To All of the Regular Viewers: There is nothing really new to see here, other than me making it 30,000 miles since the last transmission fluid & filter change. This is just another recap video, mainly for new comers, as I will state within the first 45 seconds of this video. Why You Should Consider Changing Your Transmission Fluid & Filter BEFORE Changing Your Transmission

I was almost convinced that I would have to buy another transmission in my 2015 Lincoln Navigator before using instant shudder Fixx at 110,000 miles and then finally changing the fluid and filer at close to 188,000 miles. Have you ever asked why most people don't change the fluid and filter in their transmissions every 40,000 miles?? It's because manufacturers have trained us to use a transmiss...

    *This video is a great review update on the product. All it is, is an anti-friction additive. It is science. But not witchcraft. LoL!* *As a mechanic of over 40 years, I can hands-down say, there is nothing wrong with Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep (and dissolved manufacturers under the umbrella) when comparing to any other vehicle brand. I have had so many Fords. Their greatest engines are the 3.0 V6 Vulkan (reliability and fuel economy), the 4.6 V8 Modular, 5.0 (any gen incl. the Coyote). All fanstastic engines. Their 3.8 Essex is trash. Their Zetec is not great. Their Duratecs are great. Duratec was engineered by Porsche.* *But I have owned a Plymouth Neon Expresso 2 door, 5 speed manual. 2.0 DOHC i4, a 2.5 Turbo i4 Plymouth Voyageur, a 3.0 V6 Chrysler Town & Country and a 3.3 V6 Dodge Grand Caravan. I currently own a 1992 Chrysler LeBaron 3.0 LX sedan. I have had other products from them with zero issues. Like the Eagle Vision (Chrysler Intrepid).* *As a mechanic, I have rebuilt loads of vehicles under every brand. People become biased because they are not knowledgeable about what they are dealt and grow disdain towards things through their ignorance.* *I've also owned 20+ GMs. My favorite by FAR were my two Buick Roadmaster Limited cars. A 1992 Sedan with an L05 350 and a 1996 black and red station wagon with an LT1 350. Nothing lasted as long as those cars.* *PS - I've also rebuilt/repaired and owned loads of Toyotas/Lexus, Honda/Acura, Nissan/Infinity, BMW, VW/Audi, and much more.*

      If you can, step up to 2016. They only made that version for 3 years but the 2016 and 2017 models are so much better. If you want the waterfall grill version 2018-2024, go with the 2022 or later. Believe me, I've done my homework and there is a comparison video of the 2015 vs 2017 Lincoln Navigator somewhere on this channel.

    I change mine every 50k or 1year . I put roughly 50k a year on my vehicles and by doing this ive had transmission that were slipping skipping bucking ect and resolved the issues and return to mostly normal function and performance for several years before they finally failed. Every transmission failure ive ever had the vehicle drove without any indication of any issues till it failed complely

    • @j2review
      @j2review Місяць тому

      I agree that every 50,000 miles is the sweet spot to change the fluid & filter. I typically take most of my vehicles just over 300,000 miles before I decide to unload them. Before discovering the magic of changing the fluid & filter, I would typically flush the transmission every 60,000 miles. I only had one transmission fail in a 2008 Lincoln Town Car. One day, it just quit on me without warning.

  • @MichaelBrown-yp1eq

    why not just have the transmission rebuilt. surely the clutches, and valves are worn. replace the clutches, electronics, valves, and seals. might need to replace the torque convertor. that way you get rid of that shudder.

    • @j2review
      @j2review Місяць тому

      The point is to see how long the transmission will last with the routine maintenance it should've received earlier in the first place. Currently, the shudder is gone.

      @@j2review with the problem you mention that transmission is on it's last leg. all you are doing is prolonging what's about to happen, and destroying the transmission case, and all the internals. all the money you have already spent, and about to spend on it you could rebuild it.

    • @j2review
      @j2review Місяць тому

      I appreciate your insight and I understand that. When I attempted to change the fluid and filter at 60,000 miles, every dealership I went to flat out refused. Since discovering there was a problem, I was unable to find a dealership that would touch it. All of this is in the other videos. Unfortunately, I can't actually afford to rebuild it or replace it right now. I've been setting aside money, so that I won't have to lean on a credit card to repair or replace it when the time comes.

Based on your video i tried this blow dryer trick and it thankfully worked! I appreciate the info. My next fridge will definitely not be a Samsung. They need to stick to televisions. *****UPDATE ****** This trick only temporarily helped me. A week later it was frozen again. I was just watching one of your original videos. It was really helpful! Grateful. Two tubes shudder fix took me another 10k mi (only drain and fill w/ 2 tubes) Genesis w 175k. Now the shudder came back. Drained and filled 2x before adding new tranny pan/filter and bottle of lifeguard platinum. Shutter was still there, but better. Now after adding 2 tubes shudder fix, shutter is there, but probably about 70% gone. You've had more experience than me, any ideas?

      Thank you! The Genesis is a great car! I almost bought an Eqqus a decade ago and then rented a 2013 Genesis for a month and really fell in love with it. Anyway, those cars are workhorses. I’m shocked that there is any shudder at all after doing everything that you’ve done, but I must remind you that I had to flush the Instant Shudder Fixx and LG Platinum out of my transmission before seeing the progress I’m seeing today. The Lubegard (LG) products are great but eventually, you have to move on and only use what the manufacturer intended you to use in that transmission, which is Mercon LV (Low Viscosity). Please keep me posted. That Genesis should give you another 125k without a struggle, I hope.

    So awesome to watch your journey man! I just started watching your videos the other night and wished there was another update - my wish was granted! Thank you so much for your effort to document your experience! It's been multiple years and thousands of miles! Your efforts are greatly appreciated! I have 405,000+ miles on my Scion tC and I've been dealing with the shudder for a long time now - I haven't had much confidence in dealing with it, transmission issues are scary business! All the literature says not to mess with the fluid and there's plenty of warning tales of guys who tried to change their fluid and it made things worse. It hasn't been a major issue for me but it's annoying and I'd like to have it fixed. It seems like the best course of action is to find a trustworthy independent mechanic who cares about keeping cars on the road and let them change the fluid and filter. Hopefully its not too late for me. I've got a guy I trust so fingers crossed, wish me luck! From one professional street driver to another - THANK YOU 🙏🙌

      @@j2review Alright my guy here's the update: I went to my mechanic and asked for my transmission fluid to be drained and filled. I figured that would be fast and easy for them and easy on my wallet. I could have done the work myself but I like supporting my local small town mechanic, he also happens to be a family member I trust and respect. My car ended up taking a lot longer at the mechanic than I thought it would, like 4 or 5 hours instead of 1 or 2 like I thought. When they called me to get my car back they said the fluid was soooo bad they went ahead and dropped the pan and replaced the filter, refilled it, drove it around, then drained and filled the fluid AGAIN to try and clean the old stuff out. When I drove my car away I could instantly feel the physical difference. The transmission felt tighter, and most importantly my torque converter shudder is almost totally gone. I can still feel it wanting to do it around 35-40, but it's not doing it so far. It's still a 400K+ mile transmission lol I don't expect it to be like-new but man, it really really helped. Now here's the fun bit where it gets a lil complicated - The day after the repair I drove my car for work delivering all day. Car did fantastic. No problems to speak of. Then on my way home less than a mile from my house, CEL came on. Car was acting fine but the CEL decided to come on. So I drove home and ran the code, and it was a general ECU/PCM code. Great, an electrical gremlin. I look up potential causes and fixes and google gives me the range of answers from "it could be fine, or it could be totally catastrophic. Sometimes caused by new parts" so I figured okay, my ECU/PCM is just confused by the new fluid. Disconnected the battery to reset the ECU/PCM, reconnected it, and I've been driving around with zero issues since. To summarize what the ECU/PCM problem was: my transmission had built a data set on how it behaved with the old fluid in it, and when new fluid was introduced it had no way of knowing that, all it detected was a drastic change from how it had been normally operating, so it threw a code as a precaution to say "Hey, this ain't normal" - so all I had to do was tell the computer "This is what normal fluid is like" by resetting it and now it seems to be happier lol. Sorry for my tl;dr youtube book comment lol but I'm sharing because I think it may help other people if they change their fluid and experience similar issues! Changing the fluid physically helped my transmission but it also electronically confused it, I had to take extra steps to make sure my transmission is as happy as I can make it lol I hope this helps someone! Thankfully it's as easy as turning it off and back on again! :P Disconnecting my battery also messed with my power windows a lil bit, had to reset those, that was annoying but it was part of the deal with my car so expect similar stuff if you disconnect your battery you may have to reset some other electronic things too.

    I have watched all 26 of your videos about your Transmission issues. How many miles do you currently have on your 2015 Navigator ? I have a 2016 Lincoln Navigator with 123,000 miles. I’m debating how much longer I should keep it before any major issues come up. I would love it if I could keep the Navigator until it reaches 250,000 miles.

      My 2015 Navigator is currently around 230,470 miles. I'm confident I can get 250,000 miles out of it, but this summer is really tough. The fans are constantly running, despite the engine coolant level being where it should. I'm working on a new update video, which should be out by the end of the week. Thank you!

    Thank you, for sharing your trip to an Apple retail store to check out their current full iPad line-up. I prefer the older vintage design style and form factor. So several years ago, I picked-up a basic iPad 9th generation with max specifications 256GB and the cell data option. Afterward, I paired it with a Logitech Combo Touch Keyboard. However if, I had never owned an iPad before and, I did not already have the following: an Apple 1st generation pencil, wired headphones, lighting adapters to read SD cards, USB Flash drives, etc. Would instead be buying the same model as yourself but, with 1TB of storage and the cell data option, and placing my order on the Apple Veterans web site (saving 10 percent) for around $1,800 (smile...smile).

      @j2review 4 місяці тому

      My first iPad had the cell data and I loved it but at the time (2010), it could not use your phone's hotspot. Once they dropped that restriction, I just tethered through the phone and dropped the data plan. I haven't worried about it since. I also had a 3rd party iPad keyboard case that worked ok, but this new magic keyboard has me hooked! Thank you for your service!

      @@j2review Thank you, for replying to my post. My current basic iPad 9th generation is my third iPad and, each model has been with max storage and the cell data option. I know that, most people use their cell telephone a lot and many also have unlimited data plans. However, I am just the opposite. So, my primary mobile device is my basic iPad and, it has an unlimited data plan for $21 per month (smile...smile).

      You're welcome! I made an error in my video. I actually had the iPad 250MB (yes, Megabyte!) data plan from April 2010 to December 2012 for $30 per month. Not a good deal but I did like the convenience at the time. Now, with this iPad Pro, the connection to my iPhone is so seamless, I never desire having dedicated data. However, it's great that you're only paying $21 per month! I would probably go for that!

    You are funny. You said you got a lot of workouts out of that thing. You should know that any machine, including your car, requires maintenance, especially if it has moving parts, and I don't care what brand of machine you buy.

    • @j2review
      @j2review 4 місяці тому

      Glad you find me to be funny 😜 I generally refer to baseball rules (3 strikes, you're out!) when it comes to most products, except for cars because they are much harder to get rid of. I've repaired this machine 3 times but this 4th malfunction appears to be the last because it's beyond minor repair. I've been through a lot, kid. I've repaired and rebuilt countless things. You want to talk about cars?? Most things should be built to last, including this elliptical machine. Schwinn can do better than this. Last but not least, you get what you pay for and I'm well aware that in most cases, I shouldn't complain about an elliptical that was given to me for free. However, if I paid $800 to $1,000 for this machine, I wouldn't be happy.

    • @jess8075
      @jess8075 4 місяці тому

      @@j2review What you are referring in your video are moving parts, that require maintenance, lubrication for one thing and re-tightening of hardware every so often. If you don't keep up with these two important factors on equipment like you are complaining about, that's is what is going to happen.

    • @j2review
      @j2review 4 місяці тому

      Now, you're the one who is funny. The machine was checked and lubricated multiple times. Do you have an elliptical machine?

    • @jess8075
      @jess8075 4 місяці тому

      @@j2review Yes, I do. In fact, it's the same brand and model you are complaining about. I bought it for 80 dollars from someone who decided that working out was too much work. I've had it for 4 years now and use it all the time. I do maintenance periodically, and it's been great; otherwise, I won't be taking my time to write. What brand would you recommend that doesn't break down? I'm just curious.

    • @j2review
      @j2review 4 місяці тому

      Cool! It's great to hear that you not only have the Schwinn E 430 but that you're a consistent elliptical user. I discovered the elliptical machine back in my apartment gym, back in 1999. At the time, I was an avid runner, but I clearly realized why the elliptical was so much better for me. My only problem is that I haven't been as consistent as you until recently. Once again, I did get mine for free from my neighbor who wasn't into it, so I know I shouldn't complain. At the end of the day, it's a first-world problem. I have a gym membership, so I just use the Precor or Matrix ones they have. I think the best affordable brand for home would be ProForm. I had ProForm treadmill that was super reliable for 12 years. I ended up donating it to a gym.

    • @j2review

      Being someone who started on Windows 95, I can say dealing with Apple's proprietary system isn't such a bad thing. Don't get me wrong, I went from despising Windows to finally accepting it again, simply for the fact that I can build my own PC the way I want it. This is a wonderful thing. However, Apple has created an ecosystem unlike any other company. They deliver sleek products with very solid operating systems but used to be almost "perfectly solid" when Steve Jobs was alive. Sony is another proprietary company that most people don't complain about because they use Windows OS on their computers but the Playstation is as proprietary as it gets.
