
You put captions in! Thank you I am actually deaf and love your videos but rely on the auto captions which isnt always accurate
Of course! Our latest videos are all captioned 🤗
Cole you are so mature for your age and I love the fact you are using this incredibly unfortunate situation that happened to you to do good.
Charisma, your love for Cole shows in many little ways. Well done for letting today be only about Cole. I did see you crawling though, that was hilarious, it made me laugh even though it was emotional watching the interview😄
You are amazing Cole. The strongest young man on you tube. We love watching you and your fiance. Iv had to heal from inside. Watching always lifts my spirit and heart. I have a brain injury ,i have learned not to cry or feel sorry for myself. Thank you and Charisma for helping me. The courage you have is wonderful.
Shawn thank you so much for what you did for Cole and what you've done for so many injured people. May God bless you and your family always.
Nine years becoming the man you are today and what a great one you are. Lovely interview Cole, good to hear from one of your rescuers. 👏💕
Hi Charisma and Cole 👋🏾👋🏻 How are you both? Wow i'm glad we get to meet the person who helped you Cole😊🙏🏻. Love you both 😃♥️
Why dive into water without knowing if it was safe? This always amazes me that people (mostly young boys who think they are in invincible) do this. It just seems so counter intuitive. Thank God you had an angel in your life that acted fast. And thank God you made it. You are incredible.
The actual friend that took you out of the water, can we please meet him too? he is a hero aswell.
The friend is still too traumatized to discuss the incident. He answered in the comments above
Good job you guys. Cole and Charisma. Thanks to Sean for all he and his team does to help people in trouble .
Hi Cole & Charisma you are such a lovely couple. I did missed your videos when you guys were renovating. What a lovely person that help to saved your life. May God continue to bless you all.

Mister Sean was so nervieus (he had the nervious laugh going) but you both did so well! And the whole interview looked so professionel too (with the outtakes of the news bits and you two at the river etc)!
How awesome that he came and did this interview! And that’s crazy you guys recognized each other at Home Depot 😊
Two inspirational MEN. I am so proud FOR YOU BOTH.
Great interview Cole...and Thank you to all your friends, medics, fire fighters...and all first responders that helped you 👍🥰🙏🏽

Hi guys.
I missed you for a minute. I kept searching for NEW postings and found none.
I'm so glad you're here now.
Thanks for this segment. It's a brilliant move to get the perspective of 1st responders.
Cole , I always knew you were brought up with manners as the gentleman confirmed you thanking him in what was probably your worst moment.
It was strange not hearing or seeing Charisma until she spoke at the end.
Missed you both and soooooo happy to have you back where you belong.
Love you both 💞💞💞🙏🏿
Blessings.
I love y’all so much. So happy I get to watch y’all. Makes me so happy to see you pushing through years later. STAY POSITIVE!!!
