I'll never understand why 39s were not more popular than 40-41s. That front end is just too freaking cool. Nice job. It did pain me a bit to see a hole cut in the hood.
Awesome!. I know about rare '39 Willys because I have one. You did a remarkable job taking a heap of scrap and giving it a new life. Great job 👍. I did have to stop the video often just to read the info because it went away too quick. Thanks for sharing your journey with the Willys.
I am the eldest son of the former owner of this car (I’m briefly in the video helping load it up on the trailer). I have followed this project since Eggleston hauled it from my Dad’s place back to Iowa. I am thrilled to see this completed ride, and I’m sure my Dad would have loved this too. Excellent work!
What you did is amazing , what you started with what a transformation, one sweet Willy’s , I like the Willy’s from that time, and this gasser is No. 1 a lot of hard work it paid off great , perfect
I just found your channel today. Luv your work. I've done body work for over fourty years. Never beat out anything like that in my life. Sir you are a magician.
Patience and persistence with vision and skill accomplishes the impossible. A period correct piece from "The Gasser War" days of my youth with today's attention to details... "BRAVO"
You my friend are a craftsman and an optimist and also my hero. That is gorgeous and amazing. Only thing better to me would be turning it into a coupe. Back from the dead. What a job.
What a project! "Ya done GOOD"! Great to see all the perseverence through vicissitudes - you have the right to "feel hard done by" over the rear end failures. Also nice to see fam and friends pitching in - always good to have someone to blame stuff on. If you could leave the on-screen captions up longer, maybe I could finish reading them without rewinding and pausing. I did a lot of that. Thanks for sharing.
Nice to know that REAL talent is alive & well, what a great learning video you produced, as well as THE pickemup ! Thanks for sharing what a really great build by you for us ! Some might see it as a lot of work, but for others, it's nothing but fun/enjoyment as well as relaxing/challenging, as well, thanks for posting, what's next ?
I wish you guys would put up some more of your amazing work for all to see. Russ has an amazing talent and a great heart, glad I get to call him a friend
I just wanted to let you know that you have done a excellent job working on building this into a truck it takes a lot of work and time 👍🔧 I know I’am working on a 72 Chevy montecarlo. Good video you are really a talented person
Kool build .. car was in a sad state at the start but awesome outcome.. hard work but certainly worth the effort. Much respect for your workmanship and greetings from southern Australia 🇦🇺 Forgot to ad.. I spent a bit of time In Iowa in the early 90s Good people and fond memories of my time there.
Is your middle name God ?'cause that sure was a miracle. I've brought back cars and trucks from the dead but you got me with this one. You guys are super...
Beautiful job!Don't let the broken parts discourage you...Get used to it because there will be lots more...We should all have something like that to break parts with!!! Go git 'em....
Quite a Story... Resurrecting something that most people would have overlooked. It Really Turned Out Nice. I want to Build my Own Version starting out with the Shell and Doors of an Old VW BEETLE.
very, very impressive great work. I could not have done nearly that nice of a job. But I'll tell you what, you inspired me to transform a 31 roadster puzzle back into a body . we'll see how it goes, thanks
Inm doing the same with my 40 sedan. Using 41 chevy rear cab metal. Using 46-54 willys Jeep truck bed , which I believe is pretty much the same box as the Willys truck bed. Im using 52 Dodge round rear fenders trimmed up.
Great job and video!! Had a hard time reading the text at times to fast and sometimes over a dark background but was solved by pause clicking, no big deal!
What a creative save, great project and beautiful result. Wow. Gotta Subscribe, Video all meat, no drama. Like to see the power you got out of the 283 and what cam did you use. I understand low bucks but you can still make decent power. Audio of the motor too lost all audio about half way thru. Thanks for posting. Good, fun low bucks project and it doesn't have to remain rusty to be cool. Dennis in Virginia
Thank you! Not sure how much power the 283 has, never dyno'd it to find out. For the cam, it has an edelbrock performer rpm cam kit. Heads are stock double hump. Nothing fancy but runs decent.
If y'all had $1 for every square inch of body you massaged, and re-massaged...you'd be a rich man. As a 40 year auto body tech, I can totally appreciate the hours you put in. Baby should be Gold plated.... Bravo and thanks for posting, Well worth watching. 👍👏
Plasma arc is IMO one of the best investments. Second being the TIG with aluminum capabilities. But frankly you can never have to many tools or workspace. Be frugal not cheap. There is a difference....frugal buys the best quality that can be afforded and takes care of it. Cheap just buys crap that will end up uselessly broken in short order.
Incredible transformation!! You're one talented sumbitch. Cool wife too, can't even get mine to give me the time of day. My little Axel is the twin of your dog. Thanks for saving and creating a slice of history. Q: driveline angle seems a bit extreme???? JT: Orlando, FLA P.S. wish you folks weren't so far away. www.floridadragstripriot.com/

You guys got this car from my family! It was my father's!
The transformation here is craaaaazy!
Keep posting Russ and company! :) Enjoyed visiting at the Heartland Nationals and seeing that incredible 57 Dodge truck

What a great job !!! I built and raced a 39 Willy's pickup in the mid 60's called the Hairy Canary , now owned by Dave Love .
Thank you! The Hairy Canary is definitely a household name in our household!! Very cool, and a piece of history, really appreciate your comment!
Only real car guys know what you have accomplished...🛠 GREAT JOB!!!
Thanks for posting
aint that the truth, blood, sweat & tears, maybe beers too
This was worthy of a series.
I could have watched hours of this build.
Great job!!!

Amazing amount of work, amazing results, unmeasurable satisfaction and true hot rodding! 👍

and they said it COULDNT BE DONE..........I am totally impressed. Awesome skills!
I can tell that alot of love motivation and family perseverance made this build of love together and built this gasser together
Talk about hard work!!! There is nothing as beautiful as an old Willys.

Nice job, especially with the family involved
Incredible job!! Well done. I recently picked up a '40 Willys coupe that has a '39 front clip on it.
I wish you guys would put up some more of your amazing work for all to see. Russ has an amazing talent and a great heart, glad I get to call him a friend
Amazing build!!!
Looks killer 👍👍
I'm in eastern Iowa, maybe I can catch it at a car show sometime, love to see it in person.
Been there with a 34 chevy... Saved another life !!! & made a badass ride....Pride at work.
An amazing effort! THAT was a build!!!

Great story and the truck looks just right and built old school way ,Cheap. I know you are having fun by all the broken pieces
Is your middle name God ?'cause that sure was a miracle. I've brought back cars and trucks from the dead but you got me with this one. You guys are super...
Haha, thank you! Positive comments like yours are what keeps a guy going. Very much appreciated.
Those headlights. That shark nose hood. Wow!
Beautiful job!Don't let the broken parts discourage you...Get used to it because there will be lots more...We should all have something like that to break parts with!!! Go git 'em....
Very enjoyable video - paralleled my 40 Ford Deluxe pick-up build very closely except for the gasser part - very nice work
Quite a Story... Resurrecting something that most people would have overlooked. It Really Turned Out Nice. I want to Build my Own Version starting out with the Shell and Doors of an Old VW BEETLE.
Beautifull truck nothing is cooler than a willys gasser
Great job. Wish you had given more time to read the captions. Looking forward to more builds.
You vision is admirable and your skills unparalleled. What great job! Very, very sharp.
You all did a fantastic job there, respect. I`d love one of those Willys, not a pick-up, but they aren`t very common here in the UK.
one hell of a project car/truck thought this was a goner ,you did a great job here
Great job! Turned out spectacular!
tons of work. Im impressed
Good lord that was a ton of work. Amazing results.
"The little truck that COULD." BRAVO, Maestro ! Simply BRILLIANT !!
very, very impressive great work. I could not have done nearly that nice of a job. But I'll tell you what, you inspired me to transform a 31 roadster puzzle back into a body . we'll see how it goes, thanks
Took a river found car and did this with it. Great work. Where there's a will there's a way.
Great looking car..lots of work. turned out to be 1 awsome truck
Amazing! That's more resurrection than restoration.
I've watched this video at least 3x. Love it and great job!
Just found your channel, you did an amazing job 👍 absolutely my favorite kind of video! Best to you and yours
Great job on that cab !
Awesome job you guys truly can perform magic
Great vid! Enjoyed every frame of it.

Amazing job built not bought hell yes!!!
Incredible. If you folks weren't metal masters before, you are now!
Some damn good fabrication skills right there
If you hadn't told me that started life as a 4 Dr sedan, I'd have never known it.
Great job and video!! Had a hard time reading the text at times to fast and sometimes over a dark background but was solved by pause clicking, no big deal!
Apologies for the frames moving too fast, first UA-cam video, have a lot to learn yet haha

Damn, You do nice work!
Fantastic build!
Awesome work!
Love the build
Good to watch, but captions were up for way too short. Not all of us are grads of the evelyn wood’s speed reading school.
Sorry, first time making a UA-cam video and am still in the learning process.
You brought that car, BACK FROM THE DEAD!
You do nice work. Congratulations hope you can keep her but if you can't you should get a good price for her.
Nice Build.
Great job saving another classic.
What effin amazing undertaking/results, would like to know the color used on the engine👍🇺🇸

Awesome man good save
There was Gasser Sedan and also Kaiser sedan in 1950? Who would be the owner? Perhaps Les Paul & Mary Ford?
Great job man!
A labor of love
Guys now won't fix a car if the rockers are rusted.

Thank you, Worked on it on and off for a total of about 4 months
@@egglestonkustoms8204 i thought it would have been a lot longer than that. very nice . i love willys
minty! nice job!
What size rear wheels and tires are you using
The slicks are 12.00-15 and the wheels are 15x10
Like it but it's a little out of proportion the front end looks real long and back stubby but still cool
Incredible transformation!! You're one talented sumbitch. Cool wife too, can't even get mine to give me the time of day.
My little Axel is the twin of your dog. Thanks for saving and creating a slice of history.
