He was a tough challenge for the best batsmen of oppositions. Still remember that his absence was on of the key factors of Australia's loss of ASHES in 2005.
Sachin dominated McGrath till 1998 but McGrath dominated Sachin on many occasions after that. But some Sachin haters try to belittle Sachin by trying to hide facts.
McGrath dominated sachin after his tennis elbow injury when Sachin stopped playing attacking cricket and changed his game completely..otherwise if you watch before sachin played shots on mcgarth which was never played by any batsman. He dominated him in 2001 odi series in india and in 1999 test series also he played a great innings. He dominated him in first champions trophy....McGrath got him in 1999 world cup which was a great delivery. Before 2003 you will remember sachin for his innigs rather than McGrath taking his wickets but after that you would see mcgarth dominating bcoz style of sachin got change otherwise he was only batsman who could score faster than shewag when they both use to open together.
@@lohitkumar5065 You are right. Tendulkar didn't get many big scores against Mcgrath outside the subcontinent. Only in Kenya did he hit Mcgrath for 3 sixes. But Tendulkar struggled against Mcgrath in C&U one-day series in Australia. Also, '03 world cup final was a huge game and Tendulkar failed same as '99 world cup and '07 Champions trophy and on all 3 occasions, Mcgrath got him. Tendulkar scored a brilliant 90 in Bombay and 2 Test tons, one at the MCG and another match-winning one in Chennai, and a fifty in Bombay in '04 which India won. So, essentially Mcgrath was on top about 7 out of 10 times. And Tendulkar needed one one-day hundred against Mcgrath in Australia and at least one or two reasonable scores in '99, '03 and '07 games for the battle to be tied at 50:50.
In 90's and early 2000s Tendulkar has consistently been the highest scoring Indian cricketer when touring Australia. He has scored many hundreds in tests and one days against Australia. Who can forget his back to back big scores 100 and 90 in odis finals in Australia to win India's first tournament victory there. Also the desert storm innings and final centuries where also against Australia.

@@akshthsg200 Just look at the record of Cook as an Opener..At one point,he was about to break Sachin's record of most test runs but a dip in form costs him dearly...As far as Viru is concerned,he had the ability to turn the Game aingle handedly in the team's favour..Hayden was destructive but Viru was a Special Talent..

Chasing 281 Pigeon reduced India to 17-4 and finally Indians lost by big margin. For consolations India beat Pakistan in next match but before the third game against NZ, Men in blue already knocked out.That was due that opening burst from Glenn McGrath

u have to ask sachin about McGrath..3 times world cup match winner, won many matches single handedly though played in the team with lot of match winners, so the competition among players in Aussie team were extremely high..not sure why batsmen are always in the limelight and why not bowlers..any neutrel cricket fan knows the fact that he beat sachin left, right and centre most of the times...he is the greatest player of his era not just a greatest bowler alone..

McGrath sledged Sachin and other Indian batsmen several times to gain some upper hand immorally and un sportively. The very appearance of such a bowler irritates the batsman and entices him to play some wrong shots in haste. The great Windies bowlers did not even glare at the batsman while bowling. Though Sachin played well against Glenn previously, the successive losing of his wicket to Glenn during two WCs made him inferior in the vision of some cricket lovers.

Have everybudy forgotten the incident were he taken Sachin's wicket during 2003 world cup final and also at 1999 quater final both the time he was the one who took Sachin's wicket.Sachin always use to play andhadhundi against mc grath.There was an era when Sachin use to have mental block against mc grath .he has got out Sachin in numerous occasions you can't imagine even Damien Fleming was biggest threat for Sachin.
Great ambasador of game and a fine gentleman. The agression on the field is natural for a fast bowler but it was nice to see him so candid off the field. The contest between great fast bowlers like him and greatest batsmen like Sachin, Lara makes this game so mesmerizing. Otherwise it might looked like boring one side game.

@@Godplayzdice The average of Brian lara vs Australia is 51 in test during 58 innings and 9 hundreds...he didn't seems to in struggle..I have found he has perfect batting technique in cricket .if he could play as matches as Sachin then definitely he was number batsman in the world..he has higher score than sachin before his retirement..no doubt sachin was one of the most hard working batsman but technique wise brian lara is the best..

But against real pace he used to struggle. These are Michael Holdings words. Against real frightening pace, Sunil Gavaskar and Garry Sobers had better technique than anyone in history.
@@travelwithnature3697 sachins average and runs were higher than Lara until 2004. It's last 3 years he surpassed Sachin when Sachin struggled with injuries. Once Sachin got past his injuries he was back to his best. His ODI strike rate was much better than Lara.

But don't forget that he had carried them to the final. We didn't have someone like Gambhir or Virat, who could make a partnership when Sachin got out in 2003. Bcz only Sachin had to carry the whole team. Anyhow, 2011, India came through. Sachin didn't do well in final, but don't forget, he's the highest run getter!
