- Follow up video on the solo section :
• Practice: Midnight Ren...
Just got a new practice amp after months of practicing with a bass amp. I tried covering this song with my jazzmaster, but I couldn't get the sustain for the tapped notes. In the end I gave up and switched to a tele. I also tuned slightly up, following the recording.
Anyway, I'm pretty happy I could finally pretty much play this song. But then I also just heard Freak Jack by Casiopea yesterday and my mind is blasted again.
Props for being the only cover on youtube to actually learn the solo from the studio version, everyone seems to like to learn the Mint Jams version, which is hella cool n all but, the tapping and the arpeggio runs on the studio version are j so fucking cool man
Thanks! Yeah I super dig the studio version. Kind of wish I had recorded w a better set up as the audio didn't come out as clear as I wanted.
The studio version solo is so much my brain at all times (neurotic, chaotic and kinda fun too, lol)
I totally agree with this. The studio version is so much cooler in my opinion and I’m trying to learn this version all on bass just for funsies
God the sweeping sections in the solo are killing me. I’ve never attempted to learn a solo like this before and I really wanna nail it but damn it’s just so hard. Oh well press onward I suppose!
Hey WOOF WOOF, I've added a follow-up video with a slowed-down version of the solo, hope this helps!

Did you get it?
found myself doing the "not bad" face after the solo.
I'm kinda obsessed with this song, and your rendition is simply outstanding. i will eventually record myself playing it someday. thank you!
I call it stank face when the playing stanks
One of the best covers on this site
So funkily enough when I was debating getting a telecaster three weeks ago I saw this video and was set on it. You’re now my goal
Mate... Get a Tele. Don't listen to anything anyone says about limitations regarding thickness of sound or whatever (a bit of compression fixes that immediately). There is no tone like a Telecaster's neck pickup. Also (and anecdotal, like, so grain of salt and all that) I've owned a LOT of guitars. Nothing has ever played as fluidly as the Tele I bought way the fuck back in 2004(ish). Was my third electric after an Aria Strat copy and some nameless thing that looked like a lightning bolt (my first, when I was 12). I've owned probably twenty electrics since then and the Tele is the only one I WILL NEVER SELL. Choose the right amp, but be a Tele man. You won't regret it.
^I'll add to this: don't get a Squier or a Mexican Fender. Wait and save and get an American Standard Tele, preferably from either the mid-90s or before. I'm serious, you'll never spend better money in your life.
Issei Noro will proud to see your cover! 👍🏼👍🏼🔥🔥
was playing the bass of this track with you man you are really good keep killing it
Absolutely based Tele practitioner. Instant sub.
I usually never post a comment on yt but amazing cover, congrats
Loved the sweeping sections of the solo but they look so damn hard lol, might try to play it but will never master it as you do!
Thank you! It's cliche, but any difficult section is really playable if you just learn it slow and incrementally speed it up; that's how I nailed this section!
Hey there all! I've added a follow-up video with a slowed-down version of the solo. I didn't transcribe it, so you can use this video to learn the solo:

You nailed it!
Perfect execution!
Amazing!
This is a long shot but have you transcribed and kept the notation for the solo by any chance I'm finding it a big challenge by ear for me
damn this cover is so good that you might as well be the one playing in the original album !!!!
so cool
It's too good godammit.
very cool
thanks!!
thats me right there guys
ライブのソロもカッコいいよね
finally, the studio version gets covered
absurdly underrated cover! good shit :)
Awesome tone!
Bro, that's a sick cover! how did you get that tone?
The magic of telecaster
I usually do gain on 6-7, guitar volume on like 4, neck pickup, and just a bit of reverb. Issei uses a Yamaha G100 2x12 which is basically japans fender reverb
dude any chance you could make a lesson video? Also, your tone is spectacular!
An AMAZING cover of this song dude, Great Job!!!!
Esa digitacion me ha dejado asintiendo con la cabeza
Many thanks 🙏🏾🤘
Amazing, loved ever second
Too cool mate
I love Freak Jack too
killerplaying dude !!!!!
Top 👍👍👍
groovy❗️
I was ok until the solo I legit need o improve that but idk what to practice I mean technique please halp
first, don't panic. I would slow down the track, and learn the notes. Break it up into sections and practice. It's always better to play accurately and in time than just rush through!
I think it was Bill Evans who once said that the problem with learning difficult material is that instead of trying to understand something in a true and simple way, we tend to approximate the entire thing, and we fail in that way. Good luck! You can do it!
Hey Ian, I've added a follow-up video with a slowed-down version of the solo, hope this helps!

Great man, where did you found the backing track?
It's just the full track
He's playing over the original. There are backing tracks out there though
damn i love your tone, is your guitar just directly plugged into your amp?
Don’t worry it’s just the name of the series!
Imagine this guy at 60 yo
Hey chief, got the tabs?
sorry dudes, I only figured out by ear.
Hey Onion Succ, I've added a follow-up video with a slowed-down version of the solo, hope this helps!

Brain tabs
Shittyjazz, more like badassjazz
Am i really gonna spend a couple weeks writing the tab out for this ? Yes probably
I wish I were good at transcription but I'm terrible - also check out that follow up vid I did explaining the solo, I think it will help with your tabbing adventure!
@@shittyjazz Why thank ya!! i wish i had your talent(?) idk if thats the right word but ye
Fuckin nailed it
How can i sound similar
0:23
Awesome bro, congratulations.!!
Can you share the backing track please ? Cheers from Mexico
Do you have the tabs for this by chance? I can’t find the studio version anywhere and i’m god awful at transcribing
2:55
HARIBO
I was wondering if the recording was tuned up or not I have been trying to figure this song out and it's damn hard when you're tuned too low thank you for confirming. How far up eh?
Yeah some of those old recordings tend to be tuned up slightly I've found, I use that first note he plays (a big ol E note) as a reference, but you'll have to tune the other 5 strings manually
@@shittyjazz 10-4 brother thank you for that. Really is about the only way to do it.
what mode and key is this in?
e
How did you do the slidey sound effect thing at 0:58?
btw - did you make the backing track ?? cus that would be cool
Can I know where ytou find the tab or sheet for this?
by any chance do you have tabs or the chords ?
not shitty jazz
definitely not shitty
Play Casiopea, read Uzumaki.
Same old shit !
