That is me on Bass Tony Saunders........ I was subbing for John. If you listen at some of the licks John Didn't play those type licks.......As a student of John Kahn I know what he played and what he didn't Plus you never heard JGB play this song...
I would also like to remind you That Keystone Revisited Plays the music of Jerry/Merl and just completed a East Coast run. We will be bak in the fall!!!!!! Keystone Revisited is Tony Saunders Bass, Zach Nuggent Guitar, Scott Gubemann vocals & Keys, Danny Eisenbrg Keys, Cotter Ellis Drums and Sunshine Garcia Becker Vocals & flute
thanks for making this treat available I liked what Jerry did with Merle better than what the Grateful Dead did (not that I'm complaining about what the GD did after enjoying 200+ shows of it) there was a very satisfying feeling listening to Garcia+Saunders together that they had no idea where they were going with whatever they were doing at the moment but they were at least as curious as the rest of us to find out where that would be it's great the way this just keeps picking up juice+funk as it ambles along
Hey now this is PURE GARCIA just beautiful playing and so melodic!! Jerry’s clean crisp solos just melt in this jam and his rhythm playing is just in the groove. This is a perfect example of why we all love Jerry Garcia Peace ☮️ from Hawaii Aloha
Wow - unique recording. I used to love listening to Jerry and Merl - fabulous! Good times. Tony did a great job here. Jerry is smilin - Thanks for sharing.
Being a deadhead these days is the shit. Back in the 90s it'd been damn near impossible to get a hold of this, unless you were in the right place with the right deadhead.🎸🌹🎶🌈🌞🌀🎷🥁🌠🌄🥂
Good point. We live in a great time for music. Not mainstream or much music of ‘today’, but for the first age in history we have the widest catalog ever for everything. Great time for music in general.
Thanks God someone was there recording this gem!!! Note: I think this is Bill Kreutzmann or Gaylord Birch on drums, not Humphrey; and Tony Saunders on bass.
Found you on Garcia Archives Check out my record reviews gonna try to do OAITW for Jerry’s 79 birthday today thanks for posting great cut sound solo saw LOM April Easter in Capital theater NJ and then Merl sat in at RFK gratitude brother Dead Head War is certainly not the answer Marvin RIP🌹💀🎸🎹☮️❤️
I think Jerry was having more fun with his own band.. rather than GD.. he was just able to express himself with music he really loved to play, that the Dead just couldn’t get into. I wore out all my keystone vinyl albums… along time ago.. my favorite is” my funny valentine”.. JGB was a great band especially when it featured John Kahn and Bill Vitt… Kahn was a better bass player than Lesh.

whoa! for real?! why did you have to sub for john? was he feeling a bit under the weather? sounds great!!
and honestly, you sound better than john(sorry john!).
@@eyesofworld64 John and Bill Vitt were playing with Brewer and Shipley so they were out of town!!!!
You the man Tony! love it. Much respect.
macfleetwood1 That was martin Fierro on flute.

Enjoying this on so many levels. Thanks

Wonder if Marvin ever commented on this. Jerry really let's his chromatic freak flag fly here. He seems so relaxed with jazz and funk players.

Outstanding Bass Tony!!! This is one of my favorites!!

Whenever I was with Jerry he had me sit with Merl Saunders during the JGB shows ! Then Jerry would go play with the Gratefuldead
Pure Fire!!!

Purely educational and spiritual.

Tasty.. Very Tasty
Legion+ Bill, instead of Tutt. Noice!
I think its Gaylord Birch!
And how did you come to know Jerry? Seems that guy had lots of very talented people to draw from whenever he wanted to NOT be the leader of the Dead.
Yummy 😋😛😜😋😇
It’s more than just a meal!🐔
