    I went from typing 20wpm to about 103wpm in a matter of 2 to 3 months. So basicly my intial goal was to be just an average typist, around 40wpm but we when I started I was really strugling to keep up, and I have to say that I've stoped sometimes but I got back anyway. I was doing about 20mins per day, sometimes it was more and sometimes it was less, it wasn't really about how much mistakes I make but really just about memorizing the keys and getting as less mistakes as possible. So my advice to anyone trying to be a faster typist, is to just make it a habit and trust me when I say that if you become fast at typing you're going to change various things in your life, because I am a computer science student and we tend to do a lot of typing, so it basically changed my whole life, and you can see that I have wrote a paragraph in a matter of few seconds. So keep up soldiers, you'll get there someday.

    Dang 1 month is incredibly fast improvement for 40 to 120wpm. THought it was strange that he didn't mention how much time he spent practicing each day. Feels like a pretty essential piece of info. I went from about 60wpm to a record 145wpm but that's after about 18 months so improvement is definitely possible. If you have the time I'd set the test time to 10 minutes and just do that once a day, then afterwards try do 1 minute and see how you go. • @Jonas_Chan
      @Jonas_Chan 2 роки тому +7

      @@xwxo Not really. Majority of hkers use cangjie, a character typing method just like typing english with alphabets, or strokes. There're keyboards with cangjie 'alphabets' customized for hkers here. Only a few use phonetic transcription coz our schools don't teach us our mother tongue Cantonese. Many hkers can't even pronounce Cantonese accurately as what the Chinese communist government wants.

However, ever since I made an effort to cover my keyboard, I have increased my accuracy and in turn, my typing speed increased as well. Hi Keo! I just want to thank you for inspiring me to embark on this journey I like to call "learning how to type fast cuz my friends bully me because I average 30 wpm." I started this journey on September 20th of 2020 and as of writing this (November 27th 2020) I have managed to average 100-105 wpm! I am also left handed so learning to use my right hand was a pain in the ass but I have to admit it was worth it! Even though I don't put my right hand fingers on the top row instead of the middle one (basically on u,i,o and p) I have found this position way more comfortable, proving once again that it all boils down to personal preference. P.S I average 100-105 wpm without punctuation. With punctuation I probably get around 70-80 lmao. Anyways thank you for inspiring me to learn typing fast, as it helped me bully my friends who can barely reach 60 lmao

    There was no reason for me to switch from QWERTY TO COLEMAK, as I was typing about 80WPM with QWERTY. But as soon as I switched, which was insanely difficult. Took about 4 months to finally feel completely comfortable, I bumped my typing speed from 80WPM to about 110WPM average. Not only that, but the comfort in typing with colemak with the caps lock as backspace is one reason why I can't ever switch back to QWERTY. It's just so damn comfortable and fun to type on this layout.

    ok, it might sound weird, but hear me out. I only use 5 fingers, but managed to hit 150 in 15 seconds, 130 in 30, and 100 in 60. I still use the wasd finger placement while typing. Reason being is that the letter a, e, w, and other close letters are used a lot more often than we might think. Because of this, I decided to use that finger placement, and the 2 fingers of my right hand for typing on the other side of the keyboard. I've familiarized myself pretty well enough, but my style does take SO much more time as you're basically using half the fingers that a normal typist is using.

    Before getting a custom keyboard, I used to average around 30 wpms but that all changed due to peer pressure from other nerds. I focused on the accuracy of my typing and the speed improved just from that alone. My raw speeds are 75 wpms cuz I need to look down at the keyboard to type correctly but my "real" typing speed is 53 at most.

    If this is real then this is absolutely insane. I have been doing an average of 120 typing tests per day for 6 months and my average is about 120-130 with a personal best of 155. I also started at about 65 words per minute instead of 40 which was what he started it. I just seems really unlikely to me that he got that fast in one month but maybe he's just build different.

      It took me around 1 year to go from 30 wpm to 100. It's different between people. If you are already used to typing but have a speed of 40 wpm it's easier to go from 40-120 wpm unlike other people who don't type very often.

    • @alexmortensen2211
      @alexmortensen2211 2 роки тому +4

      @@maralavellan7863 at first, you will increase your speed very quickly however once you hit around 100 WPM the progression slows down drastically (like 10x) its more of a gradual process then that but you get the point. I go up about 1 WPM every week or so instead of going up like 10+ per week when I started.

    Well, I knew the stuff that there's never really a shortcut to typing faster, but I was curious, and liked the production value and the ease with which you explained the entire thing. Just one question, do you think it makes a difference between switching from a TKL to a 60% keyboard? Both are mechanical and the layout is the same. It's just sometimes I feel like using the TKL and sometimes the 60%. My average speed is around 33-34 with 97-98% accuracy, but I am hoping to at least get it to 70-80 WPM. So, while practicing, should I stick to just one keyboard or can switch between them? Thank you.
