Matt thank you for giving us a glimpse of your trip with your father. It is lovely and he is a very interesting man, I would love to hear more of his stores. Treasure every moment. .
Cemeteries are so peaceful, but that cemetery needs some major love! Your video's are always done so beautifully!! Such a pleasure to view! Thanks for sharing Kentucky with us!! Well done Matt!!
Loved this one. It seems to make cemetery visits more personal when you find family buried there. Some people couldn't afford to have a grave marker professionally made so they would make one by hand and carve the name in it.
Hi Matt, seen others of these incredible hidden cemeteries that's an awesome view. Love how you take your time seeking them out. So this is where the Hatfield's lay. That's ashamed they we're murdered. God rest their soles.
Thank you so much for this video. It was really cool to see the final resting spaces of some of our family. Now, I need to go to Kentucky and see this for myself. Always a Hatfield.
I'm from eastern KY and know of many "hidden" graveyards there. Everyone buried in that graveyard must have had a familial connection to the core family that owned that patch of land at the time. They would have started the cemetery near the original homestead. Even now the graves are dug by hand by family members because getting to them is a bit tricky.
Hey Matt, enjoying the videos. I got family buried somewhere in those old forgotten graveyards and keep hoping I'll see one of their names. Please keep up with the videos. You might hit the jackpot for one of us genealogy hunters
My thoughts entirely. I have to keep going back and pausing to read the headstones. Matt, spend more time focusing on the stones and not the trees or stones with barely any markings. Otherwise very interesting.
@@kimgrattage2395 Sometimes I have to wonder if he even reads the comments....so many, myself included have begged, video after video for Matt to stop and show the headstones. I don't care as much about greenery, fences or "divots"....a cemetery is made special by the people laid to rest there...and Matt seems to ignore most of the stones...unless they have a veterans marker. It's sad. I now have a tendency to watch more videos where the stones are read.
Hi Matt, I have always found graveyards and gravestones very interesting because each one has a tale to tell and it is also fascinating to see the different styles of stones through the ages. Very interesting, thankyou. x
Amazing what can be hidden away. Yes, in a way it appears neglected but new looking flowers, fresh graves,, statues, knick knacks. Wow - that folks are getting up there...and all the little nooks and crannies to the cemetery. Wondered what it looked like way back when. Enjoyed the trip!
Very nice. All seemed peaceful and at rest there. Loved hearing and seeing some of the history associated with that beautiful place. Thank you and take care....
This cemetery is Historic! I would think there would be an organization that would volunteer to clean it up and preserve it. Wonderful video Matt. I have heard of the Hatfield's and McCoy's my entire life, never thought I would see where some are laid to rest. Nice work. Thanks for taking us there!
Thank you for sharing. I love cemeteries and all the beauty and history. This reminds me so much of the old family cemeteries I have went to in Virginia mountains.
Hi Matt, THIS is what I was waiting for! Such interesting history, it's so nice that you, and your father can experience it together. Your video's are well done, and always very interesting. As always, thank's for taking me along. 🍂
Jacky Hawkins I love and agree with your comment. Overgrown yet so humble and beautiful with the natural wildflowers. Coming from one who recently found beauty in weeds
That was a great video ..I love going to old cemeteries and just walk around and look at how detailed and beautiful the old head stones are compared to today...thank you very much for sharing this with us I don't know about every body else who watched this but really did enjoy rhis...and very one that's watching...SMASH THAT LIKE BUTTON Y'ALL...lmao..have a great one PEACE
Thank you Mister your respectful treatment of the cemetery and graves. I would not be able to track up into those hills and appreciate you taking the time to do this as well as research families history.
I live in WV and our hills are full of family cemeteries, my friends and I discovered one on top of a mountain while riding our horses. A road nowhere in sight and in the middle of the woods. You should check out the Spring Hill Cemeteries in Charleston and Huntington, both historic and full of cool mausoleums!
Thank you so much for all your effort to visit this cemetery. I suppose the fencing is number of plots bought? I also appreciated the grave stones that were hand engraved.
thanks Matt for this wonderful video of this history of this old Cemeteries I really enjoyed this I can't wait for the next one is that your dad with you in your video if it is I say hello to him as well God bless and you both have a great day okay.
Just seen this l love the old cemeteries their are so many hidden ones I lived in TN you’d fine family plots on sold properties. In hidden hollows . Nice video,.
Oh my but that's a beautiful place! What amazes me is the effort that has to go into burying someone up there. I don't see a way to get mechanical diggers in there, so the graves have to be hand dug, and no doubt it's very rocky as well. How on earth did they get caskets and some of those big stones up there? The hand carved stones are wonderful. What a beautiful way to honor a loved one.
In Germany the family rents the graves. Everyone is cremated an when the family dies out it is rented again they also plant items on the Graves. When my mom would go to take care of the Graves we would play on the playground in the cemetery
Hi Matt enjoy your video's, you are doing a awesome job from a 73 year old lady to a nice young man. I'm planning on putting "YOUR GOING TO MISS ME WHEN I'M GONE "
Wow, I remember back in August you finding a cemetery and looking for the Hatfield connection, so to actually find it is so cool!! It's sad they died over property lines, but who would think you'd find the actually graves! You should put the real Hatfields in the title! I love your videos, just lovely. All the best to you! Don't know how I missed this in October!
I'm related to the Hatfields. There are 2 of my great great aunts who married 2 Hatfield boys in Casey Co. Kentucky. There are alot spread out over Kentucky and West Virginia.
This was very interesting to me. I found the cemetery on findagrave.com and checked out several of the names on the stones. I suspect it is cleaned up every "decoration day" and then left until the following year. Decoration Day is what old timers called Memorial Day. A lunch would be packed and the day was spent at the cemetery visiting with friends and family. It could be that all of the old folks have died and the young ones have moved away is why it is grown up. It would be hard to drag a lawn mower up that hill. Thanks for the share. I subscribed so I can catch some more of your adventures.
Matt...this was an exceptional video of an old cemetery. The very old fenced in grave from the 1800 or earlier . From watching these videos the fenced in graves were to protect the dead from being dug up by wild animals especially pigs. I also watched a few videos on cemetery experts they are very interesting. Anything you wondered about they have the reasoning behind it. From the shape of the stones, the writing, the fencing ,what on the stone face, the animals etc
I noticed you were walking on top of graves.. that's very dangerous, as you can see old ones the casket does cave in and you don't want to be there when it does from your weight. Keep in mind that many graves has a headstone and a foot marker.
Aww, that's sad to see the baby graves . Maybe someday someone will be able to go and clean it up a little and take care of some the graves that need some fixing . I don't mean that in a disrespectful way . I'm being sincere . My step dad use to dig graves for a living and he would always take the time to clean some of the graves up they needed it . That was amazing to get to see all of the old graves . I'm new subscriber . So thanks for sharing this video .
Here is my opinion....With all the freakin taxes we pay to keep inmates in prison that have more then we all do, I say take a bunch of them out in these cemeteries and help clean them up. It wont cost anything because we are already paying taxes for them. Get them to work like the old chain gangs!
Seems to me the reason for all the newer graves is because the laws changed about burying in the family plots next to your home. I lived in Delaware and would see little gated areas next to older homes. I had never seen that before. I myself like the idea being next to all your relatives.
I once had a week off work, so went for a 'point the car and drive' holiday. Ended up in in the backblocks of Queensland, and found an old abandoned railway tunnel (now a tourist attraction) and close by, a small personal plot of family graves inside a very rusty fence. It seems some of the most determined pioneers couldn't quite make a living in some places. It was a very sad little place to find, in the middle of nothingness....
the military told me that they will do the upkeep on a soldier's grave but I forgot who you should contact - they have some sort of crew that goes out and does it
This is "those " Hatfields. They migrated from the KY/ WV line to Clairfield TN ( just across the mountain from where you are here ) to work in the coal camps in the late 1800s after railroad tracks was laid in Appalachia to move the coal out
When you visit cemeteries, please read more headstones,i find it so interesting!
Thanks
Such a beautiful place to be buried but sadly all overgrown. I seem to think that there are quite a few childrens' graves. RIP. 🌳❤🌳❤🌳

That was very touching, all the more so, knowing that your father's relative and people he knew were buried there. Thank you. Bill
Loved that you included us in your journey with your Father ,, Stay safe in all you do
Thank you so much for this video. It was really cool to see the final resting spaces of some of our family. Now, I need to go to Kentucky and see this for myself. Always a Hatfield.

Hey Matt, enjoying the videos. I got family buried somewhere in those old forgotten graveyards and keep hoping I'll see one of their names. Please keep up with the videos. You might hit the jackpot for one of us genealogy hunters
I wish you had shown more close ups of the names and dates
My thoughts entirely. I have to keep going back and pausing to read the headstones. Matt, spend more time focusing on the stones and not the trees or stones with barely any markings. Otherwise very interesting.

Love visits to old cemeteries....thanks for sharing.
Judy Hardy I love visiting old cemeteries too
Me three!
Lots of family graveyards in Appalachia. My family has a private cemetery in the hills by Jonesville VA.
Hi Matt, I have always found graveyards and gravestones very interesting because each one has a tale to tell and it is also fascinating to see the different styles of stones through the ages. Very interesting, thankyou. x
Very nice video. Love the quality of it. Very sharp and crisp
I’m interested in the stories your father has about Johnny, the first grave.
I have never seen so many little gates dividing sections. You are so respectful. Makes me cry to read baby deaths.
Thanks Matt!! Love this series!! The cemetery just kept going & going. such a peaceful walk through it. Thanks so much for taking us along.
Loved this video and location. Thank you for sharing with us all to see. Stay safe, and continue your hard work in making these videos.
Very nice. All seemed peaceful and at rest there. Loved hearing and seeing some of the history associated with that beautiful place. Thank you and take care....
Matt..you are a respectful... as an old lady....I thank you.😊
I appreciate you watching, thanks!
Very pretty autumn video , another month and those weeds will be covered in beautiful white snow
Very cool Matt. Quite a trek through this one. I like how they sectioned off the family plots. Enjoyed!
This cemetery is Historic! I would think there would be an organization that would volunteer to clean it up and preserve it. Wonderful video Matt. I have heard of the Hatfield's and McCoy's my entire life, never thought I would see where some are laid to rest. Nice work. Thanks for taking us there!

Great video with your dad in Kentucky. Look forward to more!
Great to see those old grave yards Matt and it was nice to see you had respect to shut those gates to,thanks........
Watching this twice enjoyed it so much
Excellent ,well done this area is very beauitful. Thank you for the adventure.
Creepy, I wouldn't go out in those woods. But someone has been putting flowers on the graves, that's very nice.
I watched a family on UA-cam once about Appalachian people. They were very poor but all the family members were very close.
Such a great find! So beautiful!!!
Thanks! We need to do those NY vids sometime still!
Fascinating place with dots of colour coming from the imitation flowers. Although over grown it's still very pretty. Many thanks for sharing
Jacky Hawkins I love and agree with your comment. Overgrown yet so humble and beautiful with the natural wildflowers. Coming from one who recently found beauty in weeds
wow that's so interesting... It's like open the gates of those family houses, but now they're dead... ty for the video.
Thanks for sharing Matt!
I love what you do these graveyards so beautiful
Great to see your dad.

This was amazing. Thank you.
Awsome video, thank you for sharing.
Matt, what was the music at the start of this? I love it! I do enjoy your videos a lot.

Love the music and video.

Whoa....that's crazy to see an unkept cemetery.
LetYrLiteShine whoa. .. it's crazy to see someone trying to be a smart ass. Grow up.
There are many family cemeteries in Appalachia. Some are sad with only a few graves and rocks with initials carved in them for markers.
Tell the family to have a hand trasher with them.
Great adventure!

Wow u found the hatfield family. It would be cool is u found the McCoy family.
Hi Matt enjoy your video's, you are doing a awesome job from a 73 year old lady to a nice young man. I'm planning on putting "YOUR GOING TO MISS ME WHEN I'M GONE "
My paternal Grandmother is a Cline and we're related to the Hatfield's and McCoy's. Cool to see that! Thank you.
I love cemetaries and I found this video incredible, thanks !
Thanks for the comments and compliment!!!

My grandma Effie Bain Warren was from Four Mile, Ky. She is buried there as well as her daughter Ollie Warren Lewis...
I’m from Pineville, right next to four mile. There are whole lot of cemeteries like this around there. If you ever want to see me more contact me!
My fathers family is from eastern Kentucky. Their last name is Lawson. They have a Lawson cemetery in Whitesburge Kentucky.

I think it looks pretty with the tall grass it’s like being back in the woods behind the house I grew up in
They can use the inmate work crew's to keep the cemetery maintained
Near the Hensley Settlement? Bell County Area?
Wish more of the headstones could be readable. Would be interesting to see the dates.

dommabe qu'on n'ait pas le temps de voir les dates sur les tombes !
Very interesting video! You can't find nothing like that here in Sweden. Thank you!
Thanks for watching!
Someone needs to work on this, how very sad !
Awesome place

I have never seen fences dividing up cemeteries. Is that traditional in the south?
I see. Thank you very much for the reply
I live in Kentucky it's a beautiful place

How did you find that
Awesome ty

Like cemetery quite
But need weeds cut down
The Lawson and Hatfield are my ancestors.
I used to own a Hatfield muzzle loading rifle. The fellow that owned the Co. said he was a descendant. Maybe so maybe not,
Sad, but interesting clip.. Are people allowed to bury their relatives
in woodland or would these areas been approved for buriels?
My dad's family has a family plot like this one.
Evidently you have found it so is it still a hidden graveyard?
Many graves were marked with either field stones or funeral home markers which were free because the family could not afford a bought marker.
