She failed to mention that insurance companies can access your records at any time. Also your primary care provider. If you're a teenager she can tell your parents.
I think there’s been enough documented now that shows therapists all too frequently themselves violate boundaries. Lay persons should organize to develop a code of standards they expect their therapists to observe and what the would have to follow if they fail to do so. This would be disclosed to the therapist by the client just as the therapist is herself disclosing in this video, where the old power imbalance is still evident.
So basically, every reason why you would want to see a counsellor is not confidential. This is why I and many other people refuse to see one of these people.
I think you misunderstand confidentiality Natsuki. Your statement is vague and blanketing and it doesn't apply to everyone. The therapist and client relationship is bound to certain limitations to confidentiality. The client has a right to have his information kept confidential but under certain instances confidentiality can be broken to protect him/herself or the public. Refrain from saying things before doing your research.
What do I do if I heard a therapist talking to their friends and family members about one their clients? Like they gave details about the clients race, how tall they were, what school they attended, and the issues they were seeing the client for? Sexual issues.
The dog at the end lol. :)
Great way to discuss confidentiality.
This was done very well, really helps when reviewing it for class
I'm glad you find it helpful!
My question is if I signed an ROI will my counselor be able to tell my probation officer what we discussed
