also omg had no idea Womb House opened up a location in oakland, california! thanks for letting me know! hope to get to it whenever i'm back in the states!
oh i adored giovanni's room!! i haven't stopped thinking about it since i read it. i hope you love it, i can't wait to hear your thoughts :) i've had saving agnes, committed and the collected schizophrenias on my tbr as well!! the rest of these sounds incredible. as always you're my go-to for book recs hehe
Oooh what a line up! A good reminder to me to pick up another Ernaux. It’s been awhile. I need an Ernaux fix. 😊. Your mention of Giovanni’s Room has brought back my recent experience with this book. It was such an evocative experience for me.
I loved Exposition. I studied the Countess of Casttiglione in grad school and this books gives you a little taste of her eccentric life. Can’t wait to hear your thoughts on it!
Curious to find out what you'll think about Shame. I've read eight books by Ernaux so far and this one has been my least favourite (still 3.75 stars though). Are you planning to participate in Nonfiction November? It's such a fun and laid back readathon. I'm reading a lot of nonfiction all year, but focusing on it exclusively for a month always does great things for my brain. And prepares me perfectly for diving into mainly litfic in December.
omg i need to do an annie ernaux ranking STAT. i might pick it up soon, i feel like i need to just get through a tiny book. i might!! i have a note about it so i don’t forget but i do have a handful of fiction reads planned for that month already too
Nice books! The may sarton the house at the sea I have not read yet, but I loved Journal of solitude as well. I read another one of her journals plant dreaming deep, and it was nice, but journal of a solitude still wins it for me haha. Curious about your thoughts on the house at the sea
curious to know why the DNF on bell hooks (such a beloved read) and I recently finished giovanni's room and talked about it in my video! td;lr, [redacted] are unhinged and [redacted] ruins lives
i talk about all about love a bit more in my july wrap up - i picked it up hoping that i would really relate to it and it just wasn’t resonating with the headspace i was in at the time. i plan on returning to it eventually!! i just finished giovanni’s room yesterday, gonna check out your video!!
