    Another fine video from you Sue. You made an otherwise daunting task quick simple and straightforward. I should have watched your video before I mangled my hands trying to get in the speaker hole to change the brake light. I would have had it apart and back together in less time than it took me to draw blood and my frustrations. Thank You Sue.

    Again, why take half the car apart, you could just remove the speaker?

      Because you can’t get your hands in there to twist the bulb in place...I tried and failed...you almost have to zen out and close your eyes and use “the Force” if you will to get the bulb in....taking off the panels isn’t too bad and really helps out with access...

      @@DJTallDarkHandsome My hands are large. No problem... Stupid to take all that plastic off. It will just break on an old car.

    I can't believe your socket set came with a #10. I don't think I've ever seen one. All of mine go from 9 directly to 12, 13, 14, etc.

    What exactly is the correct "North American" bulb if not 1156 for the parking lamp?

    Pro tip: Don't do it like this! Just remove the speaker. Its a 15 second job that way

      @@1AAuto Yeah, The easy way and many hard ways. The method you describe will end up breaking things more readily. Pop the speaker grill off and you are off to the races.

    Way, way overcomplicated for a simple 10 second job with no tools needed (like most of these guy’s videos) 🙄. Just pry off the speaker grill, pull out the little red tab to pull off the speaker itself, and the upper bulb sockets are right there! Twist and pull the socket and replace the bulb! SO SIMPLE! Why take half the car apart??!
    PS: for the lower bulb, just pull off the the little carpet panel in the corner and the bulb socket is right there! Again, done in seconds with no tools!!
    This is absolutely ridiculous!!

    What happens if you break the socket harness inside the tail light and the bulb won’t snap in place anymore?

    Hi
    I am quite sure that the bulp’s you had your fingers on where turn and brake bulp’s and not the rear signal bulp’s.

    • @jspaulding4106
      @jspaulding4106 Рік тому

      The orange one (top one) is definitely a turn signal, and the next one is definitely a brake bulb, at least in an '05

    A useful video but I don't see why she suggests a lower power bulb will burn out quicker.

    • @1AAuto
      @1AAuto  4 роки тому

      +Peter Rollings Thanks for checking us out. This was meant to inform that the wattage should be replaced the same and with assistance with that to go to a part store to ensure what you get is the same to prevent anything from happening to the bulb prematurely. If you put a higher or lower wattage bulb it may cause damage to the bulb or the wiring as they are meant to have a specific currently in them.

    • @peterrollings1240

      @@1AAuto Thanks for the response but I don't agree. Higher or lower power bulbs just make the light fitting brighter or dimmer. There is no chance of damage to the wiring as it is fuse protected. Any 12V bulb will run to it's design lifetime if run from 12V (nominal, as in a car it does vary somewhat). The only danger is to the fitting itself if a MUCH higher power bulb is fitted, exactly like in household light fittings, but the range for automotive use is very limited with 21W being about the highest rated bulb for side/brake lights, and this power bulb is not going to melt plastic and cause a fire even if it's wrong for the fitting. It's certainly true that you need to take the failed bulb to the auto parts store to get the correct replacement, if only for the fact that the retaining pin configuration comes in several varieties, and you need to match the one used in your car as well as the bulb wattage, or else it won't fit (don't ask how I know this :-) ).

    This is the 2nd greatest reason why not to buy a Volvo......Never...and I have this same model.....Never buy one again!!!!

      Hmmm - I did the 'just remove speaker' trick and it was tricky but worked (five minutes) . I like my Volvo v70 and would buy again but yes there is a lot of patience and steps required to work on these. I don't know how it compares to other cars but I'm guessing Volvo assumes owners have the money to pay for all the extra steps so they win by over-complicating things and getting the car into the shop. Just the way it is now.
