      Hi @vishwajeethraji,
      Sorry but I am unfamiliar with this ointment! Dust allergy can be tricky, but you can certainly look to calm the system down - sometimes probiotics or vitamin D can assist with this process.

I realised it spread to his body. Not a lot but just wnough to make me feel a bit concerned. He woukd get a few bumps here and there the past few months but nohing like this. What could it be? Hi my son is 2 weeks old and his face and head is full of pimples from one week. You can say acne developed from age of 1 week. I am really worried it became worse fully covered with postule pimples and he is totally on breastfeeding. I am avoiding soap and oils from last 2 days and now he has pimples on his back also from 1 day.
    Please do suggest what should i do to get rid of this ?

      There are so many causes behind skin problems; diet, contact, hormones... If there is a bit of pus inside them it could be an infection, but sometimes it could just be little dots called milia - and these are two very different conditions with two very different managements!
      Best thing to do is bring your bub to a health professional so they can have a look!

      Hi Tan, and thanks for the comment.
      Certainly can. Most formulas are derived from cows milk and thus will contain the proteins that will trigger off responses. Some formulas are branded "HA" for hypoallergenic, and these utilise the whey protein only which tends to be less reactive for most bubs.

    Hey doc my baby's cheek looks like it is burned is it the milk pouring on his face

    • @AskDrChristian
      @AskDrChristian  2 роки тому +2

      Hi there,
      Are you bottle feeding? If you are bottle feeding and you're concerned that the milk may be burning be sure to check the temperature of the milk prior to a feed as it can get quite hot!
      If you are breast feeding, its not the temperature of the milk causing a burn, it may be the content of the milk causing an aggravation. In cases of allergy, when you contact/ingest the substance you are sensitive to it causes an increased inflammatory and immune response, and this may look like redness on the cheeks, chin and chest. I often describe it as "looking angry".
      If you would like, you can send a picture through to askdrchristian@gmail.com and I can have a look for you.
      Thanks for the question,

We have a lab test it was a result of the allergy to egg white (11) and every mild for wheat and soy (0.14). I stopped eating egg and seem to get better. And now his skin to be flared up again. I only consume a very small amount of soy sauce and i totally stop wheat and eggs. His skin seems to be worse. I don’t know what to do now should I start switching to formula? I am really stressful my baby has been fussy than normal. And he’s only nap for 30mins per time. He will be 6 month old next week. Please advise. Thank you

      One thing that can happen with allergies is if you stop for a little bit and then re-introduce, it can cause a flaring of that response.

      Hi Nina,
      There are a lot of reasons to why your baby may have a rash, and one of them could be due to what they are eating. Are they breastfed or formula fed? Which brand? If breastfeed - what is your diet like?
      And then we have the non-dietary options - could it just be a regular hormonal rash, could it be a reaction to washing powders, could they have contacted something, have they recently had a virus or sickness....
      Lots of options!
      Best thing to do is if you are concerned, consult a health professional so they can have a proper look.

      Hi there Faizoo!

      Hi there king Cynthia - thanks for reaching out.
      Rashes on a 6-day old can be nearly anything! Food, contact, perfumes - even just normal skin reactions that are occurring because their skin is still adapting to the new air around them.
      Best bet is to keep an eye on it, and if it starts showing signs of becoming red and angry, or itchy and irritated, or if its just getting worse, then head in to your health professional for a review.

      @AskDrChristian  Рік тому

      Hi Lydisdajoyce - and thank you for reaching out.
      At 8 weeks old, this might be a normal rash that can occur in some babies as a result of hormonal changes. Typically starts at the cheeks before progressing down to the top of the chest and eventually disappearing.
      If it continues, or starts spreading further, then I would consider a reaction of sorts could be occurring.

    Hi Dr. My 4 month old is starting to break out in small bumpy red spots and blistering spots on her neck and chest. It was just a few at first.. After a couple hours they multiplied. And today it's spreading slowly all the over her body. It doesn't bother her, she's not fussy or agitated. She doesn't try to scratch it either.
    We have a Dr's appointment coming up but I decided to rub breastmilk all over her tonight and see if it will help since they say it's anti bacterial..
    I have not added anything new to my diet, nor have I purchased any new products.. I can't think of any reason why it would be an allergic reaction 🤦🏽‍♀️

    • @AskDrChristian
      @AskDrChristian  2 роки тому +1

      Hi again Kadija,
      Any chance that she may be teething at the moment? At 4 months old I often see teeth start to come through, and with that comes a lot of dribble/drool which can irritate and come up as a bit of a rash. Might also have a bit of redness around the backside at the same time too.
      Good to see you have a follow up about it, and while it may be something as simple as this, it is wise to seek that medical review just in case.

      Hi there Tshegofatso,
      Some responses could last for a short time, and some could cause swelling of the eyes, but so can other conditions. I'd be considering something in your milk or even a contact response with the bedsheet/clothes (some detergents can set off responses like this), but then I'd also be wanting to make sure kidneys are fine for instance, and that may mean a visit to your health professional for a proper assessment :)

    Hi Dr Christian, hoping you can help my dilemma...!
    My 6 month old has had a rash on her right cheek for over a month now! It seemed like it started from teething and excess dribble. Now it seems very angry it’s dried out and it’s cracking/bleeding in small places.
    She unfortunately had ringworm and a doctor suggested to put a thin layer of that onto her face too! Which hasn’t seemed to help I’ve also tried nothing for a week and a nipple cream (to use as a barrier and help the dryness) nothing has helped!

      @AskDrChristian  Рік тому

      Hi there Natalie, and thanks for reaching out.
      Yes, you can get a rash on the cheek from teething, and the cream that is usually used for ringworm is a hydrocortisone cream which should have helped. Has she popped her tooth out yet? Is she rubbing it against her bedding? Is there something that she could be rubbing against to create an issue?
      What's her feeding like - lots of choking, gagging, coughing etc?

      Hi Dr Christian,
      Thankyou for your kind reply!
      Her tooth has finally appeared (yesterday!) could this rash have been the issue caused a month ago from the tooth? Her rash is still there but less cracked and ‘angry’
      She does gag during feeding but I always thought that was due to my fast let down and having trouble to keep up with the flow.
      Could the cheek possibly clear up now the tooth has appeared?
      Thankyou!

    • @AskDrChristian
      @AskDrChristian  Рік тому

      Yes it could! I've seen some pretty dramatic stuff occur with teething, so don't rule it out as being the reason. Tooth movement is a slow process that cycles around 2-4 weeks.

      This really depends on what is going on. For most that I see, removal of the offending substance from mum and bub's diet is the first step. If you've found the right one, skin clears up pretty quick. From this point you can trial a little bit after a month and see if it gets worse again, and this would confirm that substance.
      Because there might be more than one thing involved, and because you are changing diets around, it's a good idea to discuss this with your health professional prior to making big changes!

      Hi there Zara, and thank you for reaching out.
      At 28 days, this could be a hormonal response, in which case it will clear up on its own in a couple of weeks. Monitor for other little things that may suggest allergy instead; cradle cap developing, straining with bowel movements or even mucous present in the poop may be indicators of an allergic response which would prompt further discussion with a health care professional about minimising/removing this from your diet.
      Thanks!
      Christian
