@Arjun-yw7sw The purpose of marketing is to generate sales. Negative publicity only works with personalities, not products. Huawei triple fold did not generate huge sales. It was a failure. Nothing marketing about it.
I believe the main idea is to encourage people to use the sleep feature instead of shutting down. I also think that UA-camrs calling it a genius marketing idea is a bit of an exaggeration.
Why? I don't want to use the sleep function. If I'm not using a computer why on earth would I waste electricity when I could just turn it off instead? It absolutely baffles me, I can't comprehend it one bit
@@TheBunkhouseStudios you can still turn it off, but on sleep it uses only 1-3 watts (per day it would be 0.02-0.07kWh) and thats like nothing. So if you are planning to leave for longer periods of time, you can shut down but if you are just going leave for a day or just overnight, better use sleep function! It is convenient and your mac is up and running like a mobile phone.
@elijahsalvator again, why? Why use 1-3 watts and spend money on that then use nothing and it cost nothing? If I'm not using it it's completely pointless it still being turned on
Actually this has nothing to do with any of those. After the new chip. There products can permanently stay on and they consume basically nothing when they are in sleep. So now apple wants its users to sleep their mac instead of shutting down. This is their way of doing it. Microsoft did something similar where certain function can only be done with a mouse when they introduced the early os that supported mouse so people would learn to use mouse they also made the game solitaire to train people to use the mouse.
Why are ppl crying so much it’s obvious none of you guys have a Mac or use it daily. I can’t remember the last time I turned off my Mac, it’s designed to stay on or on sleep especially with how efficient their chips are.
It is at the bottom because you don't power off Macs like one does in Windows. I have hardly powered off Mac Book / Mini in last 20 years. Likewise for linux
I'm not a mac user, but I herd that the chip/SoC/CPU on it is so efficient, that is better to leave it hibernating than turning it off, as it's energy consumption while hibernating is insignificant, and you can start it again just by touching any key on the keyboard.
Windows has that fast boot feature, and Apple doesn’t. So, to make up for it, Apple forces users to put their system to sleep instead of actually shutting it down, just to make it seem faster.
You're thinking from the perspective of a designer not a user. Design wise it looks great, minimal, eye catching, sophisticated , luxurious but utility wise it's a pain in the a$$. And Apple always makes products that are eye catching and look minimal but it comes with a cost and the cost is putting buttons, ports at weird places. Apple has a fanbase which doesn't criticize them for doing something that might be not great from the utility point of view because the fanbase wants things which look sophisticated or else how would they be able to differentiate themselves from the others. Their fans at the end have to make a sacrifice by buying something else to make up for the design flaw and Apple is not held accountable.
I literally thought of this as soon as I saw people coming up with solutions! Annoying someone got to it before I could get my hands on a unit to design for, but I'll definitely make my own version haha.
The Magic Mouse port was done specifically because Jobs didn’t want people to leave the charger plugged in & ruin the aesthetic. The location made it impossible to use the mouse while charging so people were forced to unplug the wire when they wanted to use it.
Apple wants to go for that “magical” look. Wouldn’t look so magical with a power button, just as how the magic mouse has its charging port on the bottom because it would look “bad” if the port was visible at all times.
❤️ Power button is kept down because you don’t have to turn off the mac. Apple’s co-manager said “ I didn’t even know when I turned off the mac “. This is the reason why power button kept down just put the mac in sleep and everything will be fine ❤💯
ah yes, buying better options over apple's own cloth and wheels, not to forget even buying the mac studio over the mac pro as well as a rs. 15000 android phone with good software support over rs 40000+ iphone se is genius marketing
People say they never turn off their apple product, Mac book or mini but on the other side of the world we switch off the main power supply of computer for complete shutdown.
Wrong. Apple also made weird designs during Jobs' era. Don't forget about the hockey puck mouse and the power mac g4 cube. Another one that failed was the titanium power book, which scratches easily.

this is also my first question, why isn't the apple logo the touch sensitive power button?
I rarely switch off my macbook air. it just works... the only reason I might need to use power button on mac mini is to switch it on after a power cut
It's not a quirky design. They sold a problematic design then sell the solution to fix it later.
Also it increases product visibility right? Cause ppl can’t put them inside shelf’s and need to keep it out in the open
A good product doesn't need this kind of marketing
