WELL DONE MY BOY!!! IT JUST SHOWS WHAT CAN BE DONE, BY THE HOME MECHANIC! SO UP YOUR BMW!!
Cheers Russ 👍
Wow man! Can you show us all a picture of the massive smile on your face! 😄 Seriously well done with tackling that absolute monster of a job. I do love the tick over sounds of the 6 pot BMW diesel 👌🏻 you're an absolute legend seriously 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks mate 👍
I am watching this video again remembering and congratulating your jobs back then. I hope you can revive the bmw again. It just need your care
ABSOLUTE SCENES - very delighted to hear it back into life. Purring like a kitten.
Total hero ! What a job, and you filmed it and edited it which is no small job in itself. Very well done sir.
That's really inspiring watching you from the beginning of your BMW snapped chain episode to rebuilding the engine and finally starting it. Brilliant!! Keep it up !
Absolutely amazing. Well done. You deserve a medal! Brilliant! Let us know how it sounds and drives, remember to watch for oil leaks etc in the early days...
You have attained next level weekend warrior status! Well done my man!
Well done !
Not many people succeed in doing this massive job home in the driveway and you can be proud of yourself !
BUT...
Next time you dismantle a cylinder head, be sure to number ALL the bits and pieces and be sure to get them exactly where they come from.
You ALWAYS put the valve lifters and rockerarms in the same location as you took them out.
lifters, rockerarms and the cams have been worn together and you run the risk of major dammage when you change them around.
This said, the parts do not look that worn and hopefully you are in the clear and will enjoy your car for many miles ahead.
And...
If you ever take off your cylinder head and mount it back in, ALWAYS lube the head bolts when you put them in.
I have seen skilled mechanics jump the fence and use the old bolts ( a kompleet NO-GO !!!) and forget to lupe the bolts resulting in broken bolts and torn threads and that is not rekomendable :-/
But I have been watching your work and progress and I am realy impressed.
I would never take on that task without a propper workshop and back-up in form of a skilled BMW mechanic hwo has expeerience in a job like the one you just did.
My deepest respekt (y)
Impressive and inspiring! I really admire your persistence and enthusiasm throughout this situation you had ended up in!
Awesome matey, So glad she fired up for you.....been watching from the start and just praying it would all turn out well....i was a mechanic by trade until i had to stop due to illness....and this brought it all back to me....
Well done once again great job 👍👍👍
Lovely Jubbly, to take a holiday and come back to it, well done, you definitely deserve the praise.
Watched from part one! Thoroughly satisfying to hear the engine start! Congratulations you did such a good job!
AWESOME!!!!!!!!! I was holding my breath until it started. Well done man!!!!!!
I just discovered your channel, really inspirational, and one of the most amazing people I have seen in years, from my own experience been the owner of a BMW these vehicles are really complex to work with if you compare it to a Honda or Toyota, even the valve cover gasket in these cars is a pain to get it replaced. Congratulations in this journey and again I am really happy that I found your channel.
Thanks Ralph, that’s a really kind comment - much appreciated 👍
Wow, what a thriller. By far the best series in youtube history so far. You sir are an absolute madman! Congratz for a successful repair and the positive attitude you had. Great documentation also. Loved the saga and this gave me confidence to work on my car. Hopefully timing chain won't fail in my car haha (e61 530xda M57N2).
Fantastic job and so pleased for you. Been pacing around waiting for this video! Please keep us updated on next steps ....
Fantastic job done as always. Had everything crossed when you were turning the engine over, and terrific feeling when it burst into life. Keep up the good work, love the videos.
OMG 😮 that was absolutely brilliant 👍🏻 Well done nut job for the painstaking effort to sort out that timing chain failure on your Beamer 😁 So glad you did your self and shared it with us all 😆 Any negative 👎 down don’t even deserve your time mate 😁 Congratulations on a job ell done ✅ Looking forward to seeing your next fix? Thanks Stevie 😎
CONGRATULATIONS!!!! I like your attitude and your patience.
Awesome work, especially doing it all at home! I have to replace the trans on my project car soon, and it seems pretty overwhelming, but stuff like this shows that nothing is really outside a bit of common sense and hard work. Cheers!
There’s always a way to do almost anything mate - you just need the right frame of mind & plenty of tea bags 😀👍
Genius. After watching you I decided to do the clutch and dual mass flywheel on my 1 series. Seemed a doddle after what you sent through😁
She’s alive! Amazing video - what determination!
Awesome! Congratulations on getting that sorted thus far. Here's to many more happy miles without issues!
Hi Nut Job, you are the man. Great job and great updates throughout. It was good how you dealt with the challenges, like getting the gearbox out and in again using planks and jack's, very resourceful.
You definitely deserve another holiday, how about a driving one 😀
Absolutely bloody first rate stuff. Give yourself 1 billion job well done points. I am well impressed and amazed you did this on your drive.
Absolutely amazing what you have done!!!
I just found your videos by random because I searched regarding N57 and by mistake clicked on the wrong thumbnail :-D
But let me tell you I could not stop watching (because I own a F11 too) and finally saw that after all work with the intake manifold your car had a timing chain crack... F***!
Based on this I thought you will sell it or put in a replacement engine in an official workshop. But you fixed it in front of your house - unbelieveable... One of the best home made jobs I've ever seen!
Please keep the F11 and upload many videos of it. I will enjoy watching it from Germany ;-)
Thanks for your kind words 👍
Over 4,500 subs... awesome, I am so pleased more people have subbed ... please keep vlogging 👍👍👍
Congratulations! Love your videos, keep em coming 👍
Well done and huge respect for tackling that, you hopefully now have a very good sound car.
Have watched your videos with baited breath. So pleased for you well done
Really happy that saga worked out in the end. Great job.
Well done for persevering with this one, great job
This video is amazing, everyone else has always explained engine rebuild in a way that it sounds like fusion math. This looks simple!
Aah, been waiting for this one....am commenting before watching and I believe you did a good job.
Congratulations on so many points: Your bravery to decide to make this a DIY job, your camera work, your dulcet tones delivered in the best British Keep Calm and Spanner On tradition, your careful support of the transmission and for remembering where all the fiddly bits went after having a week's holiday! I cheered when it finally fired! Having just bought an F10 LCI 535d, (with only 35000km on the clock, fingers crossed) it was most educational to look at the internals, so for that alone, I give you 10 out of 10. I have subscribed, needless to say. I salute you, Nut Job! 👍🏻
Thanks Norman! I must say that owning this particular car has been quite an experience so far... 🙂
@@Nut_Job. Were the leaking valves due to bent stems? Amazed that the pistons weren't damaged but I guess not having inclined valves made for their survival.
Hazard work and determination won the day. Well done.
Well done dude
Great video and very impressed with your workmanship and detailing every step. Well done
Well done great series to watch. Thanks for sharing your journey with us. 👍
Great job. Runs smooth as new. You can be proud of yourself.
Very well done to you sir 👍
having worked on the older e46 3.0 d on my drive doing a tubo an clutch replace I know the joys lol
nice to see her come back to life congrats! Enjoy 😁
Well done chap. A job well done . Chuft too bits for you. Great vids & great explinations. Fab.
Great job bud. I did this job on my M57 engine where the chains are at the front so fair play to you for tackling it when they're at the back. I really like your calm and pragmatic attitude - it makes for a good watch. Quick note for anyone else doing this job, the reason the car took so long to start is because the fuel system was disconnected and air was introduced meaning the fuel pressure cannot be built up high enough (>180bar) and the ECU does not fire the injectors. BMW diagnostic software has a fuel bleed procedure which removes this air and the car will start a lot quicker, relieving stress on the starter motor.
Thanks for the info Andy 👍
Great stuff mate gives a great sense of achievement when you get engines going after a major job like this well done and hope you dont get any more problems alomgvthe way 👍👍🤞🤞😊
Insane, excellent work and that on your own driveway! Much respect!

Excellent mate , ya have done a better job than a garage would have done
This was an EPIC journey, just watching you doing such heavy repair. WOW! You should be named national hero or something..
😂 just stubborn & poor really...
Nut Job That was just an amazing job you did there. Was that car standing there outside open for several weeks? :-O
Congrats!
Good job! Just for future reference, the fuel lines on the CR needed to be bled, hence the rough and difficult start.
Nowadays they're self Bleeding, that's why the start was long.
@@jensharbers6702 No they are not, by cranking bmw n series engine with air in the rail, he most likely did damage the high pressure pump, it will fail in like 10-20k miles, you bleed the rails with a computer, and only then try to start the car.
Well done sir....
Well played
Top job saved yourself a small fortune.
Great work!!
