    I almost missed out on my spot to take pictures Monday. I thought nobody else would be near this old train trestle and thought it would make a great foreground. I was showing my son-in-law the website for the restoration of the trestle and noticed that they were charging for parking and that all the photographers spots were sold out. I immediately emailed them and they added me to their list so I'm good to go. Hopefully you have clear skies and great shooting. Thanks again for turning me on to SET'N'C

    I am very new to photoshop. I’m on my Mac. I got to the step of selecting the color range-shadows but you say then “delete” where is that function? My delete key does not do anything relative to removing the background. Sorry for silly question. Thanks

    • @Naztronomy
      @Naztronomy  3 місяці тому

      Not a silly question!
      Do you have a backspace key? That should essentially do the same thing.
      If it's not deleting, make sure you are selecting the correct layer on the layer list. If the wrong layer is highlighted then it won't work. Let me know if that doesn't work.

    Good video. Can you show how to do it with gimp?

    • @Naztronomy

      Thanks! I plan to try this in Gimp as well. Along with Krita.

    ok I finally figured it out how to delete. only question left is if it's not selecting the entire object - how do you feather it out (I believe you called it) in order to make sure the entire object is captured?

    • @Naztronomy
      @Naztronomy  8 місяців тому

      Glad you figured out the delete. Were you selecting another layer?
      To feather it, if you're using my method of selecting shadows, invert the selection (select>>inverse) then do select >> modify >> expand (I'd recommend expanding a 3-4 pixels to make sure you get everything) and then do select >> modify >> feather (and do another 3-4 pixels of feathering).

      I plan on redoing this video with my newly acquired 2024 data. I'll make that video a circular pattern.

    how can i adjust the size of my fill layer so all of my images will fit? at 800mm my corona image is taking up a third of the image

    • @Naztronomy
      @Naztronomy  8 місяців тому

      The fill layer should automatically fill the entire size of the Canvas. Is that not happening?
      If you join the Discord server, you can post screenshots and I can try my best to help you there.
      Also sorry for the delay, I was traveling and didn't see your comment until today.

    ok, so I get to the part where the sun and shadows are selected, but when you go to the top of the screen, I can't see what you clicked and you just say delete... I hit delete and nothing happens?? help lol

    I can’t delete the second selection.

    • @Naztronomy
      @Naztronomy  8 місяців тому

      Make sure you have the correct layer selected on the layers list. Photoshop won't automatically select it.
      Sorry for the late response, I was traveling and didn't see your message.

    I don’t think you need to select the sun in the partial phases as this creates imperfections in the selection.

    • @Naztronomy
      @Naztronomy  8 місяців тому

      That's why I select the shadows. It usually does a great job.
      This video is just showing an easy way to do this. My second method is to select shadows, invert, and feather out a bit to make it smoother. But I'm hoping to redo this video with new data in 2024 if i get to photography the eclipse.
