My dude!!! I love the reviews!!!
I would prefer it in a star drag just because it’s a small game reel. It’s a well built reel though and stupid simple.
I have SG, LG, LGN, anywhere from Release then Truth, now Seigler reels "Damn bottom feeding lawyers!". Oh boy, Here we go: I live in South FL, yes, monsters are here, i'm talking 1,000lbs+ fish here, soo in these waters pelagic dominate most of the waters and these reels are a tough contender for that kind of fish. I have yet to see a manufacturing brand that will integrate a PERFECT balance between CRANKING POWER (good luck finding LBS ratings on that - nobody does it nor SEIGLER!) and REELING SPEED better than Seigler! Anything close was an attempt from Tiburon Engineering from a very short collaboration with Okuma (guess who invented the thrust bearing - heh GOTCHA! Not Okuma! Thank you Tiburon for that innovation!), the Penn came with something similar when their asses got handed to them from Okuma with their Makaira series on that thrust bearing technology, heck the famous Alan Tani at the time was regarded as an alien with 10 heads when he said Makaira with that thrust bearing is the next level in reel technology - years ago! So now we have these guys, Seigler - in my personal view, ==The perfect balance between CRANKING POWER and SPEED on single speed level drag reel, KILLING THE NEED for two speed reels while saving overall weight== that a reel can deliver that was/is designed and MADE IN USA with LIFETIME WARRANTY!. Will that Shimano of yours do that other than single brag about how smooth it is? - I own Shimano reels - Not a hater! Read about metallurgy, helical gears vs straight AND UNDERSTAND WHY Seigler went with STRAIGHT=POWER! My biggest pet peeve with ALL REEL MANUFACTURES is they DO NOT DISCLOSE CRANCKING POWER! Only drag power. Hmm, I guess that's the NEXT THING IN MARKETING? WINK WINK:)
Sup Todd still getting cought up so many videos lol, and watching Becca. Never saw a reel that connects like that, but didn't pay that much lol. Nice rod! Yeea know the bearings, had 2 reels basically fall apart on strippers lol. Ty tc
I don't know jack about offshore rods but it looks nice 🤣 No worries on not getting a video up, though I did wonder where you were! Hopefully it was a productive meeting! (I know it was on the carp fishing front!)
It was a great meeting!
I have a SGN and it’s nice but to use it for bass or tog seems expensive. I can do it and have been with my little saltist BG 30 with no problem for many years that was like $180 when I bought it.
I take use it on 3 day tuna trips out of San Diego. Catch 40 pound tuna all day long.
I've used it. The one big issue for me with it was the crank case being mounted toward the fisherman and not forward of the spool. It's the opposite of the Penn Fathom LD. Personally I love the lever drags, split second transition while having a fish on and with accuracy.
Yea that’s wierd. I have an sg and an SGN. One has the wierd gear box and one doesn’t.
Edit: my SG does in fact have the reward gearbox and the SGN has the forward gear box. Never noticed the rearward box to be an issue but it is “unique” compared to the other comparable reels in my arsenal.
Looks nice, but I'm going with the accurate BV valiant 300 c. Twin drag both sides of the spool is awesome
Smoothness really matters.
Not in love with mine. Find that it could be smoother. Love diawa reels
Oh, absolutely. Love the overbuilt quality of both, the SG and my Saltiga 30L but it'as no comparision. My Saltiga is every bit the beast the Seigler is but as smooth as glass with no wobble or play. I could probably use it as a winch.
Great American products. I have their NG.
Not much of a fan of lever drags for bottom fishing. I always use stars. Not much of an issue in warmer weather but they are a PIA to deal with when your hands get cold.
I own a whole slew of reels ant not one okuma (don't ask) but I do own Seigler SG and recently I bought a mag from PMR but I have caught plenty of 250# sharks and tuna off the party boats out Galveston TX, never had any problems with it and now it casts fantastic, great review bro.
It's been a little while since I've last seen this video, but he mentioned you're not going to catch very big tuna's and I go out of galveston party boats and I use it on tuna's also, last year I also caught a 250# shark and I too ordered a magged cage from PMR last November and I got it for Christmas, I haven't taken it out on the boats but I have been out cat fishing and casting this real and it casts like a dreamboat.
Formerly known as Truth reels.
That’s the truth
And freedom
They were “Release reels” before truth.
