Thank you sooo much for explaining that the track collection folder basically enables the stem function to the menu!! 🙏🏾 Not knowing that was driving me crazy!!!!!
Thank you! Would anyone know how to drag drop the stem files to garageband like he did in logic? I'm just getting started and don't have logic yet and can't find the "browse" button in the top-left
@wavebits have you been able to unlock individual stems in logic Pro as you did and then re-import them back into TP4 as individual Stems/Tracks and then put them into remix decks? Or just use them as individual tracks? LMK Ive wanted to buy logic pro for a while and this would just sweeten the deal!!

So disapointed in Stems, pratically NO use in a live on the fly situation when inspiration suddenly hits you. Takes resouirce and time to make the stems where in Rekordbox it just happens. What IS good is that if you have prepared them ahead of time, adding effects and filters to each stem individually opens a world of possibilities but only if you have those controls mapped to a controler as using a mouse to do it is, again, practically useless. Good start, but why cant the engine create stems live like RB does?
Native Instruments supposedly chose quality over speed. The real-time option produces inferior results. Same with batch vs individual. I'm sure in no time, with future updates they will improve the situation, & it will become better & better (?)
After you have generated stems for the track then loaded it to a deck, there is a button above the 8 pads to the right that say "STEMS." Hit this button and the top 4 pad buttons will be lit in different colors. Press any of these pads will mute the corresponding stem and dim the pad color indicating it's muted. Keep in mind that if you mute a pad and load up another track with stems on that same deck, the newly loaded track will have that stem muted.
Use a controller. Ni Kontrol S4 MK3 has regular decks, Remix decks or STEMS decks options for loading a track, with all kinds of controls for handling STEMS. Native Instruments also has the F1 controller, which is GREAT for STEMS. But you could use all kinds of controllers for the same purpose, mapped the way you want them (Presonus Atom, etc.)
I tried loading the MP4 file or converted stem files from Traktor into Ableton and the file still shows as one whole track. Am I doing something wrong?
I have the same problem. Apparently, Ableton is unable to handle multitrack MP4 files, and it just thinks they are a corrupt audio file. :( (All 4 stems are saved into a single MP4 file as separate audio tracks. Other DAWs can handle these by splitting them into separate tracks, like is shown in the video, but apparently Ableton Live cannot.)
@@StellarFireflyGaming-rm2xu I’ve actually tried loading the mp4 file Traktor exports to Ableton, FL Studio, Bitwig and Serato Studio and had the same result. After trying all of these DAWs I watched a tutorial of a user that opened the mp4 file in Logic no problem, but I couldn’t do it in a single DAW I own. I have no my idea why NI Traktor doesn’t have a WAV export function with STEMs..makes no sense. 🤦♂️
@@DjMrGrimM Wow, I wouldn't have thought that so many apps did not support the multitrack format. I don't have those myself. But, I did open it up in VLC Media Player and with that you can right-click and select each of the different tracks to play. I wonder if there is a simple, lightweight utility that simply splits them into individual MP3 files.

Traktor simply choose at this point in time to not separate the stems real-time while you load the song, but to require you to do it beforehand through the menu. With the laptop hardware most DJ's currently have in mind I think this is the best choice. The Quality of the individual Stems created by Traktor is much better than any of the other DJ Software, much more useable whilst DJ'ing. There's a few videos on UA-cam now who compare them and to my ears Traktor does a much better job than the other DJ Softwares. It takes more CPU+RAM recourses but creates a much better result. Sound Quality counts. As the Stem separation algorithms improve and the average Traktor user laptop CPU/NPU+RAM get better, I'm sure there will come a point in time in the next few years where you can actually choose 'Stem Separation upon Load' in the Traktor Settings if you feel your Hardware is up for it. Stem Separation quality and Software/Controller Stem Features combo is I think much more important than Real-Time Stems. I'll applauded the DJ Software that comes with well-executed Stems Software and Controller Features like easy Fading, Lo/Hi-Filter, FX Send per Stem so you can do for instance Reverb/Echo on Voice (FX1 Send) and another Effect on Drums or Bass Stem (FX2 Send), Looping per Stem rather than Looping all Stems of the Song together, etcetera. Not easy to integrate in Software or DJ Controller hardware, but whichever DJ Software gets that right will really make a difference. Currently Traktor already has many Stems Features in it's Software, Stems Control on their Controllers, extra hardware like F1 and D2 to control Stems + Stem Effects, and Midi-Mapping as an option to use other Controller Hardware for Stems Control.

licensing restrictions with Beatport. I'm sure NI and Beatport will eventually hammer out a license agreement with the Beatport lawyers
