What People Get Wrong About Masculinity

- Masculinity isn't a product. It isn't to be bought from some red pill grifter. Masculinity is natural and healthy. Masculinity is not toxic. What people get wrong about masculinity, is that it's not flashy. It's not about showing off. It's timeless and good.

Masculinity: The serendipitous stone shelter at the end of this video.😎
Thank you for noticing.
I am feeling more masculine by the minute+ great vlog
Cool, thanks Bjorn.🙏
Perfect symbol.
Enough said.
I couldn't agree more. "Do the right thing even when no one is looking." Tusen Takk Bjorn 🙏🐻
great point indeed. you rarely hear that as a definition for masculinity.
That's the definition of integrity.
You have many feathers in your cap. Lots of skills, like a renaissance man. Thank you, Bjorn
That is so true.
So nice of you to say that!
Would you marry her?
I’ve been called a renaissance woman because of my independence and adaptability. I love this comment. I think it’s an attractive quality to be brave and strong.
@@pantryonlyrecipes Independence? I wonder if anyone, male or female, in the times of Renaissance could be independent at all. In the societies structures it must have been very difficult, if not impossible. And looking at outstanding Ladies of these times, like Artemisia Gentileschi, she was able to reach certain hights, because her father supported her in her talent.
Dear Bjorn, you are a very wise man, we urgently need more man like you in this weird world...
My thoughts on masculinity are basically: if a man has to demonstrate how masculine he is, then he is not truly masculine at all. A genuine man cares little about proving himself; he simply lives, and his true masculinity shines through effortlessly, he is a support to those around him. I am with you on this.
I believe a certain level of physical and mental strength is a prerequisite just to be sane and healthy.
Thank you. My late husband re-built a three hundred year old ruin for us and did it alone. He was a self contained, kind man who loved to use his hands to make things. Real men do not need to prove they are men, they just are and it is instinctive in them to protect others. We hear so much about 'toxic masculinity' and what is that supposed to mean? Men and women complement each other. It has worked for centuries.
Beautifully articulated, my great grandfather was a man like that and I have strove to emulate it in my own life. Though I fear I have fallen far short.
Well said❤👌
a masculine man will make a woman feels safe. You can’t describe this in words, but a woman can feel it. A man wants to protect, a woman longs for safety. Isn’t nature beautiful 😊
When your girlfriend/wife gets scared and her first instinct is to get behind you or call out your name, you have succeeded to some extent. She knows you will be there to protect her, no matter what. Even if the odds are not in your favor, she still believes in you. That means something for both of you.
This is 100% true!
So true, wonderful said❤
It’s the natural order of our world 🙌🏻
And a masculine man will be on the receiving end of the full force of the law from the govt department for 'controlling and fixing men's behaviour' (i.e. turning them into soy-boy leftist simps/cucks) in countries such as Australia, Canada, UK & New Zealand
Masculinity is...beautiful.
Too Right! That's what makes channels like this (esp as a woman) so appealing. Also, Love Aussie Rules football for this reason. Men & masculinity are Beautiful👌
“If you are going be a hero. Be a real hero don’t be loud, tough or mean. Be strong enough to be gentle”
a man helps make the egg, then he protect the egg
Your generation thinks that everyone will change so you don't have to bother learning the rules of written communication. I'm quietly laughing, knowing that you will miss so many opportunities because you are sloppy and inherently anti-intellectual.
"Real masculinity is not being afraid to cry and talk about your feelings" bs
After continual emasculation by modern trends, it is a relief to watch your videos.
My husband is the epitome of masculinity, he protects he provides, yes he keeps fit, but he doesnt groom himself as such, just gets a haircut, buys normal clothes, looks after me, and looks out for my elderley mother, runs a banged up car, and I love it , most of the time, and if he gets tooo masculine, like bossing me around too much, I tell him, and he gets it, he is hairy, he is big, and he is a real man, I love it!
Nice man. But, what do YOU bring to his table ? Anything ?
Masculinity is also not apologizing for ones english when one is from Scandinavia😁 Skoal from Denmark!😃
It is Scandinavian understatement
taking up responsibility instead of fleeing from it
What is a man ?
A man is not a woman.
What is a woman ?
There’s a “delusion” of masculinity and a “dilution” of masculinity.
The most masculine men I’ve met are both patient and quiet. It’s better to be silent and thought a fool than it is to open your mouth and prove it…
My grandfather was one of those men. Patient, wise, kind, strong and gentle. He loved my grandmother immensely, and never insulted her or made her feel less than. Even towards the end when she was beginning symptoms of Alzheimers/Dementia, he was very patient and kind to her.
You just perfectly described the difference of high testosterone versus low testosterone.
"The inferior man argues about his rights, while the superior man imposes duties on himself"
Greetings from Louisiana to my favorite bearded guy in the woods
Life is different, when you live in the woods or away from toxic 'social media'. Nature comes back fast and no need for validation from people you don't know or never met. Important things will come back to you, Naturally !
Someone said " Compassion is the mesure of your Humanity".
Funny you should make this video now, I was just having this conversation with my wife. We've been given a false masculinity. The most masculine man I ever knew was my great grandfather. He was a coal miner and a farmer all his life, he never yelled or lost his temper. He was stoic and reserved, the brash cocky persona they push is more estrogen than testosterone.
Thank you Bjorn, I will share this with my son.😊
Bjorn, you certainly can build a house. My wife , my two sons and I built our house. We started when I was 58 years old with zero prior experience. And it has turned out beautifully. A house doesn't need to float like a boat or stay in the air as a plane. If you don't like how a portion turns out simply knock it down and do it over. Trust me, anyone can build a house.
In what country? I hate to break it to you but in most countries, literally every little thing that is part of building a house requires courses, govt licences and heaps of money.
Painting, plastering, framing, bricklaying, concreting, insulating, electrical, plumbing, etc. are all regulated professions that require licenced professionals, and there's plenty more (I've only listed a few) things that you can't legally do.
Trust me - in most of the world, even if you know how to build a house and do everything properly, if you try you will end up in jail with decades of time due to the thousands of criminal charges you will face.
Bjorn knows how to do everything.

Oh my days Bjorn, about the comment sections online. I am thinking about it everytime i see all these people spreading hate and everything, so sad and it just leaves me disgusted. Much love from Greece. 💙
Masculinity is an integral part of a man's character and personality that is built in to him from childhood by his upbringing, his education, the example from those around him, and his interaction with his environment that shows him why he exists and how he needs to behave.
💫CheerfulComment:
"integral part of" ... character ...
Possibly through 'time passages' Nasculinity shall be "integral part of man & woman" character; Feminity integral part (not whole or all) of woman & man character. Represented respectively balanced within the definition of Human, becoming "integral" character. 👏integral: what's important what's not value: 2025
Masculinity does cry & Feminity does growl
You're wise man Bjorn😊 world needs more real men like u❤
Thanks for emphasing protection. As the child of a single mother, the masculine protection of a father was something I never knew. Then I grew up in a world where the quality was rapidly dying in society at large. Insecure children don't grow up to be the most secure adults. A protective man is rarity in the U.S. BTW, your pronunciation has always been excellent as far as I can tell. ❤
Depth of character . Your authenticity is an oasis ... pure . I'm not a play thing for the dark forces . I like who I am ,, and I like you ....
True masculinity makes the room for true femininity. It's nature and needs each other, everything needs balance. You said it so well. And wonderful surrounding!
what is true femininity ?
Thank You, Bjorn for taking me on a forest walk with you! 🙌🏽✨🙌🏽
Ancient masculinity plus ancient femininity equals divine balance. ❤
Beautiful video and content and I agree with it.
Masculinity does not need to be a ''show off'' demonstration to everyone!!!
Because unfortunately, I know some people who desperately need to prove something
by showing off all the time and it gets so draining with time.
Masculinity should be strong but silent as well.
And finally, I like the fact that you are so humble Bjorn by approaching this topic.
Continue the great work, your videos are awesome.
Simon's
Thanks for your talks and the walks in your woods Bjorn. I feel more grounded after listening to your monologues, and the nature is really beautiful. Makes me long to be in Norway again.
Your response to Poppy made you the better man.
Your last comment about masculine/feminine being “ancient” - I laughed so loud because that is the point.
We (women) always were there too, but to me it is like we “get discovered” now.
And as you say - it is difficult to explain masculine/feminine while being “it”.
Apart from that - you gave my thoughts a different direction. I am a single-raisin’ (mom) and I now noticed that I was forced to do - or I instinctively covered - both part and I did not understand why I was so tired and wraught. And I have a son so I could not step down…
Well, now I can… watching you I want to be a wild woman in the woods (with Autobahns surrounding the forrest, lol)
Really chill vibe just hanging out with you sir, I think you did the right thing choosing kindness in that situation.
Love your kitchen 😉
The greatest of conversation happens around a table (gathering). Thank you for what you say, you teach. So much disconnect and trying to fit in: be an image. When all they need is guidance…there’s a reason 💯
You are like a breath of fresh air in a stuffy room - thank you so much!
Sending love from a Ukrainian living in England 💕
Bjørn you are Masculine to the bone🏹🍀🏹🍀🏹🍀
Happy weekend Uncle Bjørn! 🙌🏻
Your English is perfect. So is mine as a Romanian with Canadian citizenship. 😅 Your forest is perfect and same message goes for women too. In my opinion. Thank you! I'm very grateful for the technology that allows us to meet and know people like you across 'worlds'. 🙏❤
I agree, also real women are called to persevere. Love to see the Norwegian woods with my favourite viking :)
Your English is yours, because you have another language, that makes a huge difference in how you think and express yourself. Thank you Bjorn
I watch many of your videos not because I always agree with them but because they are sometimes thought provoking.
In this case, though, I happen to agree with many of your assessments - not because most of these characteristics are particularly masculine but because they are characteristics of mature adults.
I'm commenting today because I think your assessment of what it means to be a protector doesn't actually go far enough. While it is commendable for a man to protect his hearth and home - his family - the role of a man extends beyond his own bounds. Humans are naturally gregarious, so we all have responsibilities to our community as well. Consider the dozens of families who lost men (for the sake of this discussion, I'm ignoring the other people lost) in the recent aviation disaster in Washington. Do those children not also deserve protection? Will their sons not also need masculine guidance on how to navigate the world? What of their mother's, wives, and daughters? Are they no longer worthy of going out in public without harassment simply because they lack a manly protector?
What I'm missing from your video is the extension of your philosophy that a man ensures that all people are allowed to live without fear and harassment rather than only those with a man at home.
I'd be interested to hear your thoughts on this.
Amen brother! I love how you responded to the attack of that feminist. You had every right in the world to defend yourself from being characterly attacked by someone who obviously knows nothing about what YOU stand for. I admire how you stood up for yourself and I learned something from that. Your defense was calm, collected, stoic, intelligent, kind and humorous all rolled into one, all of which, was ultimate in masculine form!
I agree with your view. it is inside of you not inside your garage.
Great words of wisdom. Men are to be men,and women are to be women. That’s the way we were created. Each have a certain role in life. Just embrace it and quit trying to change it.
I learnt how to hand sharpen knives recently with a Naniwa whetstone, seem to be heading towards making them in the future, looking forward to learning new things whilst making pretty tools with the aim of eventually selling them. Learn new things, put into practice, extend personal goals.
You've mentioned how warm your winter has been in Norway. I think we here in the US must be getting your extremely cold weather. It's been a cold, snowy winter here where I live. 🥶
You know Ned Flanders from the Simpsons? He is actually super jacked and ripped but he rarely shows it off. Modesty is very sexy.
haha until he was in Homer's imagination "feels like I'm wearing nothing at all...." 😂
Couldn’t agree more. Protect, teach, put others needs as more important (mostly) than mine. By the way that coffee cup is amazing.
Yea, that coffee mug; what's it made of, certainly doesn't look hygenic. Or is that part of masculiniyy?
A beautiful area you live in. No snow in Norway, record snow in Japan, record cold in the U.S.
Thanks for the needed words of wisdom, Bjørn!
Timeless and important topic. Spending time in nature makes you care less about what people think of you, and therefore grow and reflect more easier.
Great video and nice new hat! I love old hats.
Thank you❤
A great video, with an excellently humorous thumbnail😁
All great truths to fallow. Talks like this are much needed in this world, especially for those in my age groups
So true in so many ways. Thanks Bjorn...
Thank you, Bjorn.
Great video. Real truth/wisdom. All the best to you, brother.
Marvin in USA...🇳🇴🤝
I'm only 31 yet the winters still are warmer than when I was a child.
It's nature
Exactly Bjorn ! 100% totally agree with you. My husband has always been just as you describe.
True masculinity is being able to build a dog house for ya dog, but also for yourself when your wife sends you out.
Sends you? I think you’ve got this message ass-backwards amigo.. 😀😀
Bjorn, you replied to the article with intelligence and grace! I love your channel. It is both informative and enjoyable 😊
I grew up in British Columbia, Canada, as an outdoorsman. Where you are now, is paradise for me! . . . In one of your future videos, could you please hunt or fish, cook and eat, to make it a true outdoors cooking show?
Thank you!!!
Very nice to hear somebody thinking about life, the way it really should be, and how it can be. Inspirational, thank you for the insight.
"We need it now more than ever".
"These times are so uncertain."
Actually I have been hearing this my entire life.
I am so happy :)
I agree with many of the sentiments of this, EXCEPT I don't agree with with the idea of "men's feelings matter less". I actually think that is partially what compounds the confusion of what masculinity and equality is now, because men's feelings matter as much as anyone else's, and to say otherwise contributes to inequality and men's often silent struggle with mental health. Its an old fashioned and inherently untrue statement.
Also your comment about builidng a house being masculine made me laugh, perhaps cos it is true that it requires strength to do, but does sound like a somewhat absurd statement now.
Appreciate you sharing your thoughts, as always.
60% of West World females have mental problems. 30% are mentally sick & use Big Pharma
Peace to you and yours brother 🙏🧙🏼♂️
We need more of this attitude in society
Thanks Bjorn.
Always nice to see you again, Bjorn. Your videos always transmit this peacefullnes to me, which my city life can´t really give me enough at the moment. However, thanks for your work man!
And to the topic: for me the ultimate masculinity is when a man have values like truth/honesty, loyalty, morals, culture and such for which he is always brave enough to stand up for no matter who and how many people will be against it.
"Be yourself no matter what they say"
Faster horses, older whiskey, and younger women. Drive fast. Take chances! Nice woods. Dapper hat. Central Minnesota has received 25 to 30 centimeters in last few days. Negative 15 to 20°C. Winter here.
Thank you I agree and it’s so obvious. I don’t like it when men and women are attacking each other also. I’m English but have Scandinavian ancestry. ✨☕️
Thanks Bjorn! Loved the feather in your hat 😍😁
Thanks Bjorn 😊 You take care.
I'm a trans woman, but virtuous masculinity has always very important to me. Masculinity is strong, in the way it can carry a raw, uncracked egg across a mountain without cracking it, and tells no-one. It takes tenacity, humility, strength, endurance, discipline, consistency. It knows that the opportunities to be and look like a fool are endless. It knows that excess material progress, aside that which provides for family and community is needless indulgence.
I like when masculine men speak, it's the masculine man who is able to confidently and calmly reassure a little girl that the wolf outside won't harm her, then grabs the axe and walks outside. He doesn't boast, he understands the wolf is also just trying to live, that conflict is not sport, it's not glory, it just is.
Glad to hear this perspective, thank you.
Great content as always! Thanks for sharing the beauty that surrounds you there in Norway along with the stoicism!
Have a nice sunday Bjorn.
Being a boss is looking after business whether you’re rich or poor, but especially when you’re poor.
One masculine trait is the desire to create order out of chaos. To tame things into a hierarchy. When a man is young he plays with chaos and when older, has chaos at his heel.
We mix up what a man is with what a man can do.
rich people problems, they get everything wrong.
I like your reflections abt life near that cozy fire. Btw, it's a beautiful place and the day feels warm like the early spring.
It is time to revive true masculinity. Strong but not a bully. Capable but not a braggart. A protector but not overbearing. Able of walking away from critics, without looking back, knowing who he is, and has nothing to apologize for.
Then it is time for women to remember how to be a woman. Some women have had to take on both roles due to a lack of 'real men'. It doesn't work because it isn't balanced. I personally would welcome the return of masculinity as I have lost my feminism along the way, and I would love to reclaim it.
Quiet strength, competence, and self-confidence. That might be all of it.
A nice video, Bjorn. You are right a bout the perseverance. A man should lean on his inner stoicism to get through tougher times.
Yeah kinda like that KungFu quote, a fighter does not beat his tambourine before he goes to battle, something like that.
Ah Bjorn, I’m just some guy out in the woods as well. Everyone needs a code to live by, and to be comfortable with themselves. I think you have it figured out. As far as your detractors, it’s like the old saying. If they can’t take a joke - fuck ‘em.
Absolutely. Character and confidence are key.
Hello again brother. I'm put in mind of yin and yang by your discussion; and that if you dispense with difference, all you're left with is grey. Some boys are more feminine, some girls are more masculine - that's just how they are, whether as a result of nature or nurture. To coin the old phrase, you can't put a square peg in a round hole, and there are things about us that are intrinsic. No amount of hours watching Andrew Tate will change us at our core. The important thing is that we are patient with ourselves as we learn to become comfortable in our own skins.
Honestly, looking back, I spent far too long trying to emulate others to fit in, or to capture an ideal... The best thing I ever did was learn to accept myself as I am and build from there.
Forget the norm. There is no such thing.
Thanks, as ever Bjorn. You're one sage individual. Peace.
Norway looks so beautiful. My ancestors 5 generations ago came from Norway ❤
Hope All is Well Love The Areas You Go To
So true a mature man stable spiritually awakened is he's truest and highest self knows he's not he's ego although has healthy traits when called for and vibrates on he's highest frequency the divine masculine and feminine mind as one consciousness, cheers brother Norman bjorn my surname originated as Elwald king elf ruler, gringlelwald Switzerland, lovely beautiful village 🙏😇❤️
Your english is just fine.
It does the job.
Sincere.
Masculine.
And not bad, for a Norwegian.........
P.S. For those non-scandinavians out there, we scandinavians are like brothers that love poking fun at each other. Like men do.
We are in an age in which we are existentially lost; this happens cyclically throughout history, societies struggle, they rise to the top, they rest on their laurels, and they fall, just to become a paragraph in a history book. As a society we can either passively go along with that and accept these dogmas of existential meaninglessness and ideologies that make people mere means to economical gain and virtue signaling, and conform to such norms, or find meaning once again, in what it is to be human, what it is to be a man, what it is to be a woman, without fear of being cancelled or labelled, without fear of challenging established dogmas; if we don't do this we'll remain on this cycle of perpetual self destruction, following a façade of "progress" that goes towards nowhere, towards a mere dogmatic refutation of the past and a destruction of the present to create a future in which we're seen as morally or intellectually avantgarde, forgetting humanity and putting it aside for the sake of conformism and virtue signaling. We need more people like you to be outspoken and guide young people to break these preconceived notions and break out of the intellectual stagnation we're in, and I think the simple humbleness yet wisdom with which you share your thoughts is very important as it far outshines the constant shouting contexts we seem to only be able to have nowadays. I truly thank you for what you do, it is of invaluable importance.
I truly hope more people take the time to read this comment, very wisely and eloquently put. Thank you.
Thank you uncle Bjorn.
Aaaaah yes! Our favorite VIKING is back with some more woods-wisdom 🌳🌲🌳. That is exactly what I was thinking about some channels, they just want to cut the pockets of guys. 🤕
Yaaayy for common sense, nature and masculine men.
Poppy enjoys the safe cozy asmr vibes of it lol. Attacking? Looked more like teasing and clarifying to me
Great reminder!! Because this is the Truth!! :)
Greetings from the off grid cabin. Sorry for the camp site destroyed ,days ago. As for this video, it's called following the wrong roll model, in a world that doesn't have meaning. Stay safe brother.
Hi Bjorn, from a females point of you: Self-Confidence, tenacity and caring. 😊
I agree. I believe modern world believe blind obedience is key. Its not. Respect of self and all else around. Being masculinity it keeping your word and not be bothered
Love the Zerk 40. Hitting the PCT this year with it.
