I think something went wrong. The light yellow was sewn wrong. It should have been sewn to the top not the bottom. If you do your quilt this way it’s going to be all messed up. I would hat for someone who buys the kit to make it this way. They will be so disappointed when 1/2 of their quilt is wrong. But I sure do love the fabric for this very lovely kaleidoscope quilt.
Hi Claudia - Yes, the 2 rows of yellow do appear to be sewn "upside down/wrong" because Jen was demonstrating how to sew the rows together. The 2 rows of yellow will be connected with other yellow triangles, to make 3 whole kaleidoscope blocks, if this makes sense. -Michelle
If you cut the strips from left to right instead of right to left, only the first cut would be" left-handed". The rest would be right-handed cuts. Gorgeous quilt! This is now at the top of my list of projects!
I just received my 2 kits and am so beyond happy. These fabrics are so beautiful. I cannot wait to get started. I have one thing I am doing now and it should be done by this week-end. Everything came wrapped up and the box was not even bent this time. I thank you, Shabby Fabrics , for giving us instructions and videos to do these projects that are so very beautiful.
Too beautiful to pass up. I just ordered my kit. I’ve always wanted to do one of these and you tutorial is so easy to understand, I feel confident that I will be able to do it.
I received my kit and had to start it right away. 😊. Today I ironed the fabric, cut, marked, and pinned it. I have always wanted to do a kaleidoscope quilt but was intimidated. Your instructions made it so easy. However, I did have to figure out about the pinning. Where to start, how far apart…A couple of starts and stops and 3 bandaids later, I figured it out. What worked best for me was starting in the middle working on the short side and working my way down, then doing the other half the same way. Seemed less cumbersome to me that way. Next will be cutting the strips and triangles. Thank you for such good explanations and guidance. Love your videos.
Happy that our tutorial helped you with this project and that you also found what worked best for you! Keep it up! It will look fantastic! Thank you for your comment!😊 - Abby
Thank you for the hard work you and your team put in to this, but I can’t help thinking about what a cool - and easy! - color wash English paper piecing hexagon quilt this fabric would make.
This fabric is gorgeous! When I'm lining up kaleidoscope fabrics I don't rock the pin to hold all the layers. I feel that shifts the fabrics slightly. I hold the "line up" pin straight up and down through all the layers and insert a second pin to hold the layers together & remove the "line up" pin.
Would it be advisable to cut the triangle tips for blocks where the center of the hexagon is with the pointy ends of the triangles? Similar to what you did for the half hexagons before sewing together to avoid the offset?
Hi amyclark3072 - We don't seem to quite understand your first question. Could you perhaps send us a photo on FB Messenger, or support@shabbyfabrics.com so that we can better help you with this? -Michelle
Hi Kris - Yes, the 2 rows of yellow do appear to be sewn "upside down" because Jen was demonstrating how to sew the rows together. The 2 rows of yellow will be connected with other yellow triangles, if that makes sense. -Michelle
We're happy you enjoy it! Keep in mind that your triangles will be 60 degree repeats - that's why Jen loves using the Marti Michel "magic mirrors" to give you an idea of what your kaleidoscope block will look like. Hope this makes sense :) -Michelle

Hi Jen
For a beginner quilter what would you suggest would be the best quilting machine to purchase? Thank you for your time appreciate it.
Glad this inspires you! You should stop by your local quilt shop and they should be able to guide you with that decision. - Abby
I love my Juki 2010Q. Strong, beautiful consistent stitches and around 1000 dollars

The lemon half hexies are upsides down I think.

How many yards of fabric are in the quilt kit?
There is approximately 4 yards of fabric in the quilt kit.😊 - Abby
Can’t you cut the notch on the stack of triangles before you separate them?
Can you please tell us what time stamp in the video are you referring to? - Abby
@@ShabbyFabrics 24.31 as you are cutting the triangles spin the template to cut all the tips off at once.
I still don't understand where to start to cut for the design of choice. Help ?
