At 9:25 you had 3 stacks of ice lance WITH frozen orb yet proceeded to frostbolt>IL to dump. You need to dump your IL first with FO up there to avoid missing out on a proc from FO. In the first opener you showed you also casted an unbuffed ice lance. Prior to that you also had a ice lance/flurry proc where you decided to not only cast frostbolt instead of dump your IL, but you frostbolted>IL with a flurry proc. If IL/flurry proc same time and you started your frostbolt cast, you always just flurry there and munch the IL, you def could’ve munched a flurry proc there. All love
Hi @ Dragono F, from personal experience and because I don't have the ideal T21 combo with T19 2pc, I'm doing more damage with FT than Splitting ice but of course it's not much.
When I play my highest simming gear setup right now which is T20 2pc with T21 4pc,(bcs I don' t have any high ilevel T19 2pc), you get the problem that a lot of gear slots are either taken by tier pieces or lego's. You can go as low as 30% with the shatter cap, especially with the Catalyst Injector trinket.
I think this is a nice guide which can help other players, but I disagree with one thing - the opener. With the T20 + T21 combination it really depends... Some people prefer to use Ebonbolt first regardless, some want to use the T20 boost, so that's fine. But with only having the T21 4piece and not shattering your Ebonbolt? That's a dps waste. Ebonbolt -> Flurry -> IL (as shattering the Ebonbolt is more important than first proc of Chain Reaction) :)
HI @ TomonCZ, well I show the two different rotations one with T21 4 set only which is opener EB flurry IL and the T21 +T20 which is FB IV FO EB shatter :)
Can someone explain to me how the Chain Reaction thing works? I just dumped Recount for Details and discovered I'm only doing about half of the DPS I initially thought. Seems that I'm missing something and I feel like it's the chain reaction thing.
When should i use ice lance? The moment i have 1 frost finger? or should i stack up? Because usually when i have lots of frost fingers incoming i just use them in a row and once i have one left i cast frostbolt with a ice lance right after
Don't loose your Chain Reaction if possible, so feel free to dump them, but use Frostbolt to keep the buff going. Of course without the Flurry proc, the frostbolt by itself may not crit, but it's still worth to try (especially if you don't loose anything else). Otherwise if you want to really max out your dps, and have only FoF proc to worry about, check your Incanter's Flow current stacks and shoot your Ice Lance if it's currently on high number. Still I wouldn't worry about this aspect too much, and treat it as a passive bonus most of the time. It's really just for the situation if you have only 1-2 FoF proc and nothing else to do :)
But should u only use Ice lance when having FoF? Because i have seen people who also use Ice lance after casting flurry when having Brain freeze without FoF Which usually goes like Frostbolt>Flurry>Icelance Is that actually good? Since you are using ice lance with no FoF
What is Your weapons ilvl in this video ? I'm strugling with improving my overall DPS. Noticed a big difference when I upgraded the staff to 971 and now 974. Does the weapon ilvl scale so much dmg increase ?
Hi @ Jarek Brocki, your relics are way more important than the Ilevel of your weapon. Here is a list of the top 4 relics/ crucible traits. Let It Go Obsidian Lance Clarity of Thought Frozen Veins Hope this helps :)
Actually I knew that :D I have all 3 with Let It Go therefore my weapons ilvl is higher than the relics would suggest (930/955/935). Atm my stats are 30/31/57/9 and int 67706 -Hiphy@EU Stormscale. I can't pop higher than 1.6M on training dummy and around 1.5M mythics around +16-17.Just wondered what ilvl You had doing this video?
hey. would be nice if u could give me a answer. if i have Fof and a flurry proc. do i go frostbolt icelance flurry icelance. or do i ignore the fof proc and use it like frostbolt flurry icelance? but with that i overwrite the proc or does it stack the dmg?
It’s kind of rolling the dice, in theory every frostbolt you cast has a chance to give you a 'BraindFreeze' flurry proc. Going FB into FoF while you have a Flurry Proc, folow’d by a FB into Flury proc is basically wasting a chance on getting a Brainfreeze Flury proc from your frostbolt. This video is almost 5 months old. Now I play at 974 Ilevel with T21 4 and T20 2 set and the way my prio list goes is like this. FB into Flurry proc IL if you have a flurry proc. FB into FoF if I have a FoF proc. When I have multiple FoF procs I dump them until I have 1 left, this one I finish with a FB into FoF. When I have the unfortunate event of having a FoF and Flury proc at the same time while I’m casting FB, I ignore the FoF proc and consume the brainfreeze this is the best way to play frost. Hope this helped you out.
ThatRealGamerGuy yes helped me alot im. on 955 itemlevl but i have no 4 set bonus maybe thats why i cant get over 1.5 mio dps. atm . lets see gonna follow your advice 😌
Do you always cast FB before you use your Flurry proc and IL procs? I know if you are maxed at IL you dump at least two of them but do you always FB first?
It's very simple, consuming brainfreeze proc has prio on eveything. Which is always with a frostbolt flurry proc ice lance. If you don't have a BF proc and you have more than 1 IL proc, dump them and use the last one with a Frostbolt. :)
Okay quick question. I currently play with 4p t21. Decently decked out with 953gs and AP75 on weapon. Still I only get about 1.4Mio dps single target on bosses without much movement and good brainfreeze procs. Not really sure what I'm doing wrong but I assume its something with the procs or stacks of FB. So how should it be handled with those? Keep up the 3 stacks of the FB buff and prioritize that over consuming a FoF proc or use up the FoF as soon as it procs. Also is it important to stack up 5 shards over your head for max dmg when using a Flurried Ice lance? And with the Flurry proc, should it be held til no more FoF procs are up to take advantage of the Flurry buff for the next ice lance (otherwise if I cast a FoF Icelance after i casted a Brainfreeze Flurry the dmg buff from the Flurry will be overridden by FoF buff).
Hello @ Toffsen 100. Check, If you link me your warcraftlogs I can check what's going wrong and how you can improve. You can also check my stream if you want www.twitch.tv/thatrealgamerguywww.twitch.tv/thatrealgamerguy
ThatRealGamerGuy hey, sorry for the late reply. Your reply must have been lost somewhere in my sub notifications. Last I'd our logging guy wasn't present but from last I'd I found garothi hc which is a fight without much movement so I can concentrate on the rotation. Here would be the logs (I'm still learning myself how to read them ^^) www.warcraftlogs.com/reports/td3kfXvGZ42xqBDK#fight=6&type=damage-done&source=15 Maybe you find the fatal error that I somewhat still make?
Hi @ Nikola, depends on how many FoF procs you have. I play like this if I get a BF proc and let's say I have 2 FoF procs at the same time. I spam IL till I have 1 FoF left. I only chain react the last FoF with a FB next up is FB into flurry 'BF proc' and IL. :)
Yes of course otherwhise you are wasting Icelance crits which is your hardest hitting spell. Your BF proc will be a garanteed crit. So dump IL till you have one FOF chain react that FoF with a frostbolt + IL. After that trigger your BF with a Frostbolt + Flurry and IL ;)
I'm not sure if I understand your advice correctly? When you have FoF and Brain Freeze procs at the same time you do the following? You shoot your FoF procs but keep one. Then you use Frostbolt + the remaining IL? And only afterwards you go for the combo (Frostbolt + Flurry + Ice Lance)? This way you can easily loose Flurry proc from the first Frostbolt for no clear gain? The only things, if I'm correct can this give you, is to keep your Chain reaction active, but that happens only if the Frostbolt crit which is not helped by Ice Lance in any way... So why not, if you're out of time regarding Chain Reaction buff, cast the shatter combo fully, which will guarantee the Frostbolt crit even if you loose one IL? Or did I not understood correctly?
It's Weak aura's, but a lot of people keep asking about my UI and addons so this weekend I'll post a video on how you can achieve the same UI like me. :)
Hi @ Dakota Harrison, well only thing I can say about stats is the shatter cap which is 33,44% crit. But if you have the Catalyst Injector trinket you can go lower on crit. For haste and versa you should sim your character ua-cam.com/video/zxoYgLHtFGQ/v-deo.html :)
Great video man. I have 2 questions 1) What about the free Blizzard when i activating the orb? Should i cast it? 2)What about if i have 5 icicles? Should i drop them with a weak icelance or wait for proc and one more thing i'm new to frost mage but i kinda realize that he depends so much on legendaries. I'm pretty doomed for the moment cause i have the shoulders, KJ trinket, boots and Sephuz -.-
i play frost mage for long time to answer you i cast the free bllizzard while orb is on cause it has no cast time and it contribute to CD of the next orb regarding the icicles i treat them as passive thing and i dont track them cause u will be releasing them so often
Hi @ Dust One. 1) I only use my instant Blizzard on a single target boss fight when I need my frozen orb to come of cd because Icey veins is almost up. Only on that particular situation. Normally on ST you shouldn't be using any Blizzards. Of course on AoE fights you use those 2 insta Blizzards. 2) Never drop 5 icicles, you wait for a FoF proc or BF proc. 3) I know the legendary system sucks; I play my mage for almost a year and a half. Since a week ago I finally have every BiS lego for every spec. Looking at your legendary's. I would take Sephuz and the Shoulders :). Hoped this info helped you out.
Pretty much everything answered already. Just regarding your second question. You are not loosing any Icicles either way, since if you have five of them and gain a sixth one, the first will be fired automatically (so you will always have five, but one will hit the boss instead of being lost).
overall it's frost, but it's really close, and fire and arcane shine on fights like eonar, portal keeper and high-command (and even Imonar). Here is a link to illustrate it. www.warcraftlogs.com/rankings/17#class=Mage
1. saying FT is best for ST is just misinformation 2. youre munching potential flurry procs at 6:48 3. try and get your stat weights right because people look at them (35% crit with an injector..) 4. you never ever play around chain reaction, neither in your opener.

Btw splitting ice is still better on pure st if you have shatter cap
Also its better to be under shatter cap then above you can sim it for yourself but being around 30-31% is usually better then being at 33
