Dr Rosen, Thank you so much for the info. My surgery was on Aug 30, 2022. It’s now Feb 15 2023. I also had manipulation under anesthesia. PHYSICAL THERAPY continued thru early Jan 2023. The best my knee has bent was 102 during PT. I am in the mid 90’ s now. And work on my recumbent bike 20 min per day or about 2.7 miles. I will talk to my surgeon about this video. Again thank you.
I'm out two years due to covid but scheduled to get this done in June but will probably delay as I have grandsons coming to visit and not gonna miss it. I'll probably get done later in year. Please post how you make out
Welp this was good to hear. I'm over a year on my right (2-24-22) and soon a year on left knee (7-20-22). My left bend better than right. Im sure ill have to have this for both knees. Wish i had moved on my right knee move after initial replacement. However, i still consider both a succrss because i don't have any of the pain I use to have.
Dr Rosen, my surgery was 4 years ago, all went well to include PT however,, completing my therapy, my knee is almost totally locked, the best I can achieve is 113, range of motion was always excellent., 57 yrs old and I have to hold on to something and bend in to put on pants - question is, I do not see anything about years after surgery with ROM getting worse and why
This is a good report. Can you address popping in the new knee? I am three months out but around six weeks out I developed a popping in my knee. As I took steps while walking as my foot extends forward there are two pops. I can sit and swing my leg into extension and hold my fingers against the side of my knee at the lower knee cap area and I feel the pops. These pops travel up my leg to my lower back area and it’s very disconcerting. No pain just the feeling of popping. My surgeon thinks feeling it in my back is ridiculous and that when my other knee is done things will even out. I’m concerned that he is not concerned and wonder I’d I should request an arthroscopy of my popping knee when my other knee is being done in surgery. I do not have hip joint problems……I can straighten my leg and swing it thru different arcs with no popping. Lastly, I am active. I pedal six miles a day on my peddler and I continue flexion and extension exercises with extension exercises in the morning and flexion in the afternoon. I would appreciate your thoughts on this. Should I request an arthroscopic inspection during my upcoming knee surgery?
Ouch. Best to avoid stiffness in the first place. But good to know there are additional fixes. I’m scheduled May 25 for my right knock-kneed knee replacement. Diligence in bend/straighten from the start is my plan.
Thanks Dr Rosen for making this information available - much appreciated.
You are very welcome

I'm 9 months post op and have a lot of tightness and pain. Haven't had MUA but I think I'll see my surgeon after watching this.
Cheers
Me too will definitely see my surgeon
Thanks for your video. It has given me some questions to ask my orthopaedic surgeon when I see him next week.
Glad it was helpful!

yes, best to avoid stiffness. Your plan to start with early range of motion is great and work closely with your therapist. Best of luck.
