We Built a 2 Speed 2 Engine Go kart

- We built a go kart with 2 speed with 2 engines. The Idea is a live axle with different gearings for each engine. There are 2 pedals so you can switch which engine you're running on, on the fly. Ideally having good low end torque and good top end speed.

For those of you still with questions. This build is different from the typical 2 engine gokart. Your traditional gokart with 2 engines will normally have 1 pedal with a throttle cable that splits for each engine, so you control both engines at the same time. Essentially doubling the HP output. In this build, the engines are set up to run independently of each other. Meaning two engines, and two separate gearings. One pedal controls the first engine so you can do about 0-20 mph, and the other is set up for 20-45 mph. Only one engine is powering the kart at a time. Just the gearing is allowing for a quick take off on the first gearing, and a higher top speed on the second gearing.

I love your idea, I got so tired as a kid driving go karts with power to one wheel. I thought about your idea before, but never pulled it off. You guys did a great job. Once you get good at synchronizing those pedals you won’t even need a steering wheel. I love it give em Hell boys! 👍

I like your proof of concept idea running 2 engine's run them both with torque convertors and same rear end gears 53 teeth along time ago you were able to by it setup with 2 engines it called the rupp k go-kart

You need to build a go kart with some suspension and a 2 stroke dirt bike engine, preferably a kx500 or CR500.

😂😂😂😂😂😂 a CVT kit probably would have been a little cheaper than a second engine and you would have accomplished the same exact thing because of them engines aren't engaging at the same speed then you're not getting the power from both engines just the power of one engine at different speeds you might have a little bit of extra torque on take off but not much and the only way to really make this work properly is the engine that has a lower gear ratio has to have a clutch with a one-way bearing
Yes, cvt would've been the way to go. You're also looking at shelling out a little more for the clutches and running out of room for engine mounting.
@@mycustomgokart it's what 60 to 75 for a whole CVT kit I mean for the average person that would be a lot cheaper than another motor and a welder and all the stuff you need to weld unless you got all that just laying around maybe you did I don't know
