Idk why it's so hard to write over beats. I rather write the lyrics with a melody in my head and then play chords along side and then make the beat
I agree, often times I love the beat but still can't get a melody going. Its even worse if I try to put a spin on an existing song lol. If I had the skills to play an instrument I'd definitely create songs from absolute scratch. Maybe one day!

when you are coming up with a chorus how do you come up with a flow without following the exact sound of the beat and melody
Practice. That’s all.
Your voice and the words chosen to use will make a melody of its own; while writing, keep in mind that your voice is also an instrument that needs to fit into the sonics as well. You may even need to drop a chord during the chorus to make you fit better into it. Sometimes, less is more is when it comes to a dope beat.

Thanks for this, and shout out to how fast you can write 😂 I write rap and i can write a whole 4 minute lyrical song in 15-30 minutes and my homeboys say the same thing about writing so damn fast. I wanted to start writing r&b songs and getting them to people who can actually sing and was mad confused if i should write the count i want them to hold the note or just let them sing how they want.

Am I the only one that finds it hard to sing to beats and stay in tune cause I always jump from like different pitches and it doesn’t sound right 🤔
I definitely get that! If you want to get a certain beat down you can try memorizing it (maybe start with sections) and practice singing and adjusting your pitch whenever you have a chance. To the point where it's almost second nature and you can sing it randomly that way you're not overthinking the pitch
Putting some light autotune on your mixer also helps to guide your vox

I’ve read that you don’t like this song... well I love music and I have been thinking of getting into it but what I think you need to do because this song is nice fr I think you need to change up your melody In part of the song instead of doing that same melody straight the same through the whole song ... maybe even add like a “singing rap” type of feel to a verse after the second chorus but idk about this stuff so just a recommendation
