In today's video I will show you how I paint that iconic 90's 'Eavy Metal look for Classic 90's Space Marines eye lenses. I'll guide you through each step I take to get that gorgeous gem like eye effect.

I really appreciate you stressing the method of just base coating the helmet until after the eyes are done, in most other tutorials the painters immaculately paint the eye on a finished helmet without making a mistake... It is far more enjoyable to have the freedom of getting paint where it's not supposed to go when painting these tiny details.

The conversion uses the grenade arm from the metal Assault Squad Sergeant model, pinned onto a basic Grey Hunter body, both from circa 1991 Goodwin designs.

My whole army is classic painted space wolves, slowly working my way through the units. Really enjoy the reactions when people see them on the table top. Great to see more classic tutorials, will be back for more

Vallejo Model Color German Orange is a pastel orange with good coverage.
Golden Hi Flow Pyrolle Orange is a nice bright orange that covers well over light colors.

edit: Finished the tutorial. Ended up forgetting all about my hot cup of coffee, the video was great! I'm going to work on some of this for my Grey Knights. My favorite part was leaving the head mostly unfinished so you can work up the lenses carefree. I love the blends and color selection too. The plastic wrap is also an awesome pointer.

In 1994 I was 12 years old and had my own Space Wolf army in glorious lead. Good times.

The body is one from either the grey hunter or blood claw kits, both had the chapter specific sculpts. The arm is from the alternative jump pack sergeant who was never sold in a box set but was only available as a blister pack.

Golden So Flat Cadmium Orange is excellent.
I recently became an old person, and damn if this isn't a correctly painted space wolf. Just like I remember their launch in white dwarf.
I missed their launch but they were still the first metal box set I bought. That box art and the shake from the metal models, oh my god, such a great time in the hobby!
I've been wondering for ages how to make the lens look so big and clear. Thank you so much for the hard work on the vid goblin-brother!

I actually held my breath when you dotted the lense lol.
Oddly though, as so as that white dot went on it brought the whole lense togther and it suddenly looked like it was glazed. Amazing work
It's crazy how much the last highlight heights paint jobs together. It's similar on the armour too which I'll show in another video.

It is like what I say when painting faces. It is easier to paint around the eyes than in the eyes.
I don't use orange a lot, but you could mix your red with increasing amounts of AK Deep Yellow. That has worked for me with similar things.

I want to paint my entire army with these type of Bright schemes! Especially with the a high type of metal/chrome for brightness effect but nobody does painting videos with that beautiful 90’s 40k aesthetic 😭 your ‘do you love me brother is how my eyes always look so you just gave me so much more confidence!
