  • In January of 2022, Science and Nonduality hosted a dialogue between Thomas Hübl, founder of the Academy of Inner Science, and A. H. Almaas, founder of the Diamond Approach to Self-realization.
In this conversation, Almaas and Hübl look at the notion of integrated spirituality, and how effective spiritual practice needs time and space to be deeply nourishing, healing, and sustainable. Join us to explore what it means to commit to a spiritual path and to live with an awakened heart.
The heart is a crucial aspect of spirituality, and the main work is to liberate it through commitment to a spiritual path and community, leading to inner and collective healing.
00:00 ♦ The heart is a big dimension of the spiritual world, providing a capacity for connection, appreciation, generosity, and goodness, and is the main obstacle in spiritual work and practices, with the major work being to liberate the heart.
14:39 ♦ The heart connects awareness and movement, guides scientific research, and brings mind and body together to live a wise life with values like awareness, stillness, generosity, and goodness.
24:37 ♦ Having a heart is essential for empathy and understanding, especially in a time of polarization, and a committed spiritual path is necessary for realizations and growth throughout life.
33:24 ♦ Commitment to a path and spiritual community can lead to awakening and a mature consciousness of the heart, creating a coherent field of love for inner work and trauma healing, with potential for collective healing through technology and therapy.
48:16 ♦ Open communication and listening with heart is necessary for healing and collective change; technology can create intimacy, trauma healing involves protecting and opening the heart, gratitude for hidden aspects of life, and emotional pain leads to compassion.
57:55 ♦ Developing deeper stability through mindfulness and deep sensing capacities can bridge the gap between personal and universal heart, leading to beautiful relationships and expressing the most universal in the most specific.
01:09:47 ♦ Inner healing and integration can lead to overflowing generosity and societal healing, but spirituality should not be used as a bypass to challenges in the world, and spiritual practice empowers us to face these challenges.
01:18:30 ♦ Sensing and feeling our body leads to recognizing our interiority in the heart, feeling the presence of loved ones can transform our consciousness into a pleasurable and loving state, and the speaker expresses their love for gelato.

We might be careful how we criticize others' approaches to spirituality. Each body has a specific constitutional make up and while there are many that do change, most of us can only try our best and hope to not create too much chaos.
From my side, sampling from many sources on the subject of spirituality has given me a more three dimensional view of what it even means, what love might be, and reasons why they even exist.
This body/mind has more than a few blank or scarred areas, and I have to hear from many voices and styles how to even begin to hear and then interpret what is being transmitted.
Thank God more people than not have allowed me the art of this process, with grace. It not only helped me to feel part-of, but also is giving me, over time, the autonomy and confidence to come full circle and choose my own more simplified path.
Plus, if I didn't partake of the buffet, I'd never have found either of you. 🤗
