Just came across your channel. I lived in Tokyo for 21 years and back in India. This is nostalgic, and I miss Tokyo a lot.
By the way, the gambling machine place which you visited is called Pachinko or Pachislot. They are spread across Japan, and most of them are controlled by Yakuza in the background.
By the way, without trains, Tokyo and Japan in general will collapse. Regarding the esacalators present only for one side, there are clear markers inside stations for up and down travel.
Also you would have noticed very less obese people, and that train commuting is exactly the reason for that. You land up easily covering 10,000 steps a day.

I think the only other city/country where you can find such huge collection / a mall dedicated just for electronic devices is Shenzen in China. I don't think any other country can match or beat this kind of variety and options in display and sale for electronic devices!! It is a wonderland for Tech Geeks and enthusiasts. Think how crowded it will be if such a mall opens in India (any city)!!!
