Partial seams!!!! I was so afraid of them when I started quilting because I didn't really "get" them but they aren't hard or mysterious at all :). Are there any other techniques you want to see in a block study? curves?? Improv? what else? :)
@@BrendaH289 My daughter has asked for a wedding ring quilt for her big day next year and I keep trying to talk her out of it - because I think curves are difficult too!
You always prove that you can try even complicated block by just working through the process with patience. Great job. I like all the sizes, but I really loved the bold large block.
Such a beautiful quilt block. Yes, it is a vintage block, but you made it fresh and modern with your color choices! So pretty!! Thank you for sharing this video and the free pattern!
What a well demonstrated tutorial, thank you. I have done partial seams on squares but never seen this block before and I’ve been quilting for over 19 years now.
Love this one, Megan. I plan to try the largest size (4 of that size would make a terrific baby quilt). A giant version of this block would make a beautiful single block quilt.
You really are an amazing teacher. I have done partial seams for years, but it's always challenging to explain them so a new person loses the fear of them. You do a wonderful job!
Awesome 😎 block I’m going to make it block. I need to practice on my half scenes they’re no one favorite Lol 😝. God bless you and your family thank again
I did partial seams with a pattern before anyone told me they were "scary" so now I think they are a secret weapon 😉 I love love love how modern this block looks! Can you explain the fat quarters again. 3 fat quarters will make 3 of the largest blocks? Thanks for a great tutorial.
Yes! You can cut all the fabric for the block from one fat quarter but then it would all be just the one print plus background. I’d cut a bunch and then shuffle the colors :) That was me about so much of quilting. I didn’t know fmq and other things were “scary” so just jumped in! 😂
thanks for such an interesting block. I adore partial seams, my family has seen many quilts in the past 3 or so years done with this technique. I'm making an enlarged version to show for my challenge project. It will be a 32" table topper. I am soooo glad I found this tonight. TY for all you do. Well, I finished my block today, it is the 17" finished (FQ) since 1 of the challenge fabric is a bright hot pink to bright teal with bold silver swirls, it may not work well for a table, it's now a pillow for a very special grand. I'll be doing the math soon for the table topper. the 3 FQs make a 51" x 17" runner, sweet size. ty again
Love the block studies and this is another great one! This block is rather challenging. I recently finished a project that used partial seams. I'm not intimidated by them, but I find that it's really necessary to pay attention! The thing that scares me is "Y" seams, so I avoid them.
Lol-definitely pay attention! I assembled the smaller block wrong because I was chatting away with someone. I did that final press and realized my mistake! 😂
Genius. So clearly explained I am inspired to have a go. Can you also work your explanation makes easy magic on Y-seams so we could use them for Tumbling Blocks, Attic Windows, Lemoyne Star blocks etc?
I love this particular subject! Will this bring us closer to Editas stars? I would appreciate the progression with your great techniques and teaching style. Saw you at Angela Walter group!! Thanks
I use a martelli brand rotary cutter when I’m cutting a lot of fabric-it’s great because it puts less stress on my wrist. It takes a little getting used to but then it’s awesome! I got mine on Amazon :)
Also thank you for this video. Partial seams are hard for me to wrap my head around but I think trying the largest block might be an easier way to go. ❤️
I don’t usually do full finished quilts for these block videos. I’d love to but I’m just one person to design, film, edit, sew and everything :) I guess I could add a digital mock-up at least! I’ll add something like that for the next block video ❤️
I just spent the morning making this block , my first partial seam!! I'm wondering if I did something wrong? the top right corner... when I attach the 3x6 rec and the 3" square... the rectangles were too long by maybe 1/2" is that right? Needless to say I assumed they should be trimmed off. My block ended up the correct size though.
Ack!! You are right. I caught that and corrected it when I was making the block but then never exported the finished version of the pdf. So sorry!! It should be 3x5 1/2” rectangles from the background. Im updating the download right now.

Mitered corners.
I'd love to see improv for sure.
Curves, I want to make a Wedding Ring but curves are difficult
Mitered corners, curves

And just like that, A BEAUTIFUL BLOCK! Love it. Thanks
Sew Pretty! And you made it sooo doable! Thanks Megan. Great teaching as usual.

Wow, you made a complicated block seem so easy! I would never have guessed how to make this block with partial seams. Thank you!
Great tutorial Megan! I'm much more confident about attempting partial seams after watching it 😊
Great video describing partial seams. Love the block!

Very cool and good, easy explanation and how to handle partial seams!

Great tutorial! I have done square partial seams, but never triangles like this 😮

Thanks, Teresa!! ❤️ that means so much! I thought this block was just too great to pass up and I’m glad I tackled the topic :)

Wow, Thanks so much for this - I always dismiss them as too hard. I feel like I could try it now :0)
Excellent job 😊 I don’t know that I would want to make a whole quilt with them but I definitely will use one I’m my sampler♥️
I totally understand that! I found this block to be fun but not exactly fast!
Excellent tutorial
love this block (& partial seams in general.)
They seemed so confusing the first time I tried but they are so useful! I’m glad you liked it :)
A brilliant lesson, thank you.
This is another wonderful tutorial you have provided to us.. Thank you, this looks like fun so I'm going to try.
Thank you you were very helpful Loura
That is neat. I've never seen that demonstrated before
I’m so glad you liked it! ❤️
Great tutorial. I love your channel!

Exelente tutorial 👍 y muy bien explicado, gracias por compartir sus conocimientos 🤗
Well done.
Very good tutorial, Megan! That was some perfect piecing.
Wow! always wondered how this was done by machine.

I looooove y seams!! I’ll definitely add that to a video soon :)

She’s great-I popped into one of her livestreams the other day!

Unusual rotary cutter…where to buy? Great video…

Is that a Juki machine? If so what is the seam guide you are using. I would like one like that.
what kind of rotary cutter is that?
Also thank you for this video. Partial seams are hard for me to wrap my head around but I think trying the largest block might be an easier way to go. ❤️
Wish there was a sample of what the quilt would be?

@@TinyOrchardQuilts No worries :) I just wanted to make sure I was doing it right. Thank you for the quick response and great tutorial!
Thank you!! ❤️ I’m so glad you liked it :) and I’m glad my instructions were 1/2” too big instead of too small :) you can always trim! 😂

@@TinyOrchardQuilts I'm totally blaming you! hahaha I'm hooked on this block , getting all my FQ's ready for tomorrow.
