    My father's FAVORITE!! This Nonna is adorable, she steals the show, Rossella. I love the way she doesn't want to waste a drop! And the way she says, "Yeah, sure."

    Anise is the smell of Easter to me. We also make anise seed cookies. My family is from Cosenza in Calbria.

      @@cookingwithnonna Hi Rossella, Merry Christmas to you and your Nonna. I have a question, which I do hope that you see. Instead of the anise extract, I have the ground powder. Can I use that and how much would I need? TY
      EDIT: You and your Nonna are so sweet together. I know this vid. is a few years old and I hope your Nonna is still with us. If not, I know she is baking with the angels. You are or were very fortunate to have your Nonna for the time you had together. I lost my Bushia and my mom when I was very young. This is a very bittersweet vid. for me to watch. God bless.

    I love watching you and Nonna. I"m smiling the entire time that I'm watching the video.This is the way we all wish it could be with our Nonnas. Rosella, I agree with you regarding the anise extract,
    it's very harsh. I want to try using the Sambuca. How much Sambuca would I use in this recipe? Thank you, please keep these videos coming.

  • @mbbrown721

    Golden brown- the bottoms look very dark to me. Parchment paper better than foil.

  • @Navygrl58

    The extract is much more potent than the anisette liquor so how much of the sambuca or anisette should I use for the dough enough to be able to taste it when baked?

    Where when do you add the vanilla? I don’t see it in the video but it’s listed in the ingredients.

    These came out so yummy, thank you. My Mother's recipe was similar but seemed to be too big of a recipe. I'm wondering if I can freeze some of these to put out Easter Sunday? I already put the icing on them. Thank you! Nonna Dianne

    • @cookingwithnonna
      @cookingwithnonna  7 років тому +1

      Yes they can be frozen! But I only recommend freezing them without the icing. Then when you're ready to serve defrost and ice them.

      I did yesterday Rossella! They are so hard to resist. I also wanted to tell you I made them with gluten free all purpose flour and they are amazing. One other question...my Nonna made a pizza rustica that they called...Bostich? I know I'm not spelling it correctly, LOL I'm making your Nonna's recipe because mine a huge recipe. Similar to yours.
