Remember, Teal'c comes from a culture which has telecommunications technology, however it was limited to either military use or use by the Goa'uld. So the concept that such technology could be used by ordinary civilians for purposes of mere entertainment must have blown his freedom fightin' mind when he first came to Earth and saw their television and film. It explains why he's so enamored with Earth cinema, since he's apparently seen Star Wars nine times (probably more by this point in the show).
I laughed my ass off during that episode. Especially the part where the two sisters who are hostages start having a fight and Daniel tells them off... or at least tries to, "This is a life or death situation here!"
That rant, and the exasperated "of course we were" Daniel utters when the aliens accuse Vala of being followed after hijacking the prometheus are my favorite Daniel lines.
Little exchanges like this are why I've never been part of that group of SG-1 fans that felt somehow "betrayed" when some of the cast changed. I love Mitchell's off-the-wall comments.
I didn't mind the new cast, but i simply felt that, Cam for example, was unnecessary. at least as the new "leader" of the group. I always wondered why Sam didn't just take over. she had the necessary rank, and was way more experienced than Mitchell. Vala, i kinda liked her, but i did not like her as Daniels new love interest. Mainly because i was more a Sam/Daniel shipper
because as explained after oneil left sg-1 essentially disbanded until cam came along he became the new leader of sg-1 tasked with building a "NEW" team which he didn't want he wanted sg-1 with sam tealc and jackson he got them eventually after oneill left jackson started doing research on the ancient database and ancients in general sam went to area 51 and tealc went back to the jaffa high council this was all explained in the movies sg-1 had essentially ended.
The thing is, that Die Hard originally wasn't about the one man saving the planet. It was about the guy being thrown into a bad situation and just trying to survive and saving his wife. That's why Die Hard 1 and 2 worked pretty well. It was easily possible to identify with the main character. He's no hero. He's just a guy. And I would really recomend to watch at least Die Hard 1.
The Fifth Element was basically Die Hard in Space. Also in Star Gate Contintum Daniel established that he wasn’t for watching tv his head was always in books. Technically there was a book version of Die Hard but it wasn’t called Die Hard. It was Nothing Lasts Forever by Roderick Thorp Chances are Cam didn’t know that.

I kinda saw Mitchel as the guy who should've been in SG1, but not *leading* SG1. . It just felt so out of place for an outsider to come in and be in charge of people who are all more qualified through experience to run the team. How the team "got back together minus Jack" felt a bit forced too. . That aside, honestly, they might as well have brought Jonas back while they were at it, because the team was really missing something without that early seasons Daniel vibe Jonas brought to the table a lot of the time.

Yes, in the Die Hard movies, the main character, John McClane, often ends up in situations simular to the security guard's situation in the clip (trapped inside a building with bad people who's taken hostages etc.), so that's where the reference comes from. You should take the time to watch the movies, they're great! :)
This was one of the better episodes in the later seasons! It got back to SG-1 having to deal with first contact problems instead of a long DragonBall Z-sized arc against a Big Bad.

The story for this episode was written by Ben Browder and Martin Gero. I enjoyed and watched both Farscape and SG-1 before and after Ben and Claudia joined Stargate. Ben played a more interesting character as John; I kept waiting to see the same as Cam, but the role as an Air Force pilot required him to be more restrained. I hear music when Claudia speaks. Vala was far less serious than Aeryn; provided more comic relief.

Nah, they came in at the beginning of Season 8 or 9. Although in the Episode "200", Season 10 episode 6, Vala makes a Farscape reference using SG-1 characters. It is one of the episodes involving Martin.
I think he's referring to the fact that the second man (researcher in the episode i believe) isnt holding the trigger... but then again there is clear reasoning for that, explained in the episode
That's actually Mitchell's gun he's holding, so that gun came from Earth. Just before what you see in this clip, J.M. sneaks up behind the three of them, aiming his 4-barreled gun at Mitchell and Vala, and demands they put all their weapons on the ground. He doesn't know that Cicero is working with them, so he demands that Cicero pick up all their weapons and hold them at gunpoint with their own guns while he searches the rest of the building. After he runs off, Cicero gives their guns back.

Over time, Daniel picked up Jack's mannerisms but still goes into detail about the various historical references necessary for their missions.

Nah, they came in at the beginning of Season 8 or 9. Although in the Episode "200", Season 10 episode 6, Vala makes a Farscape reference using SG-1 characters. It is one of the episodes involving Martin.

That's actually Mitchell's gun he's holding, so that gun came from Earth. Just before what you see in this clip, J.M. sneaks up behind the three of them, aiming his 4-barreled gun at Mitchell and Vala, and demands they put all their weapons on the ground. He doesn't know that Cicero is working with them, so he demands that Cicero pick up all their weapons and hold them at gunpoint with their own guns while he searches the rest of the building. After he runs off, Cicero gives their guns back.
