It's so very common for older people to pick up an instrument. I've been playing since the age of 14. Unfortunately, I never took it seriously. It was fun, and I've had some great times playing guitar. Now, I want to know what I'm doing and why. I want to write the songs in my head. I grew up with music, and my parents had a band throughout my preteen years. The music is in my blood. At 55, I'm really just getting started, and there's nothing wrong with that. Good luck on your journey, bro. Take it slow and enjoy the ride!
I recently subscribed to your lessons. I can't afford it, but I did it anyway. Maybe in the future I'll pay for a year. I wanted to say that I like your teaching skills. Hopefully, I'll get off my a** and actually learn something. I've spent quite some time studying theory, and it's been helpful. What I like about the way you teach is that you don't just get on here and say, "Put your fingers here and strum this, or pick that." You explain what you're doing and why it makes sense. You don't just teach how to play a song. You make it make sense. For those of us who actually want to understand guitar and how it works, I think you're one of the best. The stuff you come up with is original, and that's really impressive. I'm not sure if most people understand the amount of work you put into this. You're a damn good instructor, in my opinion.
Once again Brian unlocks the intricacies of the guitar in a simple, easy to follow way. Not only showing how something works, but why it works so you can play it in any key. Thanks Brian! Best lessons and teacher on UA-cam!
I like the Hank Marvin glasses. I finally understood the G chord shape. Little by little I improve my understanding and learn more. Been playing on and off since 1962. Started with a Pawn shop guitar, high action, serious effort required to hold down a chord. Bert Weedon play in a day guitar tuition book. I'm surprised I didn't give up after a month.
This was great Brian. I've been really studying CAGED pretty hard and heavy this last month. Especially with your CAGED series along with various other UA-cam teachers like Eric Haugen to name one. This was right in my wheelhouse. Your still my most used site subscription. Great CAGED reinstall, very helpful.
This is deeply impressive. I don't even understand everything you're doing in this lesson but it's genius how you're connecting the guitar shapes here.
This is what I’ve needed! I am comfortable playing lead with individual notes and wondered how to include some chord type embellishments. Helped tremendously with several lightbulb moments! Thank you!
Brain, at 18:49 you comment that you don't have a good answer for why going to the 11th fret on strings 2 and 4 works. Those are the 3rd and 5th of the F#7 chord, which is the dom7 5th chord in the key of B. Makes sense to me that that would work. It has a similar feel as going from the 1 to 4 as an embellishment on the 1 chord, but you're doing min 6th chord to dom7 5th chord embellishment and back. You can also see that the two #9 fret notes are the 5 and 3 of the E chord, i.e., the 4th chord in the key of B. So it also has the feel of doing a 4 chord to 5 chord and back embellishment. Love your insights! They make knowing the CAGED system so worth while!
Thank you Brian, Best decision I made for my guitar playing is signing up with you. I have questions but I will watch over and over until and only If I am stuck will I harass you with a question 😊
Brian I would really love a 'summation' guitar video where you do all the harmonized 6ths and 3rd in a CAGED style walkthrough. You did something a few months back with major scales and chords etc in every position and I reference it a lot to keep my fingers in shape. Would love something like that with harmonized leads!
oh my! another great lesson, and what a beautiful tune :) i have been trying to play this type of thing recently, but i had no idea about the theory behind it or anything. cant wait to get stuck into this lesson !
IV BEEN WEIGHTING FOR THIS ... YaaaaHoooo!!! lets do this i havent hurd all of it yet and i like wair its going SWEET!!!!!!!!!!!!.. thank god for friday
Great stuff, Brian! I've been playing around with harmonized intervals lately, so (once again) your timing is awesome! How do you keep doing that?! IDK, but it works for me! 👍 👌 🤪
BTW, I can honestly say that I've learned more music theory from you than anyone else ever! It has greatly enhanced my ability to play guitar, to learn new songs, as well as write my own songs. Now I'm working on how to write great lyrics, like I used to do when I was young (er). Why those 2 things couldn't have occurred at the same time, I'll never understand, lol. But, it is what it is, so I'm just dealing with it! Thanks again, Brian! 👍
Brian, interesting lesson. I like the harmonized thirds. Easy to play and sounds good too. One quick question, are you hybrid picking? Or strumming and muting the 3rd string? TIA!
Wow! Great lesson! Thank you! BTW -- I think you sounded more like a K-Tel add than a used Car Salesman. Anyone for a Pocket Fisherman? 🙂 But seriously, Thank You!
Do the harmonized 6ths translate to other keys, or is it just B? Same with the 3rds etc. I’ve seen several vids about 6ths and I’m trying to understand them better. I have to say yours was the best explanation yet. Thanks!
Thank you, Brian. Like an old friend stopping by on Friday to visit.
Watching you made me invest in a guitar I have no idea what what I'm doing but it's fun and I'm 69 years young 😂😂 thank you.

Yes, of course, you have no idea what you're doing. You're at the perfect channel for people have no idea what they're doing. Lol
WAY TO GO! I’m 74 and still learning and playing!
Welcome to this insanely fun world of guitar

Damn,Brian. You say ‘lightbulb moment’ a lot in your lessons. For me, that was absolutely the case this week. Thanks a million. ✌🏼
This is guitar education at it's very best! I look forward to these every week!
Another valuable lesson from a humble and generous soul. Take a bow Brian.

Best and fastest lesson to learn 3rds and 6ths ever. Very cool.
Always the best quality content, week after week! 💯💕
Great harmonized guitar lessons of thirds, fourths, fifths and six plus the theory is an added bonus.
Awesome!😊
I’ve been watching you for a lot of years now I think I have learned quite a lot from your videos thanks.
This is always the highlight of my week.
Cheers from Ireland 🇮🇪 great lesson 🎸🎸

Great stuff! I love that the lesson is in B. Helps me get out of my comfort zone. 🎸👌

Really enjoying your lessons. Don't understand even half of what you are going over, but each time I watch these I pick up a bit more.
This is what I’ve needed! I am comfortable playing lead with individual notes and wondered how to include some chord type embellishments. Helped tremendously with several lightbulb moments!
Thank you!
I’m an active melody subscriber bc of lessons like this where you blend it all together. See you for part 2!
thank you!

I loved it, now I need to work on it. Wish me luck.
I’ve had so many lightbulb moments with your lessons. Thank you 🙏🏼

Something like EP 556
Wow, like this. Every week i learn from you Love it ❤
That’s a lot of cool stuff there. Another great work thank you.
Very useful-start off with a harmonized thingy, then go into power chord distorted riffy madness!
Cool.
Thank you Brian (light bulb moment) on the B major and G# minor chords.
This is a good one! Y’all
oh my! another great lesson, and what a beautiful tune :) i have been trying to play this type of thing recently, but i had no idea about the theory behind it or anything. cant wait to get stuck into this lesson !
Thank you very much..
Would like to see the full song including the second part melody as you always do 😊.
Great lesson!
Excellent 👌 Thank you
Thank you Brian.
Fantastic! Thank you again !
I took that pattern with the thirds and did that walk down from F in Let It Be instead of just the bass notes. That works well.
You make music theory fun!! ….thx so much!
Beautiful stuff!
I like playing alt country, people like Jason Isbell, Steve Earle, Chuck Prophet Green On Red. Seems to me this lesson is great for fitting in there.
Very insightful
Wie gute Lesson - and how good Teacher
Excellent!

i' d like to express my gratitude but im busy learning my lesson
🤠
If you want to hear a good application of this listen to Duke Levine's song "Beneath the Blue".
Wow! Great lesson! Thank you! BTW -- I think you sounded more like a K-Tel add than a used Car Salesman. Anyone for a Pocket Fisherman? 🙂 But seriously, Thank You!

you can do this with any key
What's my name, and where the hell am I? Really nice tune Brian! 🙏🦘
Good lesson but just a tad to quick
Slow down a bit
Call frets then strings.
Or strings then frets. Changing back for hurts my head.
Currently my favorite o you tube
youre so good ... but sooo hard to follow.....
