Come check out the filming locations for Beverly Hills Cop 3. Lets visit the WonderWorld Locations! Filmed at Californias Great America in Santa Clara California.
Fascinated by the tremendous amount of open space at that amusement park.
My friend and I took a film class at West Valley and our teacher told us that if we got to be an extra in the movie we got extra credit. So, we got to be there for 2 days of filming. We had a blast. We rode rides and ate free food. And, Eddie Murphy was nice. But, some women were behind me and they were saying that wow! He's so little!!.... Poof, they were booted off the set. It was crazy
Thanks for the great video. Just saw a rerun of Beverly Hills Cop 3 & was allways wondering if it was a real themepark or just a decor, built for the movie, as I didn't find 'Wonderworld Themepark' references except for ofc it being featured in the movie... Thanks for showing teh various places, that have changed over the decades since... Makes me want to visit, if I ever manage to travel to the US.

drop zone was definitely there by 96 I lived in milpitas and when I was in 6th grade we took a field trip there it was the first and last time I went on it, previous to that I had been to great america many times I dont know if you remember THE EDGE but it is similar to drop zone except you were in a big cage, I can't recall what year that went away but some of my favorites were top gun, days of thunder, the vortex, Tidal wave, the demon and the revolution, paramounts great America was poppin in the 90s I remember all those carnival games would be packed with people, I havent been there in over a decade but im so glad I was able to grow up and experience that period of time there

So cool, my neighbour Gary was also an extra in the movie but in the opening shots by the entrance. :) I never actually saw him in the movie same as you.

Pretty cool film crawl - a couple things and probably a minor nitpick but that final shot with the "Welcome Back Uncle Dave" may have been shot on that used to be the train station in Hometown as those steps by Patriot/Vortex's turnaround did not exist. The swings are pretty much where that stage would have been. Other than that, pretty cool!
One thing I've done even as a kid is pause that initial establishing shot of the park (crane shot) and see how many things were CGI'd into the park like that tower by Grizzly, castle, volcano, etc.
Now, you said you were an extra in that Spider scene, while I know Foley/Murphey was not up there himself, did they actually have anyone up there as a stunt double? And did they actually get the cages rocking that much as they did in the video? Lastly...was a bird cage actually dropped? I remember going there at some point not long after the movie was released and remember seeing one of the spider arms missing a cage...and immediately thought that they did sacrifice one of the cages. I did hear that the filming of this iconic scene lead to an early death of the ride as it was not designed to constantly start and stop, park maintenance was not happy about the excessive stress put on the ride.
What about the beginning of the movie, the Detroit scenes, the chop shop?
They took out Loggers Run The Yankee Clipper AND The Revolution,shit is The Tidal Wave still there?I haven't been there since Stealth was just opening!!
Haha nope! All are gone!!! I talked about then but cut the clips out. Video was getn too long haha. So sad cause they were awesome rides!
